Great job Lovey! I remember that you struggled last year with the swim at this race, so I'm so glad you finished!

I'm jealous of you girls that got to do it, I was actually registered for it, but ended up having to back out b/c our vacation to Florida got switched to that week.

In a way it was sort of a blessing, b/c I'm also training for my first full marathon and am already exhausted, so I can't imagine having had to train for a Tri at the same time. I still want to do it next year though.

Be fearless.

I made it. I was worried about the swim. I brought a tinted goggles and nontinted pair. Glad I did because no sun meant I could use the nontinted goggles which I prefer. At the dress rehearsal, the swim took me an hour so I was hoping I could finish it in that time. Imagine my surprise when I got out in 47 minutes!!
Bike ride was slow as expected but the run was really slow. It took me 53 minutes wheras it should have been like 40 minutes max. I finished in 3:35

It's a little over an hour drive for me. My good friend from college lives less than 3 miles from Centennial park, so I'll stay with her. I know what you mean, I am an early riser as well and like to have my workouts completed well before 9am if possible. Esp now in this heat! I think htere is relief on way tho for the weekend.

I have another friend doing the Princeton ride this weekend. I am actually heading to Penn State this weekend. LOVE to ride and run there. Last weekend of training!

Yay fellow Penn Stater!! What did your hubby graduate in?

I live in the area of the race so getting there is not a problem for me. I have ridden the course several times slowly. I am not a fast biker but my hybrid can make it. How far a ride is it for you? Every Sunday a group rides the course. This Sunday will be the last ride. It starts at 9am on Sunday from Princeton Sports in columbia. It is a no drop ride and Princeton Sports guys drive along to provide road support. I will do the group ride this week for the first time. I am an early riser and usually finish biking and running the course by 9am.

P.S. You can bleed Penn State blue and white along with my hubby. He was class of 91.

Just double checked the wave, no changes for me.

I only rode the course once, & that was while it was under construction. Thought my bike was going rattle apart. I heard it is like riding on glass now, very nice! Did you ride the course?

Are you from the MD area?

I am in wave 5 starting at 7:12, right before you.
I am just happy to be going early enough to finish with the rest of the waves.

They had updated the waves a week ago so make sure you check back for future changes.

Have you been riding the course?

Yes, I was at the "dress rehearsal" a couple of weeks ago. It was a great experience and my first chance at any REAL open water swimming. I thought it was so well organized and well run!

Do you know which wave you are in? My start is 7:18.

I am doing the IG Columbia. The race is usually organized and yes lots of women.
I will be the one coming out of the water last as I am a slow swimmer but as long as I do it within an hour, I am good.

Did you do the practice swim 2 weeks ago?

Lovey

I did Las Vegas in May. It was really well organized and a lot of fun! You will have a great time. Good luck!

I am competing in this event next weekend. Just curious if anyone else here is too? It looks to be a great event, over 2000 women!
