Awesome -- I forgot about miso!

Is Fuhrman okay with brown rice? I forget. (Will pick up one of his books from the library again soon.)

Ther are times I cannot stomach many veggies and beans. I also go to plain rice or potatoes with broth or miso soup.

I think if your not in the mood or your feeling icky the best was to eat beans and greens in in soup or stir fry along with other veggies

This is all quite helpful, thank you!

I didn't quite mean literally ill. More like, as a diabetic, I have stomach emptying problems and frequent indigestion (working on it.)

Beans and veggies don't add to that (they help.) But when my stomach is "tetchy," sometimes the very idea of beans and greens sort of turns me off.

Really appreciate your responses. emoticon

If you are sick and your stomach says NO to veggies and beans, there are some good bean based (but admittedly processed) noodle options. You could make bean thread cellophane noodles in veggie stock, maybe add some cubes of firm tofu to it too. Stir in some cooked and pureed mild veggies, like carrots. I know that when I'm sick my stomach can't handle the raw veggies so give yourself a pass until your stomach improves. Mild fruits, mainly canned, might work for a sick stomach but bananas are usually safe.

I hope this helps. Obviously, if your not sick but just don't like the options I'm not sure what to advise.

Do you mean when your stomach is sick? I mostly do veggie broths and boiled potatoes and toast during those times.
