Okay, I am not going to talk about how long I have been dealing with the aftermath of TYPHOID LYNN that hit October 24... but when I finally went to see my doctor, I was given two very specific instructions... take ALL the meds (a few antibiotics) and nothing strenuous until you are no longer running a fever, coughing, or having shortness of breath. Well, Iast week I had to start doing something, I had been stretching, so a few nights ago, I was so angry and frustrated I had to do something. I put on my thickest sweat pants, good socks, my walking shoes, a sweat shirt, AND my really thick and warm swimming parka! I adventured out into the cold evening and I walked (a mile before I knew I had gone that far). When I got home and shed the parka I felt so great. I could have walked further, but felt I was really pushing it. So, I was pretty proud of myself and no worse for the wear. I have been doing this every night after dark for a week now. I still run a fever in the evenings, but I am now sweating out my fever and I am feeling better ... but still taking the last of the antibiotics and when I wake up in the morning I still feel a bit crummy. But by the evening I dawn my parka and I go out and I walk... still a mile.... but I am doing great at it. And soon, I will be able to go back to the gym and get back in the lovely water and swim. And I will be able to build up my endurance in no time.
SO... emoticon here's to walking!!!

p.s. I have two friends that live really close to me, and they often come by in the evening to check on me and make sure I am not doing anything "stupid" like exercising ... hence the dark swimming parka... they have never seen it and I can't be recognized in it. :)

It sure feels good to be walking again. This one was not my most aerobic effort b/c my 4 year old neighbor boy insisted on coming along. But it still did my heart good - looking at the world through his eyes. Drainage culverts are "awesome". There weren't any roses to stop and smell but we did have to go off the beaten path to admire a tree with really red leaves and pick one up off the ground to take home to his grandparents. The mother duck is still in the neighborhood with her babies so that was a real treat. And he trekked right along, the whole mile and a half. I told him to be sure to brag about that to his grandma.
