I should have a Blackout this time.
The nutrition article I read was 9 Foods You Think Are Healthy but Aren't. It brought up these foods and gave reasons why each are not as healthy as one imagine by their name. Some listed were Veggie chips, Granola and Yogurt covered raisins. The one that would to something I could consume with my dietary restrictions is Vitamin Water. The article stated why this may not be as good a choice as we think. . A single bottle of vitamin-enriched water usually contains 2.5 servings or more when you read the nutrition label. That means you're consuming more than twice the calories and sugar listed on the label when you drink the whole thing.
The suggestion for using Vitamin water was to water it down so that it would not have as high a concentration of sugar and calories.
Now off to my nutrition quiz and I am blacked out!

I should end the day with 23 squares and 6 bingos. Just got to do my core workout today and I will go do a quiz shortly. The only thing I PROBABLY will not get done is cleaning out a drawer and writing a BINGO blog. BLC is requiring a blog I am about to put up, so unless I can incorporate BINGO into that, it won't get done. Will see. For now I am calling 230 + 60 for a total of 290.

Well, I did not do well, but since we still have a few days left in the month, I am going to go ahead and continue to mark squares until I get them all or the month runs out. Right now, as of yesterday. I only have 16 Squares and 1 BINGO, for a total of 170. emoticon

I am going on to finish out the month.

I-4: Yesterday I just felt the need to rest and not worry about things that needed done before our Bible study group met. I gave me until 2 PM to just be laid back. It felt good to rest.

N-3: though I am not tracking daily, I am practicing mindfulness and eating well enough that it is effecting the scales in good ways. Progress, not perfection!

I-1 New to the team. Tell us where you are on your journey now and what you will work to do different. Now that I have a definite diagnosis of Fibro I will be more conscious of my body and learning how to deal better with my flares!
I-2 My NSV this weekis more consistency with my total daily steps. This is what I was working on. I had not done more that 2 days in a row and this week I have made three!
N-2 Just Do It is one of my favorite motivational themes. To me it means to take everything into consideration and put one foot in front of the other and get on with the plan!
N-3 Another NSV is finishing 2 projects at home that required focus and my time. I am so glad to have them finished!

O-1: I read the article “Dealing with Hunger and Food Cravings” www.sparkpeople.com/resource/nutriti
on
_articles.asp?id=1436

Turns out it is on the very thing I am working to focus on right now, reviving my intuitive mindfulness with my eating and food choices.

In it, Sarah Haan, Registered Dietitian, says, “As babies, we ate intuitively: we fussed when we were hungry and stopped eating when we were full. As we grew older, the world around us began influencing what, when and how much we chose to eat. After years of advertising, imposed meal times, cafeteria offerings, holiday meals, grandma’s comfort foods, and yo-yo diets, many of us have completely lost touch with our real hunger and satiety signals. We confuse cravings with hunger and end up overeating—or emotionally eating—as a result.

“But hunger and cravings are very different, and by learning to distinguish the two, you can be more satisfied with your meals and reduce your calories without feeling the urge to continue eating. …”

This is the journey I am on: trying to retrain my body to know true hunger as opposed to appetite or cravings. The article does very well at giving direction for distinguishing hunger vs. satiety signals and when we should start and stop eating. It also does an excellent job of defining appetite and cravings: Appetite being foods of interest, and that appetite can override our hunger and fullness gauges. And cravings being food we desire. Sarah advises, “Usually, the foods you crave are not a necessity, nor do they serve a life-sustaining need.” Cravings, can change within minutes, dictated by thought, emotion, smell or sight. It is “usually triggered by emotions (stress, boredom, sadness, etc.), an attachment or fondness for a certain food, or proximity to appetizing food.” Then she advises, “Keep in mind that when you have a craving but are not physically hungry, you must look deeper into why that craving is there. …Dig into the reason behind your longing for a certain food.”

Sarah continues, “Cravings are normal and have a place in a healthy balanced diet. But learning to satisfy them in a controlled manner will keep your relationship with food in balance.”

I found the article very helpful, a great reminder of things we need to remember, especially as we work to not just track our food, but realize why we are eating what we are eating.

"When you stop to think about your hunger and fullness levels, your appetite and cravings (both the triggers and your response), the more in-control you'll be around food, which can help you return to an intuitive way of eating that helps you manage your weight without ever going hungry or feeling deprived."

BINGO!!!

Another motivational quote.

Don’t You Quit!

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up though the pace seems slow--
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than,
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victor's cup,
And he learned too late when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out--
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far,
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit--
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.

I am feeling some better today, not so down. I have adjusted my schedule to meet with Johnny's better and that is helping. I am feeling more on track with things. Still not 100% and hoping this is not just a better bad day but the first of the journey out of this slump. I will know better by tomorrow. And tomorrow is time with my church family, so that will help!

Week three is gone but I did not do very well. I only filled 10 squares. I am making a new start today but I will have to work to get caught up.

I found a new Fibro book at the library sale last night and it seems to have lot of great information!
My biggest struggle this week is just to get back to moving. I have been sleeping so much the last week that my body is hurting from just being mobile.
I have been catching up on my reading and attended a Facebook release party this week and won a great prize package!
I only have a few papers left in my shred or file bag. I will be able to call that a victory for sure by the end of the month!
I have a BINGO!

B-2 - I am feeling really down right now. Got a bad case of the don't wanna do. My goal for increase will be to push through. To increase my effort to make sure I am doing what I need to do to keep pressing forward while waiting for my attitude and mood to catch up with me. Being here to work on this today is a step forward on increasing my effort despite my mood and 'tude.

I-2 NSV, I am here! The past few days I have not wanted to do anything here more than checking in. But I am here and I am determined to not let this emotional slump get me down and keep me there. emoticon

N-2 The quote that keeps coming to my mind is a poem I wrote years ago and often share here. It is something I am working to remember as I struggle to want to.

Yesterday is gone
Tomorrow may never be
Now is all the time
God has gifted me
Will I use it well
Or waste it on the way?
Time will surely tell
The choice I make today.
emoticon emoticon emoticon by emoticon

N-4: Got up early this AM when I did not want to do so. I was sooo tired and wanted to sleep in, but I also wanted to get up in time to help DH with his shoes. Hip replacement makes it hard for him to do that. He had to be at work early. So I got up to help him.

O-2: My holiday goal I am working on for the holiday quarter is to plan ahead and not wait to the last minute on things. So for November I want to do two things, plan a gathering with my sis and her bunch. And decide quickly whether we are going to our DD2's for Thanksgiving. If not, make plans for our Thanksgiving meal here. I would like to have at least the skeleton of a plan by end of first week in Nov.

O-5: My greatest struggle and my solution have already been mentioned. I am in a slump big time for some reason. I am excessively tired, dulled, have no desire to do much of anything. Essentially I feel depressed for some reason.

It could be that I have eaten sweets every day for the past week! I am dealing with this by fasting for cleansing today and trying to get it back under control. I am also starting a crochet project. That usually helps.

It could be that I am spending too much time on my nook playing Majong! I am archiving that game, hoping that will keep me mindful. But I too easily unarchive, so I have in my head that if I do so stubbornly, because I am bored or being addictive, I will delete the game.

It could be that my 60th birthday is effecting me more than I realize. So I am getting into the word seeking God's heart, spending time with others, trying to stay busy.

It could be a health issue I am unaware of. If it continues through the weekend, I will make a Dr. appointment next week.

Okay, that gets me going on my BINGO for this week. emoticon

My goal for this week: I am ADDICTED to Majong Titans - a game on my Nook. I must break the cycle. My goal this week is that I will read and / or crochet and do my best to stay off of Majong. I will report two things: what of the other activities mentioned I did; and the number of Majong games played. There are 42 games for each level. I have done all 42 and then some at times. Hopefully I will show improvement on this. Playing hurts my carpal tunnel and my shoulder muscles. Improvement is a must! Hopefully I can have several days of not playing at all. We will see.

10/22 - Majong X emoticon Way too many ; Other activity - Finished a crochet project
10/23 - Majong X emoticon At least 25 games ; Other activity - Got my materials out for a new crochet project.
10/24 - Majong XArchived game. Hoping it stays there ; Other activity - Starting doll for granddaughter today.
10/25 - Majong X7 Archiving didn't last long, but I did manage fewer games ; Other activity - I started the doll for DGD and am making good progress. It is fun watching it begin to look like a doll.
10/26 - Majong X0 ; Other activity - crochet on doll project
10/27 - Majong X7; Other activity - crochet on doll project
