My mom has been paying for my membership there for almost a year. I wish I took advantage of it sooner I just began going to classes for the past month. I'm still trying to work on making it to the same classes for constancy, luckily one of my coworkers goes to the circuit training at 11:15 on mon wed and soon to be fri (Great for fat-burning since its a mix of strength and cardio, and you can take breaks if necessary she also has easier exercises if its to intense). I haven't tried zumba yet because I want my mom to make it to the gym with me and that seems to be something she is interested in so I want to start at the same level with her. I am also trying to make it to the strength classes at 9:30 on tue and thur although I have not been so successful lol. Step is great for your legs and coordination, a little difficult. STRETCH ON YOUR OWN TIME, I injured my self the first time because I didn't stretch throughout the day later, they are great classes but tough on your body. sometimes i have to take a nap b4 work :D

There's a cool connector trail from the YMCA directly into Cougar Mountain Park via the Coal Creek Trail. It's beautifula and refreshing this time of year (July) with the creek, waterfalls (2) and a mysterious cave hole opening!

I've been going to the Y but I still just can't seem to get there at the right time for the classes. My mom's visitng right now so my schedule's been out of whack, maybe when she goes back home next week I can try again to get to zumba.

Still, I've been enjoying using the equipment. It's such a great gym, I feel relaxed there.

We are going tonight for the the kids playground sports from 6pm-6:50pm, ages 8-10.

I will probably do strength training while my DD plays in the kids class.

I second what JKFNP2010 said. Zumba is so much fun and easy to modify for your needs.

I eased into classes by starting with Nia. It gave me the confidence to face Zumba. Now I love going to both and working up a sweat in a fun way.

Epeechick: definitely try Zumba! It's totally fun and people just modify the moves to their level of fitness or whatever.

Hi,
I'm new to SP. I go the Coal Creek Y and I think it's wonderful. It's amazing how many classes and activities they have. I've been trying to work up to classes, haven't quite got there yet. Hope to do Zumba soon and maybe some strength.

Our family has the Seattle all facility membership. We love Coal Creek for the kids pool.

We go about 3 times per week. We live on Mercer Island so we alternate between Coal Creek and Bellevue as they are both 7 miles from our house. The Bellevue Y has a track and a park nearby. We walk the track while our 8 year old plays in the park.

My current times to be there are:
Sun - varies, usually after 1pm, ellipticals
Mon - 11am, Pilates
Tue - 6pm, Nia
Thu - 3:30pm, ellipticals
Fri - 6:15pm, Zumba

Drop a line here with when you might be there! Seriously, I would love more friends on this journey.

Also, has anyone done any swimming lessons with their kiddos at the Y? Mine is 2-1/2 and it's time to start thinking about it as I know she'll want to be in the pool soon.

Hi!

I am a member of the Coal Creek YMCA, and would also love to meet some other Spark People there! I try to go during school hours, or on the weekend mornings. Would love to meet up with anyone there for some mutual encouragement! :)

I am glad to have your feedback on the Coal Creek YMCA! I have taken the tour and thought I would join later within the year. I now will join sooner than later.

Just wondering if any other Eastsiders had joined the new Coal Creek YMCA in South Bellevue. I joined when it opened and have to say, I am so impressed with the programs they offer.
Wondering if anyone would like to meet up for classes and/or occasional workout buddy. I'm at Nia on Tuesday nights, and will be trying to find a regular Zumba class that works with my family's schedule.
Would love to see some other Sparkers there!
