I made hair-ties, and a bow that can be slipped on. This could be worn alone or tied around a hat band.

These are aprons I'm sewing for a breakfast that our red hatters are going to host. I'll have 8 aprons, and will applique something on each. Once our event is over with, I'll keep the aprons until our next event....whenever that may be.

Road trip + spare yarn = I was able to complete a Linus Blanket. I think I like this way of using up yarn. emoticon

We recently learned of an elementary classroom that is in need of a set of books. These are books that all the students will need to read and have access to a limited supply of the required reading. Think about how it is when you're in a bookclub that has every member needing to read the same book, with a library that may only have 2 or 3 copies of it. This was the case for the classroom I'm mentioning. All the students need to read the same set of books, so it made sense for us to help purchase another set for them.

Altho our group generally makes the same kind of fleece blankets, I was also told that we could make any type of blanket we wanted. I've decided to start crocheting & donating an afghan. I have a lot of extra yarn.

Another group project we did, once, was to make & fill necessity bags. They are simple cloth bags, about 8-10 " square, made out of cotton fabrics...a simple drawstring closure. They were then filled with full sized toiletries: shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrush, lotion, hairbrush, and a few other things. We filled them to the brim. These were then given to our county sherriffs office, where they'd give them to a local battered womens shelter. The reasoning for the full sized products is so they would have something to last awhile. A friend in our sewing group was just asked to sew up a bunch of the bags for a church project; it was requested that the bags be sewn with the darts at the bottom seam (so they'd stand up better.) All good ideas.

Does your group like to do group projects?

Ours does Linus Blankets, sometimes as a group & most of the time members working on them individually. We've worked on other group projects, too, but the blankets are the main one we do.

The other half of this question is if you have any fun projects you've done, yourself, and would like to share. Like making embellishments for the fancy red and purple hats, bows, fascinators.

I have a few diff ideas, but, none that I've worked on...yet. The busy-ness of everyday keeps me from getting started at things. Working on creative projects is such a pick-me-up, for me.

Please share!
