Hi everyone!

I am glad to see you all are doing well and I am so happy about the encouragement I have found here.

Tamntn, I hope that ETL helps you reach your goal. I know it is hard to rely on others even when they offer. I have read many great things about ETL and the benefits of the program.

Today is day 2 for me and I am doing well. Had a slip-up and ate a tootsie roll yesterday. Today I couldn't get in all of the raw veggies. I think I got about 2/3 of a pound in. For dinner I made the asian stir fry recipe. I am not sure if this is approved for the 6 week plan or not, but boy is it good. It takes time and patience to make it but it does not disappoint.

I did my workout yesterday and took a rest day today. Tomorrow I will hopefully make it to yoga. I have noticed some tummy issues but hopefully they will disappear as my body adapts.

take care

Hi Everyone! I have yet to really start a committed lifestyle change to Eat to Live..well, that is until now. I have re-read the book and ensured my daughter will be able to the necessary food shopping for me Saturday or Sunday so I can start on Sunday. Somehow I need to see if I can get her to do shopping for me once a week now that she lives just around the corner from me so I can get the fresh foods needed. I am disabled with an inner ear imbalance which basically keeps me homebound. I rely a lot, more than I would like to, on my daughter or neighbor. Hoping to heal this imbalance and be completely healthy as I eat a nutritarian, all vegan for me, diet. This is a lifestyle change for me, not looking at it as just a diet. I am looking at for the long term and for healing. I am excited! Looks like everyone is doing so well! Congratulations to all that have made the commitment...you inspire me!

Life is meant to be experienced and enjoyed...I choose to live my life to the fullest with every second I am given. I am so blessed!

My challenge is to eat high nutrition low calorie foods. I said "no" to ice cream and freshly baked cookies yesterday. It wasn't hard because I am focused on getting fit and trim.

10/24 so far so good

The ego tells me you can't do it. The spirit tells me I can.

Each time I say "no" to impulse eating, I will visualize fat melting off my body.

As was said before. The idea of ETL is to get healthy, weight loss is a side effect. If you follow the rules you'll be okay, health wise, and you will maximise your safe weight loss. The amount you lose depends on your current weight.

Dieting to loose weight rarely works. On the other hand, modifying your food plan and exercise routine to achieve long term health benefits is the best motivator I know.

Let us know how it is going, we are here to help.

I'm really going to try and focus on fruit and vegetables. I think the challenge for me is really going to be to eat my salad first. I don't really like cold foods when its cold outside.

I truly understand the desire to get rid of a lot of fat as fast as possible. It is a mindset many of us have had. One of the things that helps me stay the course is to look at this as a way to eat for my health. Losing weight is just a bonus. Once you get rid of the 20 pounds I think it would help you to shift to that mindset. Keeping it off is as important as getting it off and I don't think you can keep thinking of it as a "diet" in the long run.

Thanks for all of the feedback. I admit it is aggressive, but hey I like a challenge. The thought is motivating. I will post my stats and daily activity on this thread to chart my progress. I'd happily take 15.

I'm not eating healthy right now. Fast food and dining out a lot. I didn't use to but the last month has been crazy and I have put on 7pounds in about 10 days. Hoping that some of that is due to a high sodium intake and not all just extra fat that I have gained.

In the past I have lost 20 pounds in a month when I started eating healthy and working out after a prolonged period of not doing either. The ETL book does say that for the first two weeks its not unusual to lose a pound a day. I also think that applies more to people who are very unhealthy when starting the program. For example, if you are 300 pounds used to eating fast food and being sedentary you are going to see a huge loss in the first few weeks when you eat as described in ETL and even start a modest bit of movement. A lot of it is your body releasing fluid. On the other hand, if you have been eating generally healthy and working out regularly when you switch to the ETL diet plan you will still lose but not as much, as fast. I started the ETL 6 week plan Monday and so far I have lost 3 pounds this week. I am curious to see how much I lose in 6 weeks. Before starting ETL I was eating mostly healthy and exercising.

I've never lost 20 pounds in 3 weeks. That seems pretty agressive to me. Not impossible maybe, but unlikely, at least in my opinion. 5 pounds a week is pretty fast and that would be 15 pounds. Maybe shoot for 20, be willing to accept 15 - ?? Just a suggestion. Still a VERY good loss in that time frame.

After searching the forum and reading websites and reviews it seems moderately possible that I could actually lose 20 pounds in 3 weeks on the 6 week phase. I am curious and also eager to start as I have a birthday in 3 weeks and would love to see those results. So Monday, the 24th I am starting my own 20 pounds in 3 week challenge. I had already decided to workout extra for my upcoming birthday and starting this plan I think will give me a boost. I spent this weekend trying out recipes so hopefully I will have a good plan for the next 3 weeks. Has anyone lost this much in 3 weeks recently? I'd be happy to lose 10 pounds but aim for the starts and if I fall on a cloud no problem I still will have reached higher than I have before.

My plan is to follow ETL of course and then do Bikran yoga 4 days a week and the Firm express plan along with that. Exercise helps to motivate me so I think it is critical that I continue to exercise while on the 6 week phase. I also am trying to build my steps up to 10,000 each day just by parking further and walking around more.

I am so glad that I found this forum and I really appreciate all of the great advice that I have read on here thus far. It has been so helpful.
