Last night, did Tempo runs on the Track...in the rain while a Lacrosse game was happening. I swear there were people in the stands watching me like I was crazy or something.

As of 3/31 - recap
1) 150 miles by bike - 86.93 miles total (AM 7.46 miles old bike, PM - new bike 1 mile 3rd spin - still trying to get used enough to "Roadie" to get in distance), Disappointed in the miles, but proud of the number of rides.
2) 8 days yoga - 0 days total - hmm yoga hasn't been on my radar this month - might use as bonus next month
3) in range 20+ days - 18/20, in range 13, went over yesterday (forgot some nuts I had as snack) in a row. - didn't hit my number, but came prety darn close. Best I've ever done after a vacation.
4) 20+ days cardio - 11 days total (9 bike ride, one walking dvd, 1 walk in park)Had many sleep issues this month - so didn't get in the cross-training as I'd hoped. Still got in my bike rides.
5) Maintain within 2 pounds on vacation - goal met

Well, most of my goals fell short, but I do weigh less than when we went on vacation, and I'm stronger at bike riding. These miles include a hefty elevation ride up a canyon - so April will bring new opportunities to improve.

I keep thinking I should give myself some "credit" for all the walking I did in NYC, but I feel guilty for counting it as exercise when it was so much fun!

Weight: 135.8/135 Sooo close...

Leaving for NYC tomorrow to visit hubby at his conference. We really want to see Billy Elliott while we're there. I've got to look into tickets.

G, good job cleaning the garage! One of these days, I'll get around to mine. Maybe after I attack the closets...

Have a great week everyone!

Once I'm back from vacation in April and done with tradeshow travel, I was planning on coming down and seeing you, DH & Alicia -- maybe I could try one out then?

And G - it think you started a good tradition!

My friends are joking that they're going to hold a puppy and a cupcake at the finish line so I'll cross it! ha!

I'm nuking my challenge for this month except for exercise. I should know better - March is always a busy month and next to impossible to control.

On another note, I found another stray dog! First one of 2010 :-) I will blog shortly about this latest canine adventure.

Whoo-hoo, Little G! emoticon And Big G, too!

It's going to be a party in Solvang next year! We'll have to book rooms early. J.C. and I ended up spending the night in Montecito and driving the rest of the way Saturday morning.

Twist, you can borrow my old mountain-style bike if you want, but we should try and find you a road bike...

Hey gals, speed is gravy, but the comfort of my new geometry is what will get the 100 done in Tahoe.

Solvang 2011 is possible, might do that for my 52nd birthday bash...but would in that case need to include my partner DH, and his brother. They both have been on a kick for Solvang. (Twist can vouch for DH, and I can vouch that bro is one crazy bike dude).

Getting excited for the big race day Miss Twist?

Way to go for G's daughter!

Saturday during our 12m run there were a lot of 5k shamrock-y people running their run through ours - one of our water station folks was feeling very guilty trying to explain that the gatorade wasn't for them but for team in training!

Don't worry about speed, Alicia! I'll be behind you on my $80 huffy ha! ha!

Solvang half century ride in 2011 - let's do it 3/12/2011!! I looked online and next year is Solvang's centennial, which should make it doubly awesome!

yes??

Saturday I did a parade walk with my daughter for her school
Sunday ran the shamrock 5K with my daughter (her first) and we finished in 32:43 and she did it without stopping.

I ride a Specialized Sequoia Comp, which is perfect for me, built for comfort not for speed. I love the fit and ergonomics of my bike and can't imagine trading that in just to go a bit faster. It's great for the kind of riding I do, down to the beach cities for breakfast or around the hill for a weekend joy ride. On the longer rides, I just take my time and enjoy the scenery!

LOL Alicia, I'm afraid the new roadie might be too fast for me! I love a great comfort bike. How did it do on your 50?
I'm thinking my bike problem has more to do with my joints than the bike's. So hopefully I will be able to ride longer and further with this new one. Otherwise I've gotten the world's most expensive garage ornament, as I LOVE my current hybrid.
Counting down, 1 day to streak lift-off for Century.

Whoo-hoo! Laurie, that new bike looks slick! Way too fast for me and my "comfort" bike...

emoticon Everyone, back from Florida, wonderful time (even though I had a head cold...blast! and sunny Florida was pouring the last 3 days with tornado warnings). Hope to get a ride in today to warm up my muscles and get my seat toughened up again. Stuffed from vacation food, will start a new streak on Tues. Have an annual birthday lunch with co-worker on Monday and don't want to worry about it. Today DH and I will go back to eating light and back on the no-booze train until June.

Alicia emoticon , that's an awesome accomplishment!!!! emoticon

Twist, it would be great to do Solvang! The half anyway. The century does have more hills - which is why DH and I are doing Tahoe first. After that 100, I'll see how I feel about Solvang. Did I tell you all that I bought a new bike just before vacation? My hybrid, though I love and adore it, just puts too much strain on my back and forearms for 100 miles. I think 50 is its limit for one day. I'll be getting the new bike next week. Got measured at my bike shop and this one will fit me best and have the components to make shifting easier on me. My first road bike! It's a Scott Pro. Here's a photo. I feel sick with the $$$, but we are determined to ride the 100, so good bike it is. We feel it's an investment in health since we really love riding.

Twist, that would be awesome! A girls-only ride!

Had a great time even if I wasn't feeling 100% and the wind was pretty brutal! Aside from a 7-mile loop through residential areas of Lompoc, the ride is very scenic. And I didn't think the hills were that bad. I've heard the elevation gains on the century are rough!

I'm back from the trade show and continued to work 12+ hours daily (and 18 hour days at the show). I'm tired, off my food mark and way low in my challenge... boo.

BUT! I showed up for my second to last long run this season and ran 12.3 miles.

Alicia, I can't wait to hear about Solvang! Maybe I should plan to do that with you and Laurie next time... that'd be fun!

Indeed we are.
Yesterday, went for a walk, not certain of the distance, but it was 30 minutes. Got caught in a little rain.
Took my daughter out for a run and we got caught in hail 10 minutes out and had to end the run.

Saturday I ran(ish) 20 miles! last big run before marathon day. Last mile nearly killed me...

G -- I just saw your blog note, all this time we've been neighbours! Go figure!

Okay I forgot what month it was so here is a recap of last week.

Ran 3 times, easy 5K distance (paced my daughter two of the 3).

This week, I am back on the 10K training after a twisted ankle screwed me up. Which means my plan is to run 4 times a week except for race weeks which there are two.

I have a 5K this coming sunday which will be my daughter's first. I have a 5K the following Saturday which is a trail run in Mount Diablo (I refuse to call it Mount Reagan when he never set foot there).
The rest of the weeks will be business as usual.

Ok kids - forget in like a lion out like a lamb for March - let's be lions the whole way! emoticon
ok, I know it doesn't look much like a lion, but sp isn't giving much to work with in the animal kingdom emoticon realm!!

Here's a place for your daily goals for March.
Make it as easy or as challenging as you'd like, be consistent and let's go forward towards our goals together.

Who's in?
