I always wanted to go up to him one fine June day and say "Happy Father's Day" but... I couldn't hold out that long. Now that we've got one, I wouldn't be telling him, by saying that.

Maybe I can give him two cards from "the kids"?

I have been reading and reading and reading all these great ideas - yay! Thanks to everyone for posting.

Last time we bought the test together the night before so he knew I was taking it, so I just went back in the bedroom and crawled back into bed and told him. Unfortunately, this pregnancy isn't sticking according to the last two ultrasounds. . . so we're going through that right now :-( BUT we're going to try again right away and I think next time, I'm going to not tell him I'm testing and think of something cute - maybe with the dog, or maybe with the baby sports gear. We are HUGE Chicago sports fans and Bears season ticket holders so that would be cool. We also love hockey and he LOVES that in Christmas Vacation Chevy Chase wears a Blackhawks Jersey for Christmas - he's always wanted to get one for everyone in the family with 00 for him 01 for me, etc.. . . might get a tiny one that says 02 on it :-)

Ooh, I've had an idea for awhile, but I may just have to change it for that surprise in a restaurant idea!

I'm a knitter, and though I know that buying stuff for a baby before it's born (never mind before you're even trying!) is up there with walking under ladders and breaking mirrors for luck, when I've found the perfect yarn for the perfect pattern I couldn’t help bringing it home. So I have some beautiful yarn at home for an heirloom-type baby blanket. I’m always knitting things for baby showers, and my hubby is very supported of my craft. So I’m thinking I just pull out the yarn and start knitting. (He doesn’t know what it looks like.) When he asks me what I’m working on, I’ll say “a baby blanket.” He’ll ask who for, and I’ll say “for us!” And all the people rejoiced. I don’t know if I can be patient enough to wait for him to ask. If not, I’ll just pile the yarn around me on the floor and ask him if he likes the colors when he comes home. He’ll ask what they’re for, and I’ll say “a baby blanket…”

We’re part of a large, very close-knit church community, and I think I have as many people there waiting for us to make a baby as I do in my own family! For the grand announcement three months in, I definitly want to wear a very blatant t-shirt to church. Something along the lines of "Knocked Up" or “Pregnant, not fat.”

I just found out this week! I wanted to come up with something big and grand but was afraid that he would feel awkward in public or something. So I rushed home the day I tested and filled out a card from the baby saying how excited it was to meet him and how great this Christmas would be with our family all together. I sealed the envelope and didn't write anything on the outside and slipped it into the pile of mail for the day. He opened, thinking someone had just slipped something into our mailbox and was happily stunned by the end of reading it!

I came up with a new idea on how I'm going to tell DH. I feel I must apologize in advance as I do tend to lean towards "potty humor." I'm going to take a picture of the BFP on my phone and text it to him with the words, "I peed on this."

My hope is to send it either just as he's getting home, or while he's home so I can snap a picture of his face when he reads it.

when we get pregnant I am putting a hot dog bun with a positive pregnancy test in it (positioned so you can see the positive) on a plate in the oven with some pacifiers around it and gonna tell him "I think I broke the oven can you look in there?"

cute ideas!

I had gotten my DH one of those daddy onsies (can't even remember exactly what it said) but he found it when we moved! lol. So I told him when we were babysitting. I said, "so what do you think about having a little ____ (insert the little boys name here)?" and showed him the test. He was excited! Ironically the couple whose kid we watched asked us if we were pregnant and my hubby could honestly say no because he didn't know yet!

We had an ectopic pregnancy next so me and my hubby found out together, surprised, at the OB for a check up since I had been bleeding for a month.

With #2, I asked him to get our son dressed to go to friend's house for thanksgiving. I had hung a blue onsie with "I'm going to be a big brother" written on it in the front so that's how he found out. He made me go get another test and double check though.

I don't have any good ideas for the next one... maybe sneaking down to his work and taping a big poster the kids and I made onto his car? It would be tricky for him not to see me because he works in an outdoor area really close to his car (oil change place)- or maybe just have my little ones tell him- if I want everybody in the world to know lol.

I've read this thread a lot & I love all the ideas :) I've been thinking about this for months & hadn't really thought of the perfect way of telling him. He recently saw this Carter's crib bedding & fell in love with it. He's normally not involved with decorating because he doesn't really care but the fact that he really loved this made a light go off. So I casually said "when we get pregnant, we'll buy it", he said ok & dropped it. So....when I get that BFP, I'm going to order it & wrap it up for him with the pregnancy test. :) It's more expensive that I was originally thinking but it'll be worth it :) & the neutral colors can go for a boy or girl, so we're covered either way!

I have given this some thought over the years. When that day comes, I want to get a baby rattle or something significant that would be for a baby and wrap it as a gift for him. Then wait for his priceless expression....I know he'll be dumbfounded at first. There are so many ideas and great ones too.

Aww, there are some cute ideas in here! We've just started TTC, but I've already thought of ways to tell him... I had also thought of picking up a bottle of sparkling cider to celebrate. I LOVE the idea of serving wine in a baby bottle... except I'd want to do it at home, where he normally drinks beer, so I would stick a paci on the bottle, LOL. I also really like the idea of involving the pets! Just last night I asked if he thought our cat would make a good big brother, haha. I'm not sure what's out there that our cat would agree to wear, but that would be a hilarious way to break the news!

I have been thinking about this alot. It really depends on what strikes me at the time, but I am big on cooking. I cook all the time now (kind of goes with the healthy eating) But every once in a while I try to cook a special dinner and we have a glass of wine or something. SO I am thinking of when it comes time to tell him, cook a dinner and have "wine" but really make it apple juice or sparkling cider. Tell him its wine and then when he tastes it and realizes what it is, I say that I am not really drinking these days. and then he'll deduce it from there! We are trying so it won't be a horrific outcome. This still needs ironing out and it may change all together when it comes but I just thought that was a cute idea.

We are not TTC yet, but I have been researching ideas!

1. Tie a note to our dog that says "I'm going to be a big sister" so she can run to him when he gets home from work

2. Ask him to check on whats in the oven.. and when he does he will see a "bun" in the oven! hehe this one is super cute!

wow! these are all great ideas!! I'm not pregnant with baby#2 yet...but I know that I don't want to tell my hubby the way I told him the first time! lol!
My husband and I weren't planning for to get pregnant in the first place, and when we got back from a trip the Dominican Republic, I felt SO tired...I decided to take a Pregnancy test (just incase)... I got home from work and VIOLA...it was positive...I was SHOCKED...afterall we had only been married for 3 months...and it was a completes "oops". So I called him right away ... I was SOOOO happy and scared at the same time. He was sitting in a parking lot on his cell phone as I told him the news! How awful is that?!?!?!?!
So next time...I'm going to cook him a dinner with baby carrots, baby corn, everything with a baby theme!

I just recently thought of this idea: Leave the toilet seat up and tape the + pregnancy stick to it so he sees it the next time he goes.
My thought behind it was, if I had to find out by peeing ... so do you. :)

I thought it would be cute to surprise him with a gift (booties, bottle, pacifier, bib - all in his favorite hockey team) but he's informed me that he doesn't want me testing on my own as he wants to be there so we can share that moment together. I totally agree. It'll be something to remember forever, and I want that memory with him!

I am not prego yet but I definitely know how I am going to tell my husband that I am pregnant. My husband is a runner. So I am going to buy a pair of babies New Balance or Nike running shoes and place a tag on the box of shoes stating: "For your future runner" and wrap them in an adult men's shoe box that says my husband size. I'll hand my husband the shoe box and tell him I found the perfect pair of running shoes (go into to my detail while he opens the box) and hopefully he will get the meaning behind the shoes. emoticon

I loved reading these stories. If this were facebook I would have "liked" all of them!

I have a couple of ideas...

My husband is a musician, so I have thought about buying one of those "Future Rock Star" shirts. I loved the idea about the Rock Lullaby's!

We are also really big Disney Fans... I thought it would be cool to tell him on It's a Small World. Still working on how I will execute this.

Loved the wine in a baby bottle idea!

When I first found out I was pregnant, I sat on the couch waiting for DH to come home. He didn't even suspect as we weren't actively trying. He walks in and stops to look at the mail, not even wondering why I'm just sitting there instead of puttering around the kitchen as usual. So I said, "Next year you're going to have to buy me a gift on Mother's Day." He said, "are you serious?" No you goofball, I'm joking! :)

I said it this way because we have four furkids and friends/family have been telling him he needs to buy me gifts because I'm a mom to the furkids. It's been a running joke for awhile now.

Unfortunately, we lost our LO and will be TTC again soon. I may have to steal some ideas for next time, as it was so perfect the first time!

LOL. I love the stories, plans and suggestions, and hope everyone will keep them coming. The "Level 1 Human" onesie is too cute, and something both the hubby and I and most of our friends would definitely appreciate.

I just thought of a funny way to tell my parents that would be great for any other practical jokers, and I think I'll use it if I can hold out for not spilling the beans to my mom over the phone!

I'll take a disposable diaper, and on the outside of the diaper, with permanent marker, write a message such as, "Don't you think this is just the 'poopiest' ..." (in my family, a slightly more offensive term might be substituted). Inside the diaper, some kind of chocolate treat, and a note that says, "Way to find out that you're going to be greandparents." I know that I won't be able to wait long enough to have an ultrasound picture in there. I think my mom would know as soon as she opened a package and saw the diaper, and so it would give her at least a second or two as my dad was finishing opening it before he figured it out, too, unless he knew by Mom's squealing!

Awww man, got teary just reading this thread. Last time I went to the Dr. because I thought something was really wrong with me.(I had been spotting for a month)Dr was like "you are pregnant and we need to do an ultrasound TODAY". I called him in tears and then was whisked in to the exam. I wish I had waited for him. When the tech said "there's the heartbeat" I cried like a baby. Such a huge step from not knowing there was a baby to seeing her in one day and I wish I could have shared it with him. But there's always next time ;)

He asked me if I was pregnant. I hadn't tested yet so I said I didn't know. Later that day after I got the BFP, I said "Remember that thing you asked me about earlier and I said I didn't know? Well, I tested and that would be a yes." Not a fabulous story, but it worked.

I don't know how I'll tell my hubby...we've already decided however that we will send my mom a diaper in the mail with a note written inside. She lives in GA and we live in VA...and I'm willing to bet that we'll hear her from there:)

I'd like to tell Clinton in a really special way...but I'll have to wait until that time comes:)

Sorry for your loss, Jenn.

I don't know if I could contain the news, but DH really likes those Rockabye baby CDs so I think it would be funny to get the Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd one and leave it on his desk to find.

There is a new commercial for the iPhone 4 where a couple is talking about "you know that thing we've been try for for a while" and at the end she say's "you're going to be a dad". I think just emailing that to DH would be cute.

I'm not sure I would even have to tell my hubby. He knew that his cousin's wife, and his sister in law were preggo, two weeks before they told us. He says they just had a "glow" about them. I think I would be totally freaked though, as right now, he's not 100% on board with having kids. However, if he ever gets to a point where he is really okay with it, I will keep in mind the great ideas I've read on here. Thanks for sharing!

this is how it happened for me. I was about 2 months from my last TOM and was getting really frustrated. My bf and I had a fight about kids and breastfeeding a week or two before and he made it clear that he wasn't ready to be a dad.

So when i finally peed on a stick to show a doctor it would come up negative it made me a liar and came up positive. I cried for 10 minutes. Then i called any girlfriend who had kids to get a hold of myself.

I went to the dr still and he did a test which also came up positive so here I was pregnant and scared yet excited too. I went to the local drug store to get some folic acid supplements and saw a baby on board sign. I put the test in a jewelry box and gave him the box later that night (after telling my mom during the day who was just extatic as she has been waiting 8 years for her 1st grandchild).

He looked at it and said "what is this?" I said a stick. He was like, " what does it mean?" I said..."that it is positive". His reply, " what is positive". I said. I peed on that stick and it is positive. Then there was some swearing. I walked away knowing that i cried that morning because I knew he would be like that.

He wanted no one to know. I told him he can hide it from his family but I will tell my family if I want to. I told my family the next day and we told his brother when I hit 12 weeks.

His parents didn't find out till christmas (i was 16 weeks at that time). I didn't see them that year as it was my family's turn to have the christmas visit. He brought a card to his mom that said Merry Christmas Grandma. Well there was alot of getting up and down on the chair and asking "How did this happen".

Long storey short....they were shocked. He was scared. I gave him an out which he refused to take (he could sign over his rights and I would raise the child alone cause I refuse to abort). We now have a beautiful 10 month old son and he is already planning baby 2.

I think i will steal the wine in a baby bottle for telling him about being pregnant for baby 2. But that is 2 years away and hopefully 100lbs.

This story is more about how i told my mom... My boyfriend I basically started crying and said "i'm pregnant!" and he was like "yep! that's what I thought!".. not exciting really..

But I was contemplating on when to tell my mom, and my bf and i decided to wait til after my doctor's app.. which was like 5 weeks away! There was no way i was going to wait that long (my mom is my best friend and this would be her 1st grandchild!) So she came over one Wednesday and I was pacing the house until she got here. I was sewing a shirt for myself and I kinda messed it up so i asked her to seam rip it for me. So while she was sitting on the couch i brought out a pattern that had baby clothes on it and said "maybe you should help me make these instead?" and she looked at it and was like "for who?" and i was like "me!" and she was like "planning for the future?" and i replied "not that far in the future,"(i was tearing up). She was SHOCKED, then really excited.. long story shortER.. lost the baby at about 14 1/2 weeks :(

If i'm pregnant now, I'm telling her right away! She's my mommy and I need her! :)

I was waiting for my period and it did not come so I took a pregnancy test. I was so excited when it said it was positive so I went and gave the test to my husband. He looked at it and was like is it positive. Then he gave me a high five and we laughed. He was the first person I told and now I am waiting to tell everyone else.

Found out I am pregnant yesterday. After much self restraint I managed not to tell DH that moment and planned a surprise for that evening. We had dinner plans at our favorite restaurant and I called them ahead of time to get their cooperation. When we arrived at the restaurant and ordered drinks, the waiter brought out DH's glass of wine in a baby bottle. DH thought it was some kind of crazy Happy Hour joke until he saw my face. Then he smiled really big and asked "Are you pregnant???" I laughed and said "Yes!"

Everyone around us cheered and we got big props from the restaurant staff for being so creative. DH was impressed that I could plan such a great surprise- since i'm normally terrible at keeping secrets. He loved it!

My cousin got those word bubble stickers and a bunch of copies of the ultrasound and put a sticker on each one and put, "Hi Grandpa! or "Hi Great Grandma!" on them. Everyone loved it! I think I'll do the same thing for my parents and in-laws when hubby and I get pregnant.

That's going to be hard for me because I know I would be too freaking excited but I want to tell him in a cute way. We have an extra room in our new house that I'm using as a gym until we have a baby. So, what I will do is clear out my gym stuff and buy something baby related and put in the middle of the room. When he comes home (or wakes up-whichever works out) I will tell him I bought something new for the room and make him come see it. When he sees that I cleared everything out I will say " It's time to start thinking of a new decor for this room" and trust me-he will know what it means!

I will never give up!

I have always had this huge list of cute ways I would tell him, and then in Jan. when I randomly took a HPT and it popped up with a plus I ran right into my living room and showed him! Him and about 4 of his friends!

I wish I could of kept my mouth shut and told him in a cute way, but the pregnancy ended about a week later.

I WILL do something cute next time!

Mine heard me in the bathroom unwrapping the test. I was sitting next to him on the couch after I got a positive, trying to figure out a fun way to tell him, when he asked "are you pregnant?" So...that's how the news came out :)

My husband is a HUGE model railroad enthusiast! I decided a long time ago that I was going to surprise him by getting the baby train engineer hats (one in blue and one in pink) and wrap them up and give them to him to tell him we're expecting! I thought it would be a super cute and memorable way to tell him. I actually have already purchased the baby hats so I can tell him right away instead of waiting until I know I'm pregnant and then having to wait several days for them to arrive because I know I would have a hard time keeping quiet about it.

We also plan to tell our parents the news by buying one of those cute "grandparents" frames from Hallmark and putting in the sonogram picture to give to them. My cousin did something similar with her first child to tell them it was a boy and got cute baby boy frames and put a sonogram picture in it.

I want to do something cute but I think I'm going to end up just yelling "omg I'm pregnant". He leaves for work after I do in the morning so he would be home when I test (although asleep) and I don't think I could hold it in.

I really like the idea of giving him a wrapped gift and him opening up a "Daddy-type" book. He is a huge writer. Knowing me, someone who can barely make it to Christmas Eve before giving gifts, I'll probably just blab it to him anyway! LOL

honestly, my husband will probably know before i find out. he's an empath.

but if he doesn't start asking me if i'm pregnant, i'll probably run up to the store and buy a pair of booties or a cute bib or something and wrap it up to give him as soon as i see him. i usually take my tests when he isn't home or when he's sleeping, and i've had so many negative ones that i probably wouldn't believe the first (couple) positive one(s) anyway.

This conversation is awesome! I just have to say that years ago when I was a waitress, a couple came in on Mother's Day with I think her parents. I was waiting on that table along with a girl that I was training. Well, after a little bit the couple got out a present and the husband video taped the mother opening it. My trainee and I were right there trying to fill waters or something and not really paying attention to the present, just trying to stay out of the way, and sure enough, the mother started screaming/crying/laughing because she got a "World's Greatest Grandma" shirt and an ultrasound picture. I swear, I cried like a little girl that day and thought that was the cutest thing ever. I realize that's not about telling the husband, but it's a fun story anyways :-)

I think I might try to pretend seduce him....(thinking ok, we have to do the baby dance tonight)

Put a bunch of rose petals all the way up the stairs leading to the bedroom, one of my nighties on the floor by the bedroom door. Once he opens the door, he'll find a baby doll on the bed with a pack of diapers, a timer and my pee stick AND a note telling him he'd better start practicing. I may even try to videotape it.

We are jokers...if you couldn't tell.
Well, that's my plan. I probably won't last through the day, but....hey, I think that would be fun.

SUNNY, I'll probably throw the plan out the window too unless I have that geektastic onesie immediately at hand! Either way, I'm pretty sure I would wake up dh immediately to give him the news - I'm way too excited.. ha ha.

I have a tee-shirt that says Daddy-to-Be for him, but honestly, when it finally happens, I will probably be running down the hallway screaming and that plan will go out the window.

AH! I love the level one human onesie idea! My DH is a major gamer (I am too, just not quite as much as he is). He plays World of Warcraft all the time sot hat would be perfect for him...hmm..I might have to get that.

Kelly - that's a cute one. I was in some overpriced baby boutique a year or so ago and saw some of the cutest "my dad's a geek" clothes. I'm sure our kiddo will eventually wear something like that!

I ordered the Level 1 Human onesie and had it shipped to my MIL. Can't wait to give it to the hubby :)

I love reading all these fun ideas!

My hubby is a gamer... dungeons and dragons, star trek online, crazy board games noone outside of the gaming world has ever heard about. Totally geektastic.. ha ha. I found a baby onesie online that only a gamer would understand (it says "Level One Human") - it would be perfect to give my hubby to let him know we're pregnant. Only problem is he works from home and I'm home all day too so I couldn't have it delivered here or he'd know something was up. I'll have to get it delivered to a friend's house I guess.

We're planning on taking our moms to The Melting Pot (a fondue restaurant) for Mother's day. It would be very cool if we were pregnant by then so we could give them something that says Grandma and watch them make a scene (my MIL will surely scream).

My husband and I weren't planning on having any children for a few years after we were married so I wasn't looking for any signs on being pregnant. We went to Cozumel for our honeymoon and were pretty busy when we got back so, I didn't notice anything different. However, my husband and I were playing around one night (play fighting, wrestling, just being goofy) and he'd poked my breasts. I told him to stop because it hurt and he gave me this goofy look and said "What are you pregnant now or something?" I just stuck my tounge out at him and laughed.

I'd already had a pregnancy test (just in case) so I got up the next morning and used it. When it came out positive, I went into the bedroom, sat on the side of the bed, woke him up and said, "Okay smartass, so you remember asking if I was pregnant last night? Well, yep, I am." I've never seen him wake up so quickly in my life!!! I went to the doctor to have another test, just to be sure, but I was definitely pregnant!

We have been talking about TTC so this time I am thinking of doing something cute like dressing my son up in "Worlds Best Big Brother" stuff and sending him out to see daddy! :o)

These are such cute ideas! I was worried about how to tell my DB when I do get pregnant as I want him to be excited and for it to be special, the baby sports gear is perfect - he's a huge Nucks fan so I could get a baby-gro and a little stick! He used to play semi-pro hockey when we were younger and would love to get back into it so maybe if he knew he had a little skater on the way to train he would make more effort with his fitness!!

Now I just need to decide how to tell my parents. The in-laws will be easy as they've been waiting for us to have a baby since their first grandchild, DB's nephew was born a few years ago, but I think it will be a shock to my parents. I think honesty is the best policy with my folks, they don't respond well to subtlety!

So I just received my next Netflicks movie in the mail yesterday when an idea hit me on how to tell DH. We both love to watch movies, so I thought maybe I could use our video camera to make a movie with a photo slide show of us both as babies and finish with a shot of me telling him that we're going to have a baby of our own.

He travels a lot for work, so I have plently of time to make it without him knowing and could pop it into the dvd player on movie night. That way I wouldn't have to worry about getting my words right at the moment and can focus on his reaction. Not to mention that we'd have a keepsake for years to come...

I haven't really thought about this too much before but I have been thinking that it would be fun (since I am a photographer) to set up my camera and take a picture of my hands on my belly in the shape of a heart and then a picture of myself holding a sign saying coming soon...I would like to get them printed and then hang them for him to find as he comes in the door in the morning. My husband is a dairy farmer and so he goes out in the morning at 4:15 and then comes back in at 7:30 to wake me up and have breakfast with me. I would love to do this to surprise him! And then just wait for him to run up stairs excited! He proposed to me with pictures too so it would be perfect!

I honestly can't envision it, I'm pretty sure I'll be too blown away to be thinking clearly, but I do have a couple of pieces of baby clothing that were too cute to pass up, so hopefully I'll present them to him somehow cute!

these are all cute ideas but I talk to him about it too much and I think I will just tell him as soon as I know- I would have a tough time holding it in. I probably would just tell him in a page if he was overnight the day I found out.
We'll see though- maybe I'll change my mind.

My husband is a huge Texas Longhorns fan and as a joke when we were just married I found a "Baby Longhorn" video on Netflix and we watched it and laughed. He said how cool it would be if I told him that we were having a baby by putting in the video unexpectedly. I purchased the DVD a while ago and have it all ready to go when we get a BFP. I just hope it works as I've never tested it out!!

I'd like to get a big sister shirt for my daughter. I think we will tell our family the same way.

When I found out with her, my husband had already left for work before I even got up. I got a positive that morning and called him to see if he'd meet me for lunch. When he met me, I showed him the test and asked if he saw a second line. Very unoriginal, but I was so excited.

With our first pregnancy I took the test by myself on my day off work. My dr. had me come in for a blood test and then the next day they called me at work. It was sooo hard knowing all alone! I went to the GAP and bought a pair of pink booties and blue booties and told my husband to close his eyes and sit on the couch. It was his b-day so he thought he was getting a waaayy different suprise haha. I put the booties in his hands and told him to open his eyes and whispered I'm pregant. Then we both were shaking and crying and hugging (happy tears!). We went to Smith and Wolensky that night on a whim to celebrate.

My in-laws had invited my family to their house for Thanksgiving so we took two gifts and told each of our moms we brought them a present back from Myrtle Beach (we conceived our daughter there). Each mom got a bib that said I love Grandma.

With our second pregancy I took a test 7 days after emergency gallbladder surgery because AF was late. They test you the day of surgery but my test was negative. I called my husband into the bathroom and handed him the test and said "there are two lines arent' there?" He laughed and smiled and said we're going to have a baby. I busted out in tears because I was terrified that the surgery would cause a miscarriage or the drugs would have harmed the baby. NOT the way I imagined telling him about baby 2.

After giving our 2 year old daughter a "big sister day" and explaining what was going to happen we let her call her grandparents and the rest of the relatives and tell them mommy has a baby in her belly.

I'm now 30 weeks pregnant with baby 2. Our tests have been great along the way and everyone is reassuring us that the baby should be fine. (you always worry until its checked and in your arms though!) We'd like one more child after this. I'm hoping to fill my husband's car with pink and blue balloons and leave a congrats card with a pin for balloon popping on the windshield under the wipers. Hopefully the kids and I can be watching him pop the carload of balloons from somewhere else in the parking lot! I'd like to have some kind of Worlds Best Dad item on his drivers seat under the balloons too!

Awe. Fun to imagine.

ooooh I have thought about this since I met my husband.... I can't wait until I am pregnant so I can do this...

We are huge buffalo bills fans so..

I am going to get a buffalo bills gift bag and in it I am going to put a bills onesie, bottle, booties, and a little towel I found on amazon. I am going to tell him I bought him a gift and just give him the bag. No matter what gender baby we have, it is going to wear the onesie home from the hospital.

Then to tell my parents we are gonna do the "full house" method and make them dinner with baby carrots, baby back ribs, etc. and I am going to get my nails done with little footprints and give them some kinda "grandparents" gift

Aw, I like the #1 dad idea. How sad for him to not have a father figure.
Mara, your story is hysterical. emoticon
With my first, I didn't know, and my mom told me I was. So, while hubby was at his brother's house visiting, she dragged me to the store, got a test, and we watched the line turn pink. Of course, like clockwork, hubby walked in and found out that way. He didn't let me live that down that my mom knew before him...
With the m/c and my 2nd daughter, we had been TTC, so we both watched the line turn pink together.
With this last pregnancy, I THOUGHT I might be, because I was nauseous, and TIRED. We hadn't planned this one, so I went to Target and distracted my kids at the clearance end-cap while grabbing a test and tossing it underneath some items, haha. Then, when I came home and saw the pink line, I got giddy and started crying. I was really excited.
I called hubby at work, and asked him when he was getting home. He was confused and said, "Regular time... why?" I just wanted to hear his voice but knew it'd be stupid to say it over the phone, so I told him I had a surprise for him. I was non-stop giggling for the rest of the day. When he got home, I took him in the room and he said, "Let me guess... you're pregnant?" I was kinda disappointed, and handed him the test and he told me he already knew, because, "I can tell when my seed's been planted, baby." Haha.
He'll know we'll be TTC for the next one, so he'll be watching me like a hawk & will probably know as soon as I am, so I doubt I can do anything fun or well thought out. emoticon

I wish I could have been so classy lol The first time I was in utter shock, so I ran up the stairs to our loft and thrwe the test at him lol I had to explain what it meant, then I had to sit down LOL I think I was hyperventilating lol

The second time, hubby and I had a brutal argument the night before, I was upset because we were going on a year TTCing and nothing, he was telling me to relax, I was telling him to bite me lol The next morning I got up to pee and a test was in the bathroom, he'd bought it the nigth before because HE noticed, not me, that I was a week late. I took the test and when I opened the door he was standing there and my hands were just shaking, I couldn't stop. There was a faint line, and he just hugged me. Then our 2 and a half year old came running in for a hug too! lol

My hubby was adopted and shortly thereafter his parents divorced and he didn't see his dad hardly ever (like 3 times before he died). He tried to find his biological father and found he was killed in a car accident. His step-father didn't really want to claim him either (i know this b/c his mom told me that right after the wedding he asked if he was his dad now and his step-dad said 'no' flat out, hubby doesn't remember this tho) so needless to say he never really had a dad so being a dad someday is huge.

so when i'm preggers I'm going to give him this cheesey oscar award that I got in universal studios that says #1 dad. I'm also hoping to find a 'worlds greatest dad' shirt or something. I'm not going to say anything just give it to him and see how he reacts :)

So I'm sitting at my office daydreaming about getting pregnant (again) and came across a few articles about fun ways to tell your hubby that you're pregnant.

There are some fun ideas out there, but I bet this group has some truly great ideas. Anyone want to share???
