thats a bummer about the tris, i am not a big fan of the mud races but they bring in the money, up in here Minnesota, they get $50 for a 5k and they run them for the whole week end. 35 out the shoot every half hour for 8 hours saturday and sunday.
aHave fun on your 5ks, I am doing a santa run, not pushing for time, just to meet with other runners and enjoy the cold morning

I'm down in Florida so many of our events are during the winter months. Because the area is so seasonal many event organizers aren't here to advertise their races until the last minute. I am doing our local 5K "Turkey Trot" on Thanksgiving morning. It's a fun event. Many people dress up like pilgrims and turkeys for the race. It also brings out a big crowd along the race path.

Then in December there is a 5K along the beach on Siesta Key. This is the 2nd year for this event and it'll be the first time I will run it. Starting in January, a person can run a road race almost every weekend if they had a mind too. There are 5K's, 10K's and half marathons choose from every weekend. You can run a race on Saturday and another on Sunday if you wanted to.

Triathlons are a little harder to come by. The new thing down here are these "mud runs" and many of the old triathlons have been replaced by these events. If you are a triathlete in Florida you have to do a lot of traveling. My area has gone from 12 events to 4 during the December - May period opting for more road races and shorter distances in order to draw more participants.

Oh well. I'll enter races are they are advertised I guess.

Welcome Back Belmar,

I actually know where Belmar is, just south of Asbury Park on the Jersey Shore. I'm glad to hear you had a successful summer.

What is your plan for next year?

I know I've been gone a few months, but does that mean everyone had to take the summer off?

What's everyone been doing? Let's hear some Success Stories! Who did what event in how much time?
