I particularly like smoothies that 'hide' the taste of greens for those who were never veggie eaters - they allow for a transition of the taste buds...

Thanks for the smoothie recipe links, I've been looking for recipes like that for some time, especially for busy mornings before work.

Thank you for sharing those links they both had awesome information. While fruits can be healthy we still have to be careful with them.

Definitely interesting emoticon Paula.

I found this site thescienceofeating.com/fruits/ which suggests not combining fruits with any other foods as they digest so quickly, or eating them before you eat other foods www.fredericpatenaude.com/fruit-arti

e.html

I may be experiencing the "fermentation" effect noted in the second article as I do mix the proteins with the fruit - will have to do some further research...

Your smoothie recipe sounds delicious. My mother would like that mix. I was thinking today to add chia seeds to my smoothie and i was already going to add flaxseed meal.

I like having smoothies it's my diet shake if you like without all the rubbish that goes with the shop brought diet shakes in the packets. My sister in law used to have them and she never really lost weight while having them.

Here's an article for anyone interested to know more about those store brought ones:

www.mamamia.com.au/diet-shakes/

and another if you want to know even more:

www.12wbt.com/blog/nutrition/
are-meal-
replacement-shakes-good-for-you/

I guess my smoothie if you like is a kind of a diet shake. but I justify it as being healthier than those shop brought meal replacement ones as I know what is in it and can adjust it to suit myself and my tastes.

I'm aiming to make and have one everyday. There is looking like there could a few days where I have it with my main meal at night so I would eat less of that perhaps just have a garden salad and a shake.

I generally don't feel like it in the morning so am having it at lunch. But for those days when I am out with my mother I will have it at night.

I am learning to be flexible I always was flexible but now days I am even more so. I work around things. It can be hard at times as I live right next door to my mother. We do lots of things together, but most of the time we are on the same page but sometimes with weight loss we are not always.

She could loose a bit (not a lot as she is not that overweight) but says at her age soon to be 75 she eats healthy (which she does most of the time and likes to eat according to her blood type). What she says is at her age she's too old to bother with the whole counting calories / tracking food thingy. Though at times she will do it for a day or 2 lol

Another thing I'll add while I remember about Smoothies is this: When I was on WW earlier this year I noticed that when added the smoothie ingredients into their nutrition tracker if you like online.

I had to tick a box to say whether or not it was a smoothie. When that box was ticked the more fruit you had the more WW Smart points it used up. so I'm guessing it would be the same for calories of course.

But with the WW Smart Points fruit on there own did not go up more in smart points only it seemed when blended together for some reason. Fruit on their own most of them were 0 smart points when blended together used up quite a few points.

I thought this was worth noting.

So from now on when making smoothies I only add two types of fruit at once.

Just thought you may find that bit interesting perhaps?

Anyhow thanks for sharing your recipe KALIGIRL.

I love smoothies, but we rarely make them.
The closest thing I have is my loaded coffee each morning which includes a diet shake in amongst other ingredients.
Smoothies can make a quick and delicious meal substitute at any time of the day.

some breakfast smoothies you may like to try. you could also have them for lunch instead I don't see why not.

On and off I've made health shakes / smoothies for a while but I intend to get back to having one every day either for breakfast or lunch. Mostly at lunch when I am home but if it's a day when I have to go out I'll have it for breakfast. It pays to be able to be flexible.

With mine I usually like to add fresh grated turmeric and Fresh grated Ginger, sometimes 1 clove of garlic and fresh herbs from the garden. I usually use organic unsweetened oat milk in mine.

I've also brought fruit etc.. when on special like strawberries, pineapple etc.. wash it and cut it up and frozen it in zip lock bags in portion sizes so it's easy and ready to use. Ice can be added a couple of cubes if not using frozen fruit to make it colder. Things like organic flax-meal and organic psyllium husk can also be added. You can be as creative as your taste buds allow.

I have a nutri -ninja auto IQ 1000 wats blender that I like to use for mine.

Hope you enjoy some of these recipes and find one perhaps you may like to try.
