I agree with SlimmerKiwi. But between now and when you have to make up your mind in three months, I'd read up what the numbers mean and what, if any, alternatives are available. Then have a real talk with your doctor about the benefits and drawbacks of statins and other forms of treatment.

The secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old, but on building the new.--Socrates

I would be guided by your Dr rather than an unqualified person on the Internet's comments. Your Dr has your health info on hand and is qualified. If you don't want statins perhaps you could ask for a referral to a Registered Dietitian who is qualified to help you nutritionally.

65 yr old male, 150 lb, BMI of 22. I try to get an average of 45 minutes of moderate exercise/day.

My Sept 2017 results Tot Chol 239, Tri 61, LDL 154, HDL 73 (tot Chol/HDL 3.3 'normal' I think) (yr 2015 Tri was 76 & LDL was 168, I must be doing something right?)

My doctor says although my risk of CHD is low, I will get some benefits by starting statins. I promised to re-do test in 3 months time.

I don't think I need to start on cholesterol meds, what do you think?
