Hi - I'm glad you're doing well and fully recovered.
Hey, enjoy your vacation and don't stress out too much about work.

Let's get back in May and see how we can do.

Hey Ron! Thanks & I am fully recovered (and have been since tuesday - woohoo!)

I managed another couple of miles the day before the marathon so my march total was 13. Talk about flimsy.

I leave on vacation in 4 days and work has been grinding me like crazy - I have yet to do anything with the dogs since the marathon. How sucky is that.

I will be out of the country for most of April, so I won't be able to participate in the challenge with you - but I'll make a date to come back to it in May if you're so inclined?

Congratulations Twist on your marathon success! Hopefully you're feeling recovered.

I haven't posted for a while, but I have kept track of our walks. Chloe and I walked 10.75 miles in the 8 days since I last posted. We've been fairly active this month and had a good time.
This morning was a blast because we had 6 inches of snow to play in. Chloe loves the snow!

So, March Final Total: 47 miles

April total to date: 1.5 miles

This week has been tapering mode in preparation for the marathon... and in addition to not supposedly doing much exercise-wise, I've been working 12+ hours a day. I've hardly even had time to stretch!

This sucks. I feel like I've both you and my dogs down this month in the challenge. I'm really sorry.

Hopefully I'll pop in a few more miles between now and next wednesday... but who knows at this point. :(

I've come to the conclusion that training for an endurance event and walking dogs can be tricky.

This week we're tapering our activity which means I'm not supposed to do much of anything, but I still managed a 2 mile walk yesterday. Ginger sure was tired by the end of it. I think I'm going to have to do some time with her (and the rest of the group) and then put her in the house and continue with the others.

Thanks for the nice comment about the dog rescue thing :-)

You, on the other hand, are doing great with the challenge!

I'm not keeping up too well with posts, but I am keeping track - we're on pace for a very good month in mileage. I've had problems getting up to exercise, but I still make time to go walking / jogging with Chloe and that has kept me from gaining weight, so another reason to be glad I have such a good friend. We have walked 6.75 miles more in the 4 days since I last reported with 2.75 being on Saturday.

You've certainly been very busy, but you still find time to rescue a stray. You are a good person - thanks for caring so much for our 4-legged furry friends. :)

We walked just 1 mile today, but Chloe had a blast at the dog park for almost 2 hours. She is sure tired tonight!

Yesterday was another rushed day but we got in 1 mile between work and meetings. I'm still hopeful that my evenings and weekends will be better time-wise for the next few weeks before I leave on vacation.

Well I managed all of whopping .75 mile until I found a stray dog at a busy intersection... it's like deja vu! except this time it wasn't a pitbull but some little terrier-chihuahua looking thing... :-) I'll add a photo in a blog. For now we're off to see if the dog with a harness that says "yuppy puppy" has a microchip.

Yes, I am the dog whisperette!

Since Wed. I've been out for regular 1 and 2 mile walks for a total of 7.5 miles (1.5 on Thur/Fri. and 2.25 on Sat. and Sun.)
It's not so sunny here - Chloe and I went walking in the snow yesterday and this morning. It's nicer tonight, but cold (about 38 F). California is sounding nicer every day.

Got out with the 3 kids today -- it's sunny and warm and nary a cloud in the sky! And yet, people still ask why I moved to California... :-)

We did a 2.1 mile loop - a bit of a leasurely pace but Ginger was able to keep up just fine that way!

Ron, I think my company is trying to kill me with work! You know things are bad when a short day is 12 hours...

That said, I got back in town late Tuesday and I walked the dogs Thursday for a mile (woo.)

The good news is I finished my tasks and handed them off to the next team, so I'm absolutely hoping that some sense of normalcy will resume in my life and I'll still give you a run in this challenge! (I'm not sure when I became such an optimist.... :-D)

We're getting pretty consistent at walking that 1.5 miles per day. It seems to work out, but I know Chloe would like to do more (at least on one of our 3 walks). So, 3 miles for the last 2 days.

Ok, let's see... Saturday I walked the dogs for .25 mile after running 20 miles and before getting on a plane for work.

And if memory serves me right, I walked the dogs for a mile Thursday (I'm pretty sure it was Thursday seeing as Tuesday and Wednesday I worked close to 13 hours each day)...

And I've been out of town since. *sigh* Thankfully I'll be home Tuesday.

I'm not doing well at reporting here, but I have been keeping track.
On Wed. and Friday we walked just 1 mile. On Thursday we did 1.5 miles. Today we did 3.5 miles total.
So I think that makes 7 miles more since I last reported in. It's getting nicer out and easier to get out for walks. We started a new thing this week. I take her out before work for a quick 1/2 mile walk. That gives us a head start on the day. Chloe is loving it.

Hey, the weather was really wet last month for you. It's hard to get out in the rain. It takes twice as long as usual because of drying off the wet dogs! :(

I would like to keep going in March. I'm tracking it anyway, so let's do it.
Yesterday we walked 2 miles and today 1.5.

I just thought about it and if I average 30 miles per month just walking with my dog, that's 360 miles per year and I know I'll do more than that. I may have to replace my shoes a little more often :)

Well, she's run more than that before... I think her max running was 9.5 miles. Her max walking was 13 miles.

Anyway - I didn't log any additional miles, unfortunately, on Sunday given that I spent my day making two sheet cakes for work and then having dinner guests. Fun, but tiring.

So between a couple of lazy days, one day of not taking big dog on a long run, a few big rain days, I missed the mark on the challenge - boo on me!

Shall we do it again for March?

Your dog ran with you for 6 miles? Wow! I'm impressed by you AND your dog. Good job. I still can't run even a full block. I can hike 25 miles a day, but running ... :(

Chloe and I made it out a couple of times today for a total of 1.5 miles.

And we're being the antithesis of consistent :-)

Last night was like a monsoon outside so we skipped our outing. Tonight we headed out for a 2.1 mile walk. Ginger was pretty tired by the time we were almost home, but I didn't have to carry her!

Then I went out with the big girl for a 1.1 mile run. Did it in 12 minutes - woohoo!

I swear I'm still in the challenge! work has been crazy... Yesterday I took the dogs out for 1.1 miles, and of course it poured the whole time so we looked like four wet rags when we got in. Today I took the 3dogs for the same 1.1 mile loop and then took big dog out for a quick mile run

Chloe didn't want to play much when we went to the park. She would chase the ball or frisbee, but then just sit there instead of bringing it back. Humm... that's not the usual. She must be feeling sick still. We are getting in our normal walk each night, so that's good. We did a little extra on Saturday, so since the last time I report in we walked 4.75 miles.

I totally understand about the sleep thing. I have to spend 9 hours in bed to get 6-7 hours of sleep and that doesn't seem like enough.
I've been pretty consistent with our walks. We did 1/2 mile last night and 1.5 miles tonight. Not very long walks, but at least consistent.

I don't know what's up with me & sleep these days... it's like 8-9 hours still isn't enough!

Anyway - the last 2 nights were subverted away from the dogs with unexpected after-work events. Tonight is tax night but I'm hoping to be done early enough to take the kids out and catch up!

Short walk tonight 0.5 - Chloe and I are both beat. She's tired because she played at the dog park for 2 hours. I'm too tired because of a heavy workout today and not enough sleep. emoticon

OK, it's on!
Tonight, Chloe and I walked/ran for 1.5 miles. I actually got her tired with a walk because we ran a lot of it. I have a hard time with running, but it was fun to see her lagging a bit. :)

I'm on board with the minimum. How about 30 miles? That's just over 1 mile per day since we only have 28 days in Feb.
Looks you got a good start.
We made a leisurely 1 mile tonight.

So to make February interesting and spice up our challenge, how about do we not only aim aro who has the highest miles, but also set a minimum number of miles for the month - say 25? 30?

Let me know what you think!

Just went for a 1.6 mile walk - it's such a pretty day out. Finally!

The thing to realize is I don't take the big girl on all my long runs with me so that's why it wasn't increasing in leaps and bounds - that and the fact that it poured non stop for half the month and I could hardly get them out the door just to pee!! So in actuality, my few big days are probably what kept me from lagging behind you miserably! :-D

OK, so the last 3 days of the month, we walked 3.25 miles total (.5 on Fri., 1.5 Sat. and 1.25 today)

So that means you should get out and walk .3 miles to tie. Of course, you could easily go .4. :)

I never thought we would even come close the way you started out. We never had a real big day, but just regular walks every day. Thanks for pushing us!

Wow - you sure had a lot of rain. We got the same storms, but the kind of split around our valley and just snowed in the mountains with little of anything in the valley. Our mountains got over 5 feet of snow and that's terrific.
Glad you got out with the furry friends.
It's been a couple of days since I posted. We've been doing longer walks lately - a total of 5 miles more.

FINALLY! it stopped raining... and not just for 11 minutes. Took all three kids for a 1.8 mile run/walk. Ginger did really well although she started to poop out on the last block home... that's ok, she's 12 and she ran at least half of almost 2 miles :-)

Went around the neighborhood with Chloe for an energetic 1.5 miles today. It's looking unlikey that we'll get a BIG hike in - hard to do in Utah with all the snow. Either it's snowing or there's avalanche dangers. Sigh ...

Wow - CA has had a LOT of rain! No wonder it's hard to get out. Good luck with that.
Chloe and I had a couple of good long walks - about 2.5 miles each for a total of 5 miles. It was good to get out in some CLEAN air again. Our air is clean again thanks to the small, continuous storms coming in from CA. Sorry it's not so good for you, but it's been nice here. Warm and light rain and NO smog / inversion!

I missed my window of opportunity on Monday between rainshowers, I was busy steamcleaning my rugs (turns out they're white and red *not* grey and dingy burgundy!! :-D)

And yesterday was a mix of nasty rain with big gusts of winds that just made staying in that much better. So no walk, and no run. tsk tsk... I'll have to make amends now with both the dogs and my coach!

It's always nice to have time to spend playing with the dog!

Today I kept having to move the doberman out of the way on my yoga mat -- every time I moved to the end of the mat, she's sit squarely in front of me on the other end - very cute.

I had a 3 day lull in my dog walking (oh the shame!) due to laziness spurred on from working late. Boo on me. Yesterday I took all 3 dogs for a mile walk and then the big dog and I went running for 6.5 miles. Today we did a quick .5 mile between rain showers.

I must be getting what you have. I spent yesterday feeling nauseated and developed a fever. I did a bunch of house cleaning in the first part of the day and by 1 had no energy left and didn't walk the dogs. Saturday was a 12 mile run starting at 7 a.m. so again, once I got home I was beat. Repeat for Friday.

The dogs are pissed. Moping around like Chloe but for different reasons. Hopefully by this evening things are better and we at least make it around the block!

I was wondering where you'd headed off to. I can tell you're under the weather by the tone of your post. Don't worry about being further behind - I spent the last 5 months lagging behind you! And besides, knowing you, you'll go out on some super mondo snow hike with the dog for 6 hours and catch up in no time!! If it makes you feel better, big dog only goes running on the long run every other saturday :-D

Did another mile with the kids last night.

OK so I've been a bit sick lately and haven't recorded anything, but despite feeling crummy, I still take my Chloe out for a little while. So, it's been 4 days and we did .5 for 2 days and 1.5 on 1 day and 1 on the other. So that makes 3.5 more since I last posted.
Sigh... falling behind here.

Did a quick .75 miles with THREE dogs yesterday. I haven't only walked 3 dogs since... early December? I can't even remember. Cousin Billy left yesterday to go live in the countryside with his daddy. I miss him & so does Gorgeous. She was moping around all night, draped over the couch in her most forlorn look... poor thing doesn't understand why her new best friend left.

Now I have to go across the street and get the pitbull to visit so she doesn't get bored. Kids. :-)

Sunday I got sucked into the couch (but not before I did my requisite yoga!) I did brush the dogs teeth and trim their nails, does that count?? :-)

Anyway, Monday was .6 miles, today should be a group outing plus a short run with the big girl.
Tomorrow is Billy's last day with us. I'm sure going to miss him! There's nothing cooler than a dog that says v v v ooooo o v v v (swear I'm not making it up, he can't pronounce the letter f because of his underbite, so it's all vvvvvv's - cracks me up everytime!)
