EA Sports Announces Various (Confusing) Dates For 'Fight Night Round 4' Demo
Posted by Raymond Padilla - Thursday, May 14, 2009 3:02 PM

EA Sports has announced staggered release dates for the hotly anticipated demo of Fight Night Round 4. The company is touting the demo as a chance for Ricky Hatton fans to get revenge for the Mancunian's devastating loss against Filipino sensation Manny Pacquiao. Unfortunately, the demo will not address Hatton's fragile chin, poor habit of leading with his face, and reluctance to use his strong jab. Today's press release stated:

"EA Sports is giving fight fans the chance to redeem Ricky 'The Hitman' Hatton, after his knockout-loss to Manny 'Pac-Man' Pacquiao earlier this month, in a playable three-round demo of Fight Night Round 4. The demo will be available today, May 14th, on Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network, exclusively to consumers who pre-order Fight Night Round 4 through GameStop. The demo will be available to all Xbox Gold Members on May 28th, and to PlayStation Network users and Xbox Silver members on June 4th."
While I'm psyched for the demo and incredibly psyched for the game, these tiered dates are awfully confusing. Let's see, there's one demo date if you pre-ordered from GameStop. There's another date for Xbox Live Gold members. Finally, there's another date for PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Silver gamers. While I understand having to differentiate the values of Gold and Silver memberships, three different availability dates is bound to perplex more than a few gamers. I hope, rather naively, that this trend will not continue.
