I had the joy of a 24hr turnaround trip... Flew Oak to JFK Wed & back Thurs. afternoon/night. gah!

I indulged in some food debauchery on Thursday and it just spilled all over Friday's dinner and Saturday's lunch, so I missed the mark some. Oh well, today's another day! :-)

Well I got over my "first-time somewhere" anxiety and went to the local pool today and swam laps! By the fourth lap I thought, "wow I'm old and fat!" as I was out of breath and having to take a 30 second breather after every 2 laps, and even thought of stopping... but then I hit a groove and complete 10 laps (It may have been 12, but I lost count, so I'll count low). The 3.5 mile bike ride there was good, and the mile back home was fine. But man am I tired now & I still have to walk the dogs! *phew*

I bought a 10 visit pass, so I guess I'll be going again! emoticon

all in all, I'm pleased with myself!

When I left work today I went to the drug store to run an errand, and then to the bank downtown to deposit a cheque - all on my bike! I haven't done any real street riding for errands in 15 years and I felt apprehensive, so I was very excited about doing it AND that it went well. I won't be hesitating anymore! Oh, and I clocked 8.35 miles in the process :-)

Tomorrow, it's back in the pool to do laps after a 20 year absence & then ride my bike back home (omg, I'm acting like I'm 17 again ;-D)

Congrats on meeting your goals Twist! And G it sounds like you are well on your way to your old running self. Alicia, congrats on sticking to it! (I know on travel, the hotel gyms can be a mixed bag).

For me, I rode "Killer", my road bike last weekend for the first time. Got wider tires for it to increase stability a bit. Did ok. Still plagued with headaches though, so another CT, another round of meds. But so far, Tahoe is still on in Sept, and DH agreed to do the Solvang 50 in March for my birthday. emoticon

I'm late posting my goals, but I've been working on them!

I'm going for:

-- running 29/30 days (I felt like I needed a rest day, and I took it already on Weds when I was exhausted and it was pouring down rain)

--swearing off of supermarket samples! I'm at 5/6 days, and the slip I had was just one little sample, not the meal I usually end up with on shopping days! The side benefit is that I go shopping less often and spend less.

emoticon Santa Monica to Manhattan Beach and back 26.5 miles. Usually, I would have gone to Redondo, but got tired at Manhattan. We had breakfast at the Terrace in Venice.

Yesterday 60 minutes hike in the back parts of Descanso Garden with DH.

Not only did I get my bike fixed, but I had my hybrid tires replaced with city street tires... what a HUGE difference - I've been enjoying my commute to work and the tires have actually shaved a few minutes off my ride. woohoo!

I wasn't even close enough to have a cigar dangling for me.

Run 3-4 times per week (depending on race day)
Get myself into at least one spin class this month. I have heard the rave but I have never tried it.
Get to my goal weight by the end of the month.

I guess I'm going to be boring and stick with the same old, same old...

* Exercise at least 4x/week
* Exercise 19 hours/month
* Eat vegan at least 21 days/month
* Hit 135 or less at some point in the month

I've been doing great exercising at least 4 times per week, but I've been falling short of my total hours since I frequently only get 30 minutes a day. I need to have more days of 45 minutes or more. Also, the non-dairy part of my diet is really working for me. I've been vegetarian over 15 years, but I really feel so much better when I also cut out all dairy products (eggs, milk, butter, cheese, etc.).
