I use the mileage tracker. I walk really slow (30 minutes per mile) so I have to calculate mine that way. It's good, though, because it adds to your fitness minutes and calories burned,

it's not like it is really different .. you can still log your mile or more per day... just log it in the Fitness Tracker instead of just a checkbox.

the goal would be set up for 3 miles a week ... but if you wanted to walk a mile each day of the week .. that's just 4 extra miles towards the goal. no harm no foul...

and instead of just a checkbox you'd actually get accumulation numbers like total miles walked and calories burned. which can be useful info.

i forget which thread i wrote it on.. but yes typically 20 minutes works out to a mile. in the fitness tracker it says 3.15mph (20 minutes per mile) .. so even if you don't specifically know your mph you can pick the one that says 20 min per mile and enter how many minutes you walked or ran.

I happen to like getting in 1 mile a day but suppose that if everyone wishes to do miles differently, than alright. I also think that adding a points goal is a terrific idea-I learn so much just by checking out new info, games and reading others' blogs! I agree with idea that some would skip over an inactive team--I've done it, too..
I have learned/heard in the past, Lucinda, that every 20minutes counts as a mile..Anyone differ?

I can see doing the spark points on the wheel because I do that everyday. I don't track my walking by miles just by minutes I was out. It would be a great way to start the new year. Lucinda

I will do my best to meet and surpass my goal. Never stop learning or trying to achieve success. Never give up keep plugging away. If it is to be it's up to me. .

I would give the Spark points goal a go. I do collect Spark points each day I go on and do read each email and huddle and such. I manage to collect quite a few points each day and it really is a great way to get alot of info from the site. I say, let's do it.

I like the idea of starting new goals in Jan. I think it would be a good start to the new year.

As far as the walking/running each week...Either way is fine with me. Honestly I kind of like it the way it is now, but if not everyone does, then by all means change it to a weekly goal instead of daily. I can understand if u do get busy and can't make that mile everyday but can do it every other day or so it would be easier for u to track...

I think the going "rate" for each team is to join atleast one goal, so please, team join atleast one goal and try to stick with it.

Remember to track your goal progress daily under "other goals"---I do it daily because it's easier for me to remember. You can go back and do it on Sat. for the week and that's ok but no later than Sat. unless u arrow back to the previous week. But, it's easy to do and is great for team morale and earning points for our team! It looks great for other people who are looking for a team to join that caters to bipolar when they see how we keep up with our goals and not to mention all the activity. I know from personal experience that if I see an inactive team, I'm likely to pass it by. Done it before. Active teams are very appealing to others who may be suffering from BP...

So, that's my opinion on the goals....

Let us know what u think!

I set up a Team Goal. I saw this on another team and liked it a lot. It's easy: get 34 or more points per day. Since the wheel doesn't always cooperate, it "forces" you to use the nutrition tracker and fitness tracker and read articles, huddle in teams, click on SparkPeople email, take quizzes, etc .. which betters proficiency with the site plus makes each person healthier. It counts the WHOLE team regardless if they're active chatting in our topics or not. It works out to about 34 points per day per person. That is totally easily achievable.

========================================

Current goal switch, yes/no? It doesn't look like many of us are walking 1 mile or more each day... what do you think about changing it to Walk/Run 3 miles per week? That puts the goal within reach for those of us new to exercising. It'd be tracked via your Fitness Tracker and automatically count towards our team goal. You wouldn't have to have more check-boxes in your Other Goals area. And you wouldn't have to remember to specifically go mark the box.

If you want this change please comment whether you prefer to swap it out immediately or change it in January. Thanks!

How do you all feel about the other goals? We can switch them up in January as a "new year, new you, new goals" thing... what would you be willing to strive for?

Also, If you want to opt out of any goal or join a Team Goal you may do so on our team's main page near the bottom... or on "Other Goals" click the Add/Remove Team Goals and I think it brings you to our main page.
