OK, I tried taking a photo of a spread, yesterday. Mixed reviews. I was doing a Celtic Cross and it was hard to get the entire spread in the photo. I think I will stick with just making a sketch of the spread and use the abbreviations for the cards.

Plus, I think I was focusing more on the picture-taking than on the question! The reading seemed chaotic. I noticed that if I just removed the very first card and moved all the rest of the cards up one position, the reading suddenly made all kinds of sense. Geez Louise! So strange!

I typically will write down just the Roman numerals for the Major Arcana, and just something like "2 Stones" (Stones is the Pentacles suit in my favorite deck). Not as detailed a shorthand as you have, CREATIVE_SPIRIT... I bet you have become familiarized enough with your shorthand symbols to be able to use them very quickly! Speed Reading! Lol!

As I was reading your note, an inspiration came to me: I'm going to snap a pic of the layout and put it with my notes. I really like to look at a layout and visually take in the cards as they relate to each other, so I'm thinking I might like to have the photo right there to refer to. I will have to try this out and see if it works well.

Interesting. I've never considered using a version of shorthand to record a reading. I'll have to give it some thought.

So your swords symbol looks a bit like a lowercase t set on its head. Sounds fitting. I like it.

I have been using Tarot symbols to write down the cards I have drawn in my readings and finding them very useful.
I thought I would share them with all of you, maybe you already use symbols for the cards, I have only just started using them myself.

I use the Druid Craft Tarot Cards I find these easier to use than some of the other cards, the symbols I have used would work for any tarot cards, the names of some of the cards would need altering to suit your set though.

When I record my readings I use an arrow point up for Upright cards and an arrow pointing down for Reversed cards.
I have found using symbols a lot quicker than writing down the name of the cards.

The symbol for Swords is not visible sorry about that, it is a an upright line with a horizontal line across the bottom a bit like an upside down letter T but with the line going through the of the horizontal bar.
