She said to follow south beach phase 3, but to also stay away from refined sugar, starchy foods and fruits that have a lot of sugar in them such as bananas. At first I didn't know how I was going to do it, I didn't really know what I could eat. But once I figured it out it wasn't bad. I lost weight faster than I ever had before in my life and got pregnant almost immediately after trying for two and a half years.

Thank you for the feedback! Did your RE give you a specific meal plan to follow, or just foods to avoid with ideas for alternatives?

I think your plan is a great one. I can't think of anything else that you should know before you go.
I haven't been to a nutritionist but my RE gave me very specific dietary guidelines to follow. At first the restrictions seemed impossible because I do all the cooking for the family and my husband is a picky eater. So NO pasta was hard to think about because we have it once a week. But when I did explain the things I struggled with, she gave me some ideas for alternatives.
I think the best idea, besides what you already have, is to go in with an open mind about what they say.
Please let us know what they tell you! :)

Next week, on the suggestion of my primary care doctor, I am going to visit a nutritionist for the first time. My primary care doctor recommended that I lose 60 pounds before trying to conceive, and thankfully my insurance plan covers 4 nutritionist visits a year. What should I consider before my visit? I am planning to bring two weeks worth of my Spark People nutritional tracker information (this week's tracker, when my eating hasn't been that great, and a week from last month, when I tried my hardest). I am also planning to bring a list of foods I eat regularly. My goals are to find out my ideal caloric range, and to determine how I should be eating differently. If you have visited a nutritionist before, can you think of anything that I should ask or be aware of? Thanks in advance!
