WTG!

Worked in the yard - over 10,000 steps each day - will see what the podiatrist has to say this afternoon...

The trouble is when you live a long time in the same place, it is easy to accumulate things.
Even after bringing up a family we still have things like childrens toys and books stored.

In recent years this has been handy tho as we have had neighborhood children over to visit and they have been able to play with some of these toys.
Since our children moved out we now have a spare room full of shelves which are bursting with boxes of craft materials. My wife has always been interested in crafts, spurred along from a period when she was a Girl-guide leader.
We wont hold our breath waiting for Grand-kids, although we will be well-equipped if this event eventually takes place.
Cheers

@Sharon - We have two too but one is really tiny and we never used it (it was given to us) the second one was from our wedding registry and I used it to make chicken tacos (chicken thighs/breast + taco seasoning + salsa).

I definitely recommend using them, google some easy recipes and if you can freeze leftovers that should make future meals even easier.

@Richard - I hope the trial goes well. Our slowcooker has the removable insert and it's dishwasher safe so that makes cleaning it easier, we have nowhere to store it so it does take up counter space. You guys can always regift the cookbook if you don't want to get a slow coker.

@KALIGIRL - Exciting for my husband but just worrying for me but I'm the worrier, changes give me anxiety and it takes me time to warm up to them.

The husband is going to tackle the yard this weekend. While I continue my journey of trying to de-clutter the house. So much stuff everywhere I want it all gone!

I need to do the weeding thing, too. I guess that should be my priority and it counts as a workout, too.

Richard - there are some wonderful new combo-cookers available including slow and pressure along with smaller sizes for those of us who no longer have large families and less storage space

Looking forward to the emoticon Labor Day weekend, not only to get some major weeds bagged, but also to see if I can't start my strength training program and legume research.

We had a crockpot when first married.
It was a bit of a pest as it didnt have a lift-out bowl and was hard to clean
There has been an explosion in slow-cooker recipes in the last few years.
My wife was just given such a cookbook for her birthday.
We may now have to investigate getting a slow-cooker............another appliance to store somehow. emoticon

Sandy - how exciting to start a new business! Eating out will be a treat indeed.

Richard - thanks for the clarification - those are my favorite foods, so I wouldn't last too long...
I agree the autoimmune diseases do seem to have similar food requirements.

Sharon - I have one large and a 3-pot crockpot (for family gatherings). I started to search for entrees and side dishes that could be started together, but was discouraged by what I found. May add that search back to my September challenge list.

I actually have 2 crockpots, but never use them. I should drag them out and give it a try. Thanks for the reminder.

Nickel allergy can be an important factor in dermatitis and eczema.
I have psoriasis.
I regard inflammation, allergies and auto-immune diseases to be somewhat related.
I will be excluding chocolate, nuts, seeds, many cereals, beans, peanut butter and lastly alcohol, which in itself and its breakdown product acetaldehyde to be a membrane disruptor and irritant.
This will just be a trial, & I will be posting updates in my blog.
I will still try to stick to a mainly Flexitarian diet, even tho with what I am excluding it may look a little like a Paleo diet with Dairy thrown in.
Cheers

@Sharon - slow cooker time approaches have you tried slow cooker soup recipes (I don't even know if you have a slow cooker).

@Richard - I hope it helps!

I too also need more fibre and beans are cheap.

Um for the next couple of months budget is going to be tight as family is going to start a business so a new thing for me will be not eating out more than once a month :P.

I am working on doing pistol squats as far as exercise goes, but for eating, I think I will try to add in more soups. I only like soups that I make and it takes some work, but I think it will be worth having them more often. I will use lentils, beans, etc. No meats in my soup--YUK!!

Richard - not sure what a low nickel diet is, but good luck!

Vicki - I'm with you on adding more legumes to my diet and I hope to eat as well on the weekends as I do during the work week.

I think for September I'm going to work on getting more fiber in my diet. I'm always low in that so I'm going to be eating more beans and other foods that are heavy in fiber.

For me, it has been suggested on another team that a low-nickel diet can help cure eczema .
With this end, although I have psoriasis, I will be making some changes to see if this helps.
