I confess to also using the salad bar on occasion to grab pre-prepped broccoli, cauliflower, and bell peppers for steaming. I never take all of something, but I do make a good mix of things for the steamer!

I love our Supermarket's Salad Bar too. Great for variety, and for those hot, don't feel like cooking days. emoticon

One good thing about being here - they have the calories posted on the menus by each item.

I'm glad you found a place that offers reasonably good choices. That's very important, especially when your other options are temporarily limited.

Cheers,
Alex

It's at a supermarket I'm calling "Price Hopper." We have been here a month, and in a temporary apt. while ours is being finished. I didn't want to unpack much. The cost of living is higher, and this supermarket's real name is deceptive, but I can't tell how badly it's a deception since I don't know all the price differences between New York and Texas.

BUT, they have a great salad bar and I go and "make supper" there most nights. Everything is pretty fresh. I pile up what we each like, and put red onion on Allan's salad and some broccoli on mine, to identiify them. I use the least fat dressing, balsamic vin., but am bothered by its ingredients.

So, I've had 5 weeks off from cooking, besides MW breakfasts, and don't want to talk about lunches - Allan has a cafeteria at work.

In a day or two we should be moving again and I will start over in the kitchen.

Guess I'll continue this in "daily chat" or a blog. emoticon

I didn't say why I couldn't unpack one or two kitchen boxes and use the kitchen here. We have so many boxes, we can hardly walk in here. It was OK for about a week, then got depressing. But as time passed, we got closer to moving again and didn't want to unpack.
