Ahhh love garlic toast, love garlic, but the dreaded gastritis and gerd always seam to say NO. well, the weird thing is, they do not always say NO. Seams sometimes I sneak it in undetected.

Vampires...well, if it was a hot female Vamp... I may cut back the Garlic.

I took Garlic many years ago as a supplement and it may have been me, but, i could swear that when i was taking it for a time that when i would cut myself or bleed that the blood looked to have an oily appearance and feel to it, again maybe just me.

Now, oddly I was at the doctors office yesterday and happen to be looking at a magazine for a specific article but something caught my eye, another article on Herbs and benefits, I took some notes.

The best Garlic is fresh Garlic. BUT, granulated or powder is effective.

Garlic also Helps control Cholesterol and Blood Pressure and also when used in supplement form as in medicinal amounts, care needs to be taken because it also acts as a blood thinner in helping preventing clot formation.

Preperation note: I found this on net.
Many home chefs mistakenly cook garlic immediately after crushing or chopping it, added Dr. Kraus. To maximize the health benefits, you should crush the garlic at room temperature and allow it to sit for about 15 minutes. That triggers an enzyme reaction that boosts the healthy compounds in garlic.

More Info I found on Benefits of Garlic...
Garlic is thought to work because of its antibiotic and blood cleansing properties.
Antioxidant – Allicin naturally increases antioxidant enzymes atalase and glutathione peroxidase in your blood. It can help against the damaging effects of nicotine and slows the aging process of your liver by inhibiting lipid peroxidation.

Anti-Bacterial – Garlic has 1% of the potency of penicillin and can ward off a number of bacteria such as Listeria, Salmonella, E. coli, Cryptococcal meningitis, Candida albican and Staphylococcus. The problem with most antibiotics is that bacteria develops resistance to them, however this is not the case with garlic.

These benefits were first realized back in the early 19th century when English priests caught infectious fever. The French priests, who ate garlic everyday, didn’t.

Blood Clots – Clinical trials, which were published in the Journal of Hypertension, showed that the blood pressure of volunteers was reduced 1 – 5% after taking garlic supplements. This may not sound a lot but this small reduction can reduce the chance of a stroke by 30-40% and heart disease by 20-25%

Some Pointers about Garlic:-

Garlic is most effective when crushed or chopped and when raw.
One clove a day will improve your health and 2-3 cloves will help prevent a cold.
When cooking garlic wait until the last 10 minutes of cooking to add the garlic.
Be careful about taking too much as it can irritate your digestive system.
Don’t microwave garlic as this kills the active ingredients.
Don’t take garlic instead of a healthy balanced diet.
Garlic supplements may interact with certain drugs such as anticoagulants.
Always consult a doctor if you are unsure about anything.

MMMMm Garlic Burgers, Garlic Toast, Garlic covered eggs, Garlic flavored tea, New Garlic Pepsi and Garlic Dr. Pepper... a new health craze? emoticon

God has a Universe and He does things His way, You may have a better way, But you Don't have a Universe!
