Glad SUZY that you left all that behind you and enjoyed yourself with family. Sometimes that's what we need to do get away from it all.

But don't let those demons block you. A smile will kill them more than anything else. So keep pushing toward your goal. You get your praises from the Father not from man. Boss nor coworkers.

emoticon DELLMEL I thought it was better to keep my cool and think of other ways to continue on. My husband keeps encouraging me to make more boxes and just see if I can spark others besides my co-workers to give toys for the kids in our community who wouldn't see anything.

I have had experiences in my past where someone would try and throw up a roadblock or take credit for something good that they had no part of. I'm a bit sick of that personality and most of my co-workers know I am trying to do something "extra" in the good dept. each month. I have no problem sharing with them what my newest idea is and goal for the month. I am always encouraging them to join me if its in their hearts. So, maybe I can make a difference and maybe not- the thing is I keep on trying.

Besides, this weekend instead of dwelling on it, I decided its time for family so we went out to lunch yesterday and took in a movie- that kind of event has been too long overdue. Wonderful time. Today I took my son to the NC Seafood Festival in Morehead City, NC and we did the boat cruise then were lucky enough that this time a Spanish Galleon (tall ship) replica was docked and we were able to board it and tour. Once in a lifetime opportunity and we had a ball. I took photos to show my husband. So, I rejuvenated myself and didn't sweat the small stuff.

SUZY THAT SOUND GREAT.

Glad you was more of a woman than that demon trying to knock you from helping kids. She will get hers. And if it meant to be it will happen. God has already planted your seed to grow. See how things are falling into place for you in other places. That's because you didn't act out toward that demon.

That's great that you give to wheel on meal. That's what so great about growing a garden you can give to others. I love to give out my garden.

Be Bless and keep up the good work.

DELLMEL & GOLGGMA- I love both the ideas! emoticon Someone at work mentioned that our store should have an Angel Tree which I think is a super idea- but we've got to follow all the channels and get approval not just from the store manager but higher up I guess. I just wanted to get my co-workers in the true spirit of being thankful for what we all have and helping others.
I always plant a garden in the spring- I think I will look into how I can donate some of my produce to the elderly. Right now I was giving some to a huge family and bringing in bags of the veggies to share with my co-workers. One of which helps do Meals On Wheels and used what I brought to make parts of the meals. I think I might get up with her and see what I could plant next spring to help her with healthy meal options for the elderly shut ins. Great idea DELLMEL! emoticon
Update on my campaign to do Toys for Tots with my co-workers: I got approval from my Operations assistant store manager. So I made this cute fabric covered donation box and decorated it up for toy donations with a intro letter, heart goal meter, etc... and was super pumped up. Brought it in and I had already put some new toys in that I started buying for the cause- kind of like seed ideas. Now here comes the upsetting part......
One of the coordinators took down all my newsletters I posted with the goal for raising the toys interally through my co-workers and she took my box of toys and locked it up in the office so no co-workers could possible start that day and buy & add a toy. emoticon
She stated that she was talking to our store manager and we had to hold off. I held my temper and stated I was already given approval, had contacted the Marine Coordinator for our county and was in, I was taking the responsiblity for the gift gathering and transport if needed on my own time not company time, and did not see what the issue was. She could tell I was beyond upset- and honestly this is a co-worker who likes to cause strife and take credit for other people's ideas and does NOT lead or get our co-workers to act like valuable team members. She plays favorites. emoticon
Well, I did not lose my cool beyond speaking my mind in a filtered way so as not to get fired. I went home after my shift spoke with my husband and we came up with a solution. I spoke to a few co-workers yesterday who knew I was going on the Toys for Tots campaign and always support me with my ideas and I told them to please just bring their toy donation directly to me and I will ensure it goes in a box I will keep in my car, for now as I wait to see what the store management does. The box I already made is going to hopefully find a home at a doctor's office. I have a friend who's father in law is a ob/gyn and she said if I am willing to be the one responsible for the boxes and pick ups once filled she will find me more places. So- this means I can now expand my hope.... emoticon I will talk with the Marine Coordinator on Monday (my day off) find out all the info I can and if it seems feasible for me I will start making a few more boxes (goal is 4-5 boxes) which won't be super big but enough to make a difference (they have to fit in my car). My friend is going to then talk to her friends who own businesses and then I am hopefully going to have boxes in various places throughout town to collect toys.

I don't like to be beaten down when I have a good idea and goal to help others. I don't ever like to admit defeat when it helps out people others might dismiss in their daily lives. I am even thinking of possibly having a toy get together. How's this I ask a few of my co-workers who don't work on the weekends if they want to gather some place for either coffee, appetizers, or lunch. Everyone who comes brings a toy to add to the box and we still get to chat and exchange ideas. Does this sound good or lame?

Love what you are doing for others. Our family no longer gives each other gifts, but, we contact Social Services and are given a family or two to help with Christmas and then we have fun choosing gifts for them. Sometimes this might have to be paying their electric bill, etc. and just gifts for the children. There are so many opportunities for helping others!

Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Phil 2:3-4.

Okay, I am all excited- today I had off so I went and donated 4 bags of stuff to the Women's Shelter thrift store which is all based on donations and volunteers. I also delivered the handmade fleece blankets to be given to the children who came with their moms to the shelter here in my county. Feel GREAT- my long time childhood friend, Tonya ended up going to a Womens Shelter up in Massachusetts with her toddler daughter while she battled stage 4 breast cancer. I got very close to the ladies who operate that center and learned a lot. I wanted to honor my friend's memory by trying to do something like this at least 1 time a year if not more. Had to take a moment after I dropped everything off to wipe tears away, I know she's watching out for me each day and this made my heart so happy. emoticon

Just finished decorating up the box and creating the flyer and front info panel to the Toys for Tots box. I got the email sent to the Toys for Tots Marine Coordinator for my area and hope to be bringing him lots of fully loaded boxes. My goal is to have me & my co-workers refill this decorated box at least 5 times maximum 10 times. That's a whole lot of smiles on kids faces for my community. I know I can pep talk my co-workers to join me, I have a lot of passion for this and hope I inspire them to give more than once. I have already bought a bunch of toys I added in it tonight and one of my friends today gave me 3 more to add with more promised. This is going to be emoticon

emoticon DELLMEL!
I got the okay today from my Operations assistant store manager to set up a Toys for Tots box and see if I can lead my co-workers into getting it filled. Its my 1st step in a bigger goal- I want to really fill one of our largest boxes we get in on each truck that I honestly can fit fully in twice!

I will be decorating it tomorrow on my day off and creating a flyer to inspire everyone to contribute and make some kids smile emoticon

My husband is going to talk with the person at Camp Lejuene Marine Corps Base where he work to the person who heads up the whole Toys for Tots drive for the base and get me a Marine or unit to take the toys from me once I get them gathered.

Today's goal is to donate the 7 fleece blankets I've made to either the Women's Shelter or I will be checking at the local Quilting store called All About Quilting, I heard sponsors making quilts for the Wounded Warriors or Children in Crisis locally. The blankets I've made are not super large so I would like for them to go to children who need something new to hold onto and know they are cared for. Same could be true to any of those listed. So wish me luck. I need to take a photo of the blankets so I can post it.

Hi Team,
Seems to me as we do our best to approach a healthy lifestyle there are many areas you need to be happy in. Its great to have water intake goals, eating within calorie range with healthier choices, sticking to a exercise routine that keeps your body moving and adapting to a healthier you. Leaves me to wonder- how are you strengthening your soul and wellbeing?

For me its been setting goals to do the charity 5k events, creating fleece throws I will be donating tomorrow to either the Women's Battered Shelter or if I can find the Children in Crisis organizer they will go there. I figured everyone needs something to hold onto that is warm and keeps you secure. A homemade gift that says, "Even though I don't know you I CARE."

Next on my list is I am currently trying to get one of the ladies I work with who are Marine spouses to see if their husband's unit are willing to be our store sponsor so I can set up a box for Toys for Tots. That way I know the toys will get to children in our area. I think every child deserves a special toy under a tree come the holidays plus I think it will boost our inner work spirit knowing we are working together to brighten up some kids lives. My goal in October is to buy toys = up to $20 each week. We have tons of toys that go on clearance at Marshalls so its easy for me to knock out the excuse of I don't have time to shop.

November/December, I have a wonderful lady I work with who I tell everyone is the "true heart" of our store. She's our go to person to ask for counselling, prayers, hugs, you name it and she give so much to her church, Red Cross volunteer, and does the Meals on Wheels. I have enlisted her help for me to reach my end of year goal. Since I focused on health & mixing it with charities for Sept/October, October/November is for the kids, November/December I am focusing on the elderly. She is going to be giving me ideas for gifts, I am thinking cards, small gift bags with mugs & small snacks, socks, lap blankets and she's mentioned the ladies love the shawls she wears when visiting. So I am going to on the lookout for an easy pattern that will be low in cost for me to make fleece shawls too. Its got to be hard come the holidays as we grow older and possibly outlive our loved ones. No one should feel like they are a shadow of themselves and don't matter. I think I will love seeing some older faces smile who have the inner kids still living inside.

These are the things I've come up with to help me feed my soul and keep a happy healthy well being. What do you think?
Got more ideas? Please list some more, maybe you can spark someone else to feed their souls along the way. emoticon emoticon
