6480 steps today. did as best I could today food wise no smoothie but will have one tomorrow for sure if you are interested you can see under what are you eating today what I eat and drink each day. It helps keep me accountable.

This morning I weighed in at 58.2 kilo's with internal visceral fat of 31.3%

Up a tiny bit on last week but I think the reason is my food is becoming too stagnant or predicable for want of a better word, at breakfast and lunch so my body is getting used to it.

I need to change it up a bit. Today I will change my shake / smoothie at lunch up to include more so that I don't need to add extra food along with it to feel satisfied.

This change maybe all I need to do. We'll see what they scales say next week.

So far today I've done 2791 steps will be over my 3000 steps daily goal before I head to bed later tonight.

I'm off to watch a TV show that has me hooked. Even though I know one of the people in it is an actor and some other things about the show that is to grab ratings. Even though those things annoy me it still has me hooked in. My mother and husband and I all watch it. For any Aussie in the team it's Married at first site on channel 9. nite all

I have done alright today. 4390 steps. Did not over eat and kept to my goal of having my health shake / smoothie everyday. Even if I am not losing heaps of weight I am feeling much better and healthier because of my new plan. emoticon everyone emoticon

6280 steps today and going well. All in all march is turning out to be a good month for me health and weight wise. This challenge if you like is really keeping me onto a good way of eating etc...

today I did well except for 4 choc chip biscuits I had with my green tea while watching tv a bit tonight was watching a show we had recorded.

6496 steps today. Am finding it great adding all those mix of herbs to my daily shake. Now it's become a habit to have the health shake every day no matter what. emoticon

I'm happy with my progress so far!

We are defrosting the refrigerator and I walked 11,834 steps in the process. Back and foot are a little sore today, but this too shall pass.

did okay today and did normal walking of 3639 daily steps that was up until 4.00 pm when my garmin ran out of charge so have logged that amount in today even though I know it was more.

I did have my health shake today and really like having it daily and adding all those fresh herbs from the garden. I'm sure all those nutrients help in some way.

Paula - I agree there is a change in hormones as the male body ages, just as there is in the female body and our intake needs change right along with it.

We just returned from a long weekend in Atlanta celebrating my niece's wedding (the last of the girls to wed - one boy left). Other than a seeing family, I did not do much except feast and was surprised (and delighted) to find my weight up only .4 lbs and my body fat down 1%.

Per my podiatrist, I will begin slowly walking during lunch and build up to my hour over the week. Lots of raking of needles and gardening to do as spring is just around the corner...

Did not too bad today overall my steps were 4180.

when you lose the weight Richard I'm guessing it is all just fluid and would be to start with? When you say none lost YTD I wonder why that is?

Are you still doing your exercises?

How many calories are you consuming daily I can't remember? Perhaps if you are limiting calories to be able to have a beer daily instead (If I remember that correctly you said that a while back?) Then perhaps the beer is the reason for no real long term weight loss so far? I don't know and of course I'm no expert I'm just assuming perhaps maybe?

I know exercise is hard for you like it is for me so when all the things you look up and people say get some exercise that is easier said than done. Hopefully one of these links may offer some help or something new to think about.

The other thing worth mentioning perhaps not sure but is there such a thing as true Male menopause? Not the joke manopause or whatever it is but for true real menopause for males? I know with menopause for females like myself at the moment weight loss is made that bit harder or virtually impossible till I've finished going through it. There may not be anything in this for a man not sure but thought I mention it in case.

My doctor is not big on supplements either. I took mine with me on my last visit to show her and she basically said one of them I could take if I wanted it probably would not work and that all the rest were not scienticially proven LOL

Then she rings me up at home after some xray results and basically says whatever you been doing or taking the last 5 years even if I don't agree with it keep doing it as it seems to be working you've had no further degeneration in your hips. so there you go!

As long as our supplements are the correct ones and not brands made with synthetics I think we should keep taking them while they are helping or working.

Take care with that walking.

Did well with my sleep had 8.5 hours and was in bed by 9.00 pm so I'm happy with that.

Thanks KALIGIRL! Sorry to hear your foot is still swollen and tender. emoticon I really hope you have a speedy healing process with your foot. Rest that foot ready for your family wedding.

Oh well I guess you can at least try to watch your portion sizes and try and just eat healthy less processed foods. This way then when you are okay to do the walking again you won't have completely lost all progress.

I did well sleep wise last night was in bed by 9.15 and had 8.5 hours sleep so happy with that one.

Not able to put much effort into either the weight loss or emoticon last week as foot is still swollen and tender. Headed out of town for a family wedding this week, so it may be April before I really engage, but prep work is never wasted!

To add to the post from earlier today my step count for today is 5687 steps so far at 7.29pm. I've also done well and have only had 2 cups of coffee today baby steps has worked day one emoticon

okay I weighed in this morning 57.9 kilo's and 31.9 visceral internal body fat!

I now know I'll do great with my new plan and am still challenging myself trying to make sure I have my smoothie everyday and eat less or no processed rubbish. I also need to cut back on coffee and get to bed at a more reasonable hour. but I can do this will keep posting here till the end of the month how I am going.

How is everyone else going with sticking to your plans? Are you seeing any actual weight loss and improvements in your overall health or is it not really working for you and you need to change things up a bit? I love how we can support and motivate each other. emoticon everyone.

For a younger woman a body fat percentage of about 30% is considered normal,
so you are doing quite well

My body fat percentage according to my scales is: 32.1% I think from memory I'll check it tomorrow morning when I weigh in.

did okay food wise under the circumstances last night out at my dad's for dinner. So far i'm still figuring it out and learning lots about different parts of my body and how they all work in together and how important it is for A L L your hormones to be balanced which can be easier said than done so I'm also finding out. This can affect weight loss greatly.

You wouldn't think so but we are complex human beings lol

hoping that I do alright food wise today in keeping with my challenge so far so good! emoticon

KALIGIRL That's awesome thanks so much that link was really interesting and made so much sense.

You also alerted me to the fact that a few months ago when I had to reinstall windows on my computer I did not re install my Garmin Viosmart HR tracker so have now done that. I always wondered lol why it did not sync with spark people LOL now I know why.

Your stats are awesome and you sound like you are lucky to have good genes.

I'm borderline "skinny-fat" (thank goodness good genes keep me from chronic disease)

and have only been in the average category a very short portion of my postmenopausal life.



My goal is not only to lose the weight gained since surgery, but to move back a 25% body fat. Not sure I'll get there this month, but building muscle mass is my long-term health goal.

steps 3455 today but my hips are playing up so I have been taking it easy.

Over went on my calorie range due to having fish and chips for dinner tonight.

Won't be having that again too much fat and being a nomad geno type and Liver body type it is hard for me to digest fat so I know I did the wrong thing. That won't be happening again. I can do better and i will do better. The more I learn the more determined I am to succeed.

I ate it tonight as I was craving it lol no more though enough is enough right?

The funny thing to look at me I'm not obese by any means but I do know I have way to much weight on my stomach for my poor old hips to carry around.

Not a lot of people would understand what I am getting at. they would just look at me and say she's not fat which is kind of true in a way.

But.......................i know all that extra stomach fat makes it heavier on my hips.

Today I've done 6466 steps and consumed 1016 calories.

Don't you hate it when you've lost steps?
My fitbit allows me to guestimate during charging which I really appreciate.

4154 steps so far today. Was blessed to attend my bi-monthly zero balance massage (first one of 2017) and she worked on my feet, so swelling and stiffness is down!

So far so Good for me calorie totals are 953 calories for the whole day. No steps counted today argh..............my garmin tracker was out of charge. It's all good now though.

How is everyone else doing? Did you go alright with your program today?

Sounds great everyone.

I have a Garmin tracker and have mine set to let me know when I reach 5000 steps. I have it set in Sparkpeople as a goal/streak to get in at least 3000 steps per day as I would hate to walk less than that per day.

With my hips troubles walking can on days be very hard without pain for me. But I do aim to do no less than 3000 steps most days lately I've done between 5000 - 8000 quite regularly.

I'm hoping with the lower calorie range and no extra formal exercise other than those normal daily steps I should lose some or at least 1 kilo by the end of the month.

I'll let you all know here how many steps I do every day here and how I've gone with the calorie range.

This should be awesome to see how we've all gone at the end of the month.

My biggest problem is sweets. I am going to exercise 4 days a week and do strength training 2 days a week. I will only have 1 sweet per week and it will be less than 250 calories.

emoticon No pie for me but I am going to have a small piece of cake for my sister and my mom's birthday on Saturday.

I am going to do 8,000 or more steps a day for 6 days a week. (I never get that many on Sunday's and most of the time on Saturday's, so I am working on getting that done on Saturday's then I will add Sunday's.) emoticon

Keep drinking 8-10 glasses of water per day. I started doing this about a week ago so I want to keep it up. emoticon

I'm emoticon again emoticon so was able to get on the scale and over the 72 booted days gained 8 lbs, so I will join you.

I use FitBit and MyFitnessPal and re-calibrated them to lose a pound a week. My daily calorie intake is now 1200 with light activity. As my foot heals, I plan to up my steps to 10,000 and my calorie intake will adjust accordingly.

My challenge I am setting myself from now till the end of March is this:

I am lowering my calorie range in the nutrition tracker and going to try to keep to this lower range and run the feedback report each evening after I have finished tracking all food and drinks for the day. the feed back will tell me how I've gone for the day and what nutrients I have lacked for that day. So I can know where to improve on the eating score.

I am not going to worry about doing any extra exercise other than what one would do on a normal day doing housework, gardening, cleaning the car and all those usual things we have to do periodically.

I may however go back to my exercise physiologist and see what she has to say I might, not still undecided on this one.

I will still do my normal Monday morning weekly weigh-in.

At the end of the month I will be able to see what progress if any I have made with my weight loss.

My calorie range I have set myself is 1000-1100 calories. By eating no junk food and eating only 3 meals a day BREAKFAST, LUNCH AND DINNER with a protein at each meal, I feel I should hopefully see some success. I also think with the plateau busting spark coach program, I should hopefully see and have some success.

If you wish to join me with my challenge or have a challenge for the rest of the month that you are working on please let us know.

You will see what I eat and drink daily as per normal by my post in the "What Are You Eating Today?" post in the general discussion forum.

I'm doing this challenge as a test for myself. I'll be eating according to my usual eating type plans. It will be interesting to see how I've gone at the end of the month.
