WoW! I am so in need of more yoga .. I have allowed myself to get very tight again! One thing that has helped my lifestyle journey is to say NO to sweets. Boy, do people get irritated with me. I allow myself only so much a day ( if any and am very strict about what I will eat. I don't put it in my mouth if it doesn't look delish ! LOL

I enjoyed an extended stay in Brazil, but this morning I'm off to Thailand!

The biggest thing that helps me on my life-changing journey is tracking everything I eat. It's the only thing that keeps me from overeating and gaining the weight back!

I did child's pose, warrior pose, and down-ward facing dog.

Now I'm off to ride an elephant!

sorry guys i wasn't on this today. Had alot on my plate today. I had to take care of six kids. Then clean my house. Afterwords walked down to the park and let the kids play in some water. Came home cooked lunch, foulded a load of laundry, did the dished, and cleaned they yard. Ugh gonna sleep so good tonight

Hi, everyone. I visited Thailand today. Did you get to the palace in Bangkok to see the very large jade Buddha? I had to remove my shoes and then sit when I got inside the temple.


I have found that I need to limit sugar grams to no more than 25 grams a day and up my fiber to a minimum of 24 grams per day in order to lose weight. I use fiber bars and pop corn to help get the fiber I need. I eat some beans but they do cause me to have gas if I get too many. Since limiting sugar is hard for me, I do allow myself to have more than 25 grams about once a month. Otherwise sweets to not live at my house.

I did my yoga poses but I don't know all the pose names.

Challenge ends tomorrow at midnight. Let's get those passports stamped!

I decided to head to Brazil today.
I read Dinner on Demand: 10 Key Foods You Need in Your Pantry.
It reminded me of the yumminess of roasted chickpeas.
I plan to try the quinoa and black bean salad that was mentioned in the article.
I must say that I am not converted to the idea of using canned veggies. I do use canned beans but otherwise I prefer fresh or frozen.
Today I plan to grill dinner and eat outside.

Spent my day in Greece! What a wonderful place to end my travels. Back home tomorrow first flight out. I managed to drink 80 ounces of water with all the walking that I did visiting this great place. Sent goodies.

My destination for today was Thailand. Very nice place to visit.

The two things that help me the most with my lifestyle change are tracking all my food/water and exercise. I have done this from day one, last August, when I joined Spark. Also, I still weigh/measure all my food to determine if my portions are correct. I have tried eyeballing a few things but find I always make the portions bigger than they should be when I do this. I also make sure I drink at least 8 glasses of unsweetened liquids a day, mostly water but I also like hot green tea.

The yoga poses I tried were Mountain pose, Tree pose, and Standing Forward Bend. I did a 6 minute Spark video called Focusing Yoga.

I read 10 top reasons to lose 10.

Interesting article... Lower blood pressure, less likely to develop diabetes, better breathing, healthier gall bladder. Better sleep..., are a few of the positives. No to break this plateau & move on down 10.

My outside time was spent chair marching at the park on a bench while watching the grandkids play.

Right off the bat, I've learned something new!

"When you started a regular exercise program, whether to lose weight or improve your overall health, your enthusiasm and motivation were high. Even though exercise wasn't the most exciting activity you had experienced, you began feeling better and seeing results from your hard work. You managed to get yourself out of bed early, to squeeze in a little gym time each day, and stick to your plan without much effort.

But then slowly, the novelty began to wear off. You started finding reasons to sleep in and found "better" things to do with your time. Then before you realized it, you had missed a whole week and your drive to continue was missing in action. Is this common scenario just another motivation issue? Probably not."

I always thought this was a motivation problem with ME! It never dawned on me that I was just getting bored! lol

It reaffirms my belief that mixing it up is the key to success, and longevity. I've always known that the body gets used to the routine, and hence burns less calories. I'm sure we've all experienced that. I'm always trying to mix it up, to surprise my body. I'll do a Walk At Home video for a few days, then throw in some elliptical time, maybe hop on a treadmill, or do a Coach Nicole video. Variety is the spice of life! Being in recovery for my PF, everything feels new to me and my body is responding GREAT!

Time to head to a cookout soon...OUTSIDE! What better place than in the rain forests of Brazil!!! lol

Hoping to make it to Costa Rica today! I have a "belligerent B's brunch" today, which usually blows my calories out of the water, so I'm going to try to see the available menu and plan accordingly beforehand! Will def be alternating my drinks with water...think I'm going to use my super secret move, where I bring some Mio to the bar, mix it in just plain water, and nobody is any the wiser and offers to keep muybing drinks beause they think I'm good to go.Leaving out to get at least 15 minutes of walking in before we go.Will update later tonight!

I have owned a Fitbit since this company started. I wear it everyday. My goal is to hit a consistent 12-14K average each week. I am tracking my steps and upping my steps each week by 500 steps. I hope to be at that 12K mark by the end of this Summer BLC challenge emoticon

I'm in Brazil today.

I read: "10 Bizarre Things Your Body Does While You Sleep"

I never thought about my kidneys slowing down when I sleep. Apparently it accounts for more concentrated urine in the morning.
I also had never heard of anyone hearing a loud bang as they're drifting off to sleep, but then again, I'm not over 50....yet.
I did have an inkling of muscles and bones regenerating while I sleep - one reason it's so important to get good sleep when I've been working out.


I enjoyed a long walk outside today while listening to a session from a women's conference.

I am traveling to Brazil today.

The article I read is "50 Non-Food Rewards for Fitness and Weight Loss."

Losing weight and maintaining healthy habits is hard work so the article suggests rewarding oneself at certain milestones along the way. To do this one needs a system. The author gives herself stars for completing certain tasks and when she reaches 100 starts, she gets a reward.

The article goes on to list possible milestones and then 50 different possible rewards. Some of these do cost money but others are free. They range from giving yourself permission to take a nap to having a massage to rescuing a dog to have a walking buddy.

I will be outside working in my garden today as it is a lovely day for that.

I read article "10 PANTRY STAPLES YOU SHOULD NEVER BE WITHOUT"

It is an accurate and informative piece that I already knew and have stocked with the following exceptions

1, Chickpeas/Garbanzo Beans -- YUCK! Instead I have an assortment of beans: pinto, great northern white/navy beans, black beans.

2. Avocado Oil -- YUCK again! Instead I have an assortment of health conscious oils: Coconut Oil, Grape Seed Oil and Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

I think this article is worth reading and heeding!

I went outside and did my potted gardening early before the temp rose.

I thought we was using one post for this challenge but I see a new post for each country visit got it.

Brazil
1. Read a SparkPeople article. List 3 things you learned or reaffirmed from reading the article on this thread. Why Strength training is for everyone: I learned 1-strength training improve your daily activities, 2-reduce blood pressure, 3-increase calories burn.

2. Spend some time outside doing something you enjoy. clean the lawn furnitures not that I enjoy cleaning but I will enjoy sitting outside with the family so it make it enjoyable getting the yard a prepared.

Did my 3 yoga poses.

To help my lifestyle change I started to exercise. I walk 3 to 5 miles at least 6 days a week and do strength training 2 to 3 times a week (at least 15 min) Last month I started cycling my calories so I eat a different amount everyday It helped me break my plateau.

CHALLENGE #1
Read a spark article and list 3 things I learned emoticon

I read the article "10 bizarre things your body does while sleeping
1. The kidneys which filter toxins from your bloodstream slows so you don't produce as much urine.
2. Human Growth Hormone hgH which helps your body regenerate I'd released during sleep, especially during deep sleep.
3. During our REM stages of sleep the muscles in our arms and legs are temporarily paralyzed.

CHALLENGE#2
Spend time outside doing something I enjoy. emoticon

I went outside early in the morning with the dogs for a walk around the path on our property. There was a family of ducks with 7 new little babies swimming with them.

Woke up in Thailand this morning! I started journaling (with pen and paper) everything several months ago and that's really helped with keeping my focus.

Got in a little morning yoga stretches. A little sun salutation, some downward dog and comfortable cobra, transitioning (not so fluidly lol) into warrior 1, 2 and 3. Feeling ready for my day!

One thing that has helped me is planning to have the same breakfast and lunch at least 90 percent of the time. This makes planning and tracking easy.
