Excellent tips. I came to this team searching for some help/advice/encouragement and I found it. Thank you. Heavy into fatigue fog today. Hurting all over. Doc put me on new meds to titrate up slowly and I'm finding it hard not to be discouraged.
I'll get through. Thanks for the boost!

When you're often tired, it's very tempting to sleep until noon and spend evenings on the couch. But the research is clear on the folly of this. Although it's important that people with fibromyalgia get extra rest, take more breaks, and avoid overdoing it with exercise, completely eliminating physical activity can be just as bad for your symptoms. So try to move some every day. First, check with your doctor on smart exercise choices. But even something small, like a 10-minute walk every day, can be helpful. You can gradually increase the amount as your doctor recommends.You're no doubt aware of how excessive stress can trigger or exacerbate your fibromyalgia fatigue. In fact, some research suggests that the onset of fibromyalgia could be triggered by a severely stressful event, such as a divorce, a job loss, or the death of a loved one. So priority one for you should be learning to say no. Not overcommitting is one of the best ways to keep yourself from feeling stressed, which can help control your fibromyalgia symptoms. Use a day planner, and limit the number of things you schedule in a single day or week.Do you always push to the end, even though you're starting to feel it? Then it's time to learn how to pace yourself to avoid fibromyalgia fatigue. Don't trust yourself to stop before you get tired. Plan projects in chunks right from the start. Break up laundry duties into 2 days. When you exercise, consider three short sessions instead of one longer one. Schedule a sitting break for yourself when you run errands. Above all, resist the temptation to take advantage of your "good" days. Aim to accomplish the same number of tasks on good days as you do on bad days.

There's nothing to fear, you're as good as the best,
As strong as the mightiest, too.
You can win in every battle or test;
For there's no one just like you.
There's only one you in the world today;
So nobody else, you see,
Can do your work in as fine a way:
You're the only you there'll be

I have been having a major flare up for the last 5 months despite doing aqua aerobics 6x a week, being careful with my diabetes, and eliminating all caffeinated drinks. I am exhausted all of the time. All last year I had no flares at all. It has gotten so bad I can no longer work. Sitting at a computer for more than an hour a day guarantees I will not sleep. My memory seems to be a thing from the past. I write down everything. I keep looking for something which will stop this current flare and maybe turn things around a bit. Any and all ideas are welcomed.

Antidepressants I'm finally free of after 8 years. Past 2 years I packed on pounds started when I was on steroids. I never got rid of it.
I took celebrex today and still hurt.
I agree to try to do strength training before cardio.
Currently can't use my exercise equipment bc we are painting basement floor.

I am hopeful that in this team I can find friends to encourage and who understand what this feels like not to have energy and hurt.

Anyone find foods that cause flare ups?

Good For You!!! I worked with my roses yesterday afternoon when it had gotten cooler. Got all of them deadheaded. My back and shoulders hurt so bad last night. Took a good hot shower and that helped. Still a little sore today but nothing like last night.

I have started exercising a little more. I think that my fibro doctor was on to something when she told me to strength train and to use weights to help with the sore muscles in the morning or anytime during the day. I find that it helps alot.. It helps out with the stress also.

I believe exercise helps me with more energy. For me it also serves as a great stress reducer too.

Stress and mindless eating are my 2 major things. I can tell that stress is the number one thing. I do get in plenty of sleep though. Lately in the mornings though, I feel like every muscle in my body wants to rebel in the mornings and hurts upon awakening. There are sometimes that I wake up during the night and have trouble falling back to sleep. Once I'm there though I sleep pretty sound.

It really is seeming like stress can play such a role in so many things including preventing weightloss happening and creating energy deficits ... I'm trying to work on dealing with stress in healthier ways but still feel really stressed and can see where it is having an impact as well.

Thanks for sharing some of what helps you with energy!

I know sleep impacts things as well ... just need to work out how to have better sleep with less waking time (as many of us need/want to)

Definitely keeping stressors low is key, but life happens emoticon . I get more done when I have the freedom to take frequent breaks to sit down. This releases the cramping and allows me a fresh start, otherwise if I push through the pain (which has been my nature) I set myself up for a complete meltdown later.
I'm on day three of cleaning up my diet after a painful flare. Follow mostly paleo recipes. Love the new pegan plan too. Plenty of ginger tea. I'm not on an exercise plan but try to get in some yoga stretches and lightweights.

Number 1 on my list is making sure I am getting the best quality rest I can manage. I keep the amount of caffeine to no more than 2 cups in the morning, exercising regularly and practicing good sleep hygiene. Right now I'm battling an issue with waking at 3-4am for no good reason; I suspect hormones. Trying a few different things to get that under control.

I've also noticed that eating a low-carb eating plan and doing *moderate* exercise 5x/week helps with my energy levels.

I'm working at home these days and that has been a big game-changer for me, as I don't waste precious awake time with commuting, preparing food, putting on makeup, etc.

Probably one of the most important items for me is stress reduction; when my stress is low I sleep and eat better and stay active.
