If I'm So Smart, Why Can't I Lose Weight by Brooke Castillo

I have found this book tremendously helpful in terms of re-framing the weight loss journey.
One must track food, but one relates much more to emotions that calories. Things I liked
- How Full / Empty Am I? Reconnecting body and mind
- Exercise is a gift to ourselves (in fact the whole weight loss journey is that)
- Leaning in to the emotions that arise, not running from them
- Finding the underlying beliefs that lead to those emotions, and correcting them if needed
And I'm still reading. It has been very helpful for me.

I see that this has gone quiet for a bit. Just wanted to put two cents worth in for The Big Short by Michael Lewis. If you are interested in how the current financial situation in the USA came about, this is the book for you. It takes a complex subject and explains it very clearly.

If it's not hunger, food won't fix it.

i love reading mysteries. Mary Higgins Clark and Carol Higgins Clark are two of my favourite. J.D. Robb is another. She's more crime related. Eve Dallas is her main character.

Having a hard time getting into it but I am still in the first chapter.

I finished The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows. It was truly a gripping account of the German occupation of the British Guernsey Islands. It is a sometimes funny, sometimes sad and memorable story of the island during this occupation.

The character and plot development is done through a series of letters.

Excellent reading.

Just started Midnight Train to Memphis by Elizabeth Peters. I have read quite a few of her books, mysteries which are not my usual cup of tea but I like that she sets them in Egypt.

In the past week, I've read The Biggest Loser Book, The Biggest Loser Cookbook, and The Biggest Loser Fitness book. I want to buy and read The Biggest Loser Secrets to Success, The Biggest Loser 30 Day Jump Start, The Biggest Loser Calorie Counter and maybe even The Biggest Loser Family Cookbook.

I've totally adopted their philosophy of eating more natural foods rather than processed foods and every recipe I've tried from their cookbook has been fantastic.

I've never even watched the show.

I'm reading... some Harlequin presents book, oh The Australian's Housekeeper Bride by Lindsay Armstrong, and Fallen by Claire Delacroix.

For recommendations, I don't normally like chick lit books, but I really enjoyed How Nancy Drew Saved My Life by Lauren Baratz-Logsted.

MONICAE I love Jeffrey Deaver or Kathy Reichs. Have you read Deaver new one about idenity thift. Really scary. Plus he keeps you guessing right up to the end as to who did it.

I love mysteries and Sci fi. Right now I am enjoying a series.Called Temeraire. By Naomi Novik. It takes place during the napoleon wars, but in a different reality. One where there are dragons. It is really cool and I love dragons. Collect them, read books about them.

I love mysteries. Am currently reading one by John Brady but would also recommend anything by Ian Rankin, Peter Robinson, Jeffrey Deaver or Kathy Reichs. If you want to try some Canadian authors that are less well known than Peter Robinson, I also like Giles Blunt, Barbara Fradkin and Louise Penny

Right now I'm reading "The Clouded Leopard" by Wade Davis, an ethnobotanist. It's a fascinating series of essays that revolve around geography and how it shapes the cultures that live in them. He's a fascinating writer, and has a great way of making what could be dry and scientific into something that really pulls you in.

Reading Wicked, the book that inspired the musical.

Love Kathy Reich, I am trying to resist buying her latest in hard cover. Trying to wait for the paperback version.

Seems as though you like mysteries/ polilce prcedural type reads as well :)

Another Canadian author i have read and liked is Rick Mofina... i read his first three books, and one of them ( afraid I can't recall at the minute which one) has places in Ottawa metioned in the story. I recall it mentioning Dows Lake and a few streets in the downtown area. Though most of the story does take place in San Fransico.

I am reading Bleeding heart by Susan Wittig Albert. Female detective mystery. Main character owns a herb store and there are recipes and tips about herbs throughout the books.
