i don't deliver meals but i volunteer with serving meals on wheels at my neighborhood rec center. there's lots of seniors that come to the rec for meals and to socialize. i don't think we ever had bad weather that prevented delivery of meals. it's sad to think that many people still go hungry all over the globe...but especially sad to see it in america.

My Dad used to get Meals on Wheels. My son lives with my Dad and with my son's current job, he is home with my Dad on a daily basis, and my son cooks for my Dad and for himself.

There were times when my Dad was getting Meals on Wheels that the meals didn't come because of the weather. In the fall, the Meals on Wheels program passed out emergency rations boxed meals to sustain their customers at such times. The emergency rations boxes were packed and sealed in such a way as to be able to be kept until needed.

My Dad can still do some cooking and his cupboards are usually pretty full, so he was always all right if his meals didn't come. Also, between my two sisters and myself, we could often get food to my Dad, when needed.

My mother-in-law did for a short time before she passed away. She hated to, but she could no longer cook for herself.

Everybody tells me that they would love to knit, but they don't have time. I look at people's lives and I can see opportunity and time for knitting all over the place. My Gramma does on thanksgiving and Christmas. Other days she's too proud (stubborn) to accept them.

I use to help deliver and can't ever remeber a time here that we did not deliver, but then we don't get that really nasty weather much.....
but think that most people who deliver are older folk and when the roads are notn safe or the side walks you don't want them getting hurt too.....

No. I wanted my mom to get meals on wheels because of her not eating regularly and she didn't want to do it.

My grandma did when she was alive, even after she moved in with me, as my mother wanted her to have a hot meal at lunch time and to give me a break, Luckily though since she lived with me she would not have to depend on them if something happened.

Today on the television I saw that Home Bound Meals was not delivering today because of Winter Weather, I think that is sad as I know many elderly people that is sometimes all they have to eat and plus they like the company it brings.

My question is this:

Do you know anyone that recieves home bound meals?
