I should have posted my question here. I put it in my introduction post.

Is it safe to sprout and eat navy beans? I'm getting conflicting information from internet searches.

I want to say that today is my first day, my plan for today was eat breakfast, lunch and snacks raw. I have not been so full just eating whole foods before. This is promising.

Blessings to you both - while organic is great, many pocketbooks just don't have the money at this time to do organic, so please do not despair - buy fresh fruits an vegetables as your pocketbook can afford; Old fashioned remedy - is to clean all with white vinegar - it is economical and works very well. www.versatilevinegar.org/usesandtips

, scroll down to food prep and see it there. Trust me, it has worked wonders for us.

Also, if you don't have the resources, try frozen stuff too - read carefully. It is doable, even when not organic.

Like you, I can't always afford to buy organic. I simply make sure I wash my fresh produce and don't stress about it.

Question? I have been told to go strictly organic in my raw food choices. 2 reasons that it is hard for me to do so. 1. Can't afford it 2. Where I live, I don't have the privileges of farmers markets and grocery stores that support it. I live in the desert, closest city is 80 miles away.
So any suggestions on cleaning and preparing the fruit/veges? emoticon

Thanks for the links and ideas. I had been avoiding corn but I think I will give it another try. Just information from a nutritionist combined with my diabetes to avoid high starch veggies and fruits. Everything changes.

The raw corn salad sounds so yummy! I can't wait to try it.
I recently bought a "cookbook" called "The Art of Raw Living Food." It looks awesome and it gives me a lot of great ideas.

KTKIDS welcome aboard. First, don't stress, second eat as much good raw food in the natural state as possible, make sure you eliminate daily, relax, it won't happen in a day, but each day is a blessing to your body from you.

This article is very helpful, I think for anyone starting a vegan and/or raw lifestyle: www.sparkpeople.com/resource/nutriti
on
_art

1. Write a list of your trigger foods - things that you have a strong perferance for, that would set off triggers. I wrote a blog recently about bacon, if you get a chance, read it. That was ( I can say that now), a big trigger.

2. If you can, please plan out some simple meals, some go to food. My current got to is a celery and apple salad with lemon honey dressing - the crunching alone keeps me satisified.

3. Yes, you already know that the water is so important. I am an ice kind of girl - and to make sure everything is ice cold, I put it in a mason jar, shake it like a martini and then our in my cup . You could try this infusion below for the water if available and affordable and also, as everyone has provided, add lemon, etc. I have used essential oils, but of peppermint, orange essence, grapefruit essence and made tea - I made weaker and weaker until I had just colored water and learned to desire water - the apple celery salad will make you crave water.

1 cups loosely packed fresh mint leaves ( IF NO MINT, ANY HERB WILL DO, AND IF NONE FRESH, TRY DRIED)
1 orange, sliced (with peel)
6 whole cloves
Small handful raisins - I like this better than the goji berries that were recommended
Filtered water
In a pitcher or gallon Mason jar, add ingredients, cover and place in the
refrigerator overnight. By morning the essence of all of the flavors will have
delicately infused the water. Strain to serve.

Best Wishes

Ideas for lunch to get you throught the day.
How about a raw corn salad - cut the corn off the cob, then scape to get the milk, add clery. onion., bell pepper, a little salt, maybe some cumin, it works really well. Also, make a walnut pate - like a meat, they use taco shells, you use lettuce. I'll think of more later

Wise words of wisdom on the Benefits being Raw by Frederic Patenaude

"Powerful Benefit #1 of Being Raw -- Better Digestion
All those fruits and greens in the raw diet go a long way to keeping the body's digestion and elimination on track. Most raw foods contain ample amounts of fiber as well which helps keep the body naturally detoxed and cleansed and aids in regeneration and rejuvenation. So there are tremendous benefits to your digestive system by being on a raw diet.
The core element to better digestion are the enzymes in raw vegetables that work as a natural laxative to move the body through its proper functioning. The China Study done showed that animal products and cooked were directly related to protein poisoning, and that the best source for amino acids are vegetables and fruits, hence a diet rich in raw foods.

Powerful Benefit #2 of Being Raw -- Natural Hydration
Because our bodies are comprised of 70% water, one of the biggest mistakes people make is replacing the lost fluid through liquids (such as soft drinks, alcohol, and caffeine) containing large amounts of sugars, additives, coloring, preservatives, and a host of other chemicals and toxins. Eating fruits and vegetables aid in keeping the body hydrated naturally.
Summer is the best time to consume these types of raw foods due to their natural high water content. Fruits and vegetables that are vibrant in color contain higher amounts of nutrients, phytochemicals, and antioxidants. Examples include: apples, berries, bananas, melons, mangoes, dried plums, tomatoes, citrus fruits, Broccoli, carrots, greens, spinach, eggplant, and peppers.

Powerful Benefit #3 of Being Raw -- Reversing Disease & Health Symptoms
The ability of a raw food diet to reverse diease and improve general health is well-documented. I read stories every day from readers who suffered from severe migraine headaches, anxiety and depression and Crohn's disease, only to see these situations reduced or eliminated altogether through a raw diet.
Additionally, research studies has shown that consuming raw has eliminated or improved symptoms among diabetes patients, and patients in early stages of cancer.
Powerful Benefit #4 of Being Raw -- Beautiful, Glowing Appearance
Life, weather, stress, unbalanced emotions, and toxicities found in cooked foods all add to a worn and aging appearance. Consuming raw foods counterbalances these adverse effects and allowing the body to release its natural glow. Why spend thousands of dollars a year on lotions and potions that promise to keep you beautiful when you can nourish your beauty from the inside out with a raw diet.

Powerful Benefit #5 of Being Raw -- Healthier Immune System
Consider how your body's white blood cells react when it feels an invasion by bacteria, virus, or other harmful substance? Our bodies are naturally designed to protect itself against any toxin that could potentially breakdown or harm it further.
Therefore, consuming cooked food that contains preservatives, sugars, artificial sweeteners, salt, and other chemicals places the body in "attack mode" creating extreme stress, internal residue, clogging of the arteries, and other harmful effects. Whereas raw food can increases immunity.

Powerful Benefit #6 of Being Raw -- Improved Memory/Concentration
Your mind is the key to healing your body, emotions, which in turn rejuvenates the soul. Eating foods that are natural, unprocessed, and free of chemicals allows for clearer focus, concentration, and overall brain functioning.

Powerful Benefit #7 of Being Raw -- Energy, Vitality, & Healthy Weight
Since consuming raw, I personally have found my energy level to sky-rocket, my weight goals reached, and attitude become optimistic! I credit this to the elimination of high sugar, fat, and chemicals found in cooked and processed foods, and increased raw foods allowing my body to function on a level that increases fitness, flexibility, and sustained energy to push myself beyond my present mental, personal, and fitness goals.
So, whether your motivation for going raw is weight loss, youthful appearance, a healthier body, or simply personal evolution; the benefits are enormous! Eating raw can cost just pennies a day and a simplistic eating and lifestyle can alleviate daily stress, allowing your energy to be directed to accomplishing the important things in your life."

It is well worth taking the 29 minutes to watch this video. He gives you many ideas on how to create components for meals you can eat though out the week and not just one dish he will be eating at the end of this demo. It gives you ideas for leftovers or how to put things together you may have in your refrigerator and pantry.
