For me the idea of small meals throughout the day turns into an all-day meal! I know, that's going way overboard, but that's what happens when I try to do it.

If you don't have a blood-sugar problem, and more meals lead to all-day grazing, at least for me, it's better to have 3 meals with a beginning and an end. I should say, 4 meals--but no more.

I'm messed up over time on that one. (Wow that sentence sounds right coming out of my mouth but doesn't look right in text at all ...)

I've had to endure hunger more than once in my life due to finances as well as survival like situations. While I do have to agree with the idea of being able to induce hunger thanks to choice, I often have some deep seated reservations about the feeling.

Not dismissing your feedback. I'm really glad you are not freaked out by it. Hopefully you dont run into the problem some of us have had with it becoming something you cannot make go away. No matter what you eat. My tri-athlete friend always called it the "training tapeworm." ... Of course, his idea of a starter snack for a little bike ride was over 2000 calories. Though anyone who casually bikes over 50 miles a day and doesn't consider it a workout has a few screws loose in my book.

I am also really like the feeling of being hungry. It is so nice to be able to "hear" one's body.

Now hungry and cranky is a whole different story....I like to avoid that one because that has the potential to lead me down a not so good road.

I said "hi" above, but just want to let you now that I visited your page and blog. Keep on sharing the photos, I love it. emoticon

Hi all,

I have been think about something today. What does it feel like to be hungry?

I know that for most my life i have been in the habit of eating when I am bored, stressed, antsy or idle. I also understand the importance of eating small meals through out the day to keep your metabolism up. With so much of my life focused on what i am eat and when i am eating i seem to be eating all the time.

As some of you know i have been photo journaling my daily food. it has been amazing. I am staying with in my calories and thinking before i eat.

I have also begun to feel hungry (not starving and not bored) just the little the little rumble in your tummy and slight drop in your blood sugar.

I realized i don't think i have ever allowed my self to feel hungry. I like it, its helping me to listen to my body eat when i am hungry and not because its "lunch time"

(on another note as a sociology student i have to recognized my privilege for the ability to choose to be hungry.)
