Do you feel Tv shows like "The Biggest Loser" or "My 600 lb. Life" should be banned from the public?
Personally, I'd have to say yes to both shows. The one only shows a partial story of what the contestants go thru and don't show the verbal abuse they receive just to try to beat the other team, or how dangerous the show really is for someone trying to follow the contestants at home, without doctor supervision. The other show tends to make a mockery of how someone lets themselves get to that point due to whatever reason ( some admitted they just didn't have the will power to say no to food or they let childhood situations influence them). It becomes a fascination to see if they can get themselves in shape even with the surgery. Some still don't manage it.
I think by making it a public display like that tends to dehumanize them and not see them as real people, with real feelings. I'm probably saying it all wrong, but I just don't feel it's right. It's almost like we're making fun of them just for the sake of TV ratings. And it really does nothing to help those watching the shows except to feel sorry for those on the show.
