I'll leave the marathons to you guys....I'm sticking to the 5k runs. I actually missed the one 5k that I was starting to 'make mine' earlier this month in Ocean Isle Beach. It was just too dang cold and being two days before I went out of town I was not looking to get sick (childhood asthma seems to reappear with extreme cold + exercise).

Good for you guys nonetheless!

Hi and congrats on your marathon. I will run my 3rd one next year and pain and marathon seem to go together. but I keep training and hope I will get better, it is just a lot of miles to get ready for one, and for me that means I will up my base to 35 a week and max out at 70 before the race. The only way to avoid the pain is the run walk method, I think.

It's been a long time since I posted here and it's good to be back. I found a goal that should help focus and intensity. I ran my 1st marathon with a gazillion mistakes (see blog)resulting in a lot of pain. Henceforth, I've resolved to do another marathon the correct way with the educated plan and commitment. Anyone up for their 1st or 2nd marathon?
The avoidance of pain sure can be a motivator:-!
