I started this challenge on 6/2/17 at 235 lbs ended on 9/30/17 at 204 lbs weight loss equals 31 lbs. Am I through losing weight? No way. I still have a ways to go. I am very happy with my loss so far.

Very happy that after nearly 3 weeks away I came back up 3 pounds, but after tracking for 2 days some water weight came off for a net gain of only 1 pound! That's a success in my book! So for this challenge I am officially 11 pounds down in 3 months. Not a lot of weight for that amount of time, but it's going in the right direction. Looking forward to the fall challenge!

Been on vacation since early Sept. 19, so haven't weighed since before then. Feeling the urge to step on a scale, but know that it's not the same as my scale so regardless of the weight, it wouldn't be consistent. Will get back at the scale when we're home later this week and will use that as my final entry for this summer's challenge.

I haven't posted for awhile from the looks of it. I have a new scale, and kept forgetting I had it so wasn't weighing in. I finally weighed in today and looks like I may have gone up a bit. I'm back to teaching line dance so I'm hoping that will help the weight go back down along with watching what I eat, which is not always easy but I keep trying.

Happy Thursday. This has been a good week as I have stuck to my weeks plan and stayed within my calorie count and as of today I am back down to my lowest!!! I go see my Dr. on the 3rd and I would love to have 2 or 3 more off. She is going to be surprised as she has not seen me for a year.

Using someone else's scale and weighing with clothes this morning it showed 194 - so I took a pound off for clothes (yes?) and decided I was still 193. Had some good sweaty exercise after that and I think my pants are slightly looser, so I'm feeling good. Next week will probably be a different story, but I'll keep on keeping on. I am just posting for my weigh in on 9/9/17. I was down 2 lbs. That makes up for no change on 9/2/17. My weight this week was 208 lbs. I am so excited to be getting close to 200 lbs. I have not been at or below 200 lbs in years. I am not even sure how many years it has been, but it has been a very long time. Thanks SparkPeople for helping me reach my goal. I am still a long way from my goal weight of 150 lbs, but I am a lot closer at 208 lbs than I was at 255 lbs. Keep moving forward fellow Sparkers.

I've had bad gastro problems the past 4 days so I've been eating very little of an extremely limited diet, so that's resulted in 2 pounds down in the last week. I won't be near my home scale for the next couple of weeks so I'm trying to see if I can dig up a scale where I am and get a base reading so I can use that to track. Once my stomach is settled there will be a lot of wine drinking and eating so I want to be able to keep track as part of my strategy for not going completely off the rails. I also have to figure out what I'm going to do about exercise. Wish me luck!

Oh the smoke here is so bad. We were told today that tomorrow the principal will be notified every hr what the air quality is and if the kids can go outside or not. The fires are not getting better and some places are getting some rain but along with that rain is lightening! My daughter that lives across the river in the Gorge is on notice to evacuate as the fire has jumped the river.
Please pray for rain and fresh air, This smoke is really getting to all of us. Not healthy at all.

I forgot to post on Saturday, 9/2/17. Weight was the same as the week before 210 lbs, at least there was no weight gain. Maybe next Saturday will be at least a 2 lb loss. We will see. Either way, I am not upset. I am still eating right 90% of the time. Ok, 10% of the time could use an improvement, but I haven't denied myself any food, just changed portion size and the amount of sweets and bread that I use to eat. Oh, yeah, and NO sodas since 6/2/17. I thought I would miss them more, but now I don't even miss them at all. Keep moving forward my fellow Sparkers.

I live in central Iowa and we had the yellowish haze from forest fire smoke most of yesterday! Very strange until we figured out it wasn't due to hail coming. No smoke smell was key. Yesterday was a tiring kind of day, but no idea why. I fell asleep in the afternoon and then again after supper. DH made supper -- baked chicken, hashbrowns and peach cobbler -- and I was so full afterwards. Lazing around, eating too much, what else should I expect? Ah, so glad this week is only 4 work days :)

Della I know what you mean about the smoke. I live in Central OR. I can see Mt Jefferson from my back yard. Right now the smoke is so thick I can't even see the sun let alone the mountains. We don't get a lot of rain here, but sure are hoping for some, at least in the mountain area on this side.

I live in a valley and we are socked in with smoke! There are so many fires and so much smoke. We can not see the foot hills nor the sun and it is hot! Many people wearing mask if they go out. Looking forward to a nice fall rain. Wish it would get here!

I finally got a new scale. Seems I went up a few lbs. I'm hoping that's in muscle, but I'll find out soon enough. Need keep trying and hope it goes down more.

That's great, congratulations! I know what you mean about your stomach though, mine is still really big and is very, very gradually getting smaller. Incrementally. But we'll get there!

I'm barely, barely back at 195, but I'm counting it this week. It was a difficult week, everything has just felt like a struggle and I'm really fatigued again so I didn't exercise this morning like I was supposed to.

BUT, this is 40 pounds down and I'm taking it as official. It's really dragging, this weight loss. I feel like I'm averaging about 2 pounds a month at this point and it's really disappointing, going up a few pounds every couple of weeks then having to get that back down plus more so that there is a net loss. I know that still averages out to half a pound a week, but... I guess I'm just tired and a bit moody. Oh well. Next week I'm on vacation so that will put me in a better mood!

I had a NSV this morning--- I went clothes shopping for school and I got one 1X top and 5 L.!!!!! I could not believe that L fit just fine. I will be able to sort out several tops in my closet as most of them are 3X or 2X!!! I am looking forward to M. now lol I wish my stomach and legs would thin down. From the waist down I still don't look good. Here's to the next challenge!

Della - nothing beats farm fresh local produce. Veggies and fruit smell and taste like veggies from when I grew up.... and I love fresh sweet corn... edible raw but I boil for a minute so it's still crunchy. Enjoy your bounty!

This weekend we went out to a local farm and got several fresh veggies, green beans,tomatoes, watermelon, and peaches. Just got down cutting up a couple of peaches to have with lunch today. I tasted one slice and they are so sweet no need of anything else on them. Oh yes also got a couple ears of corn. Oh so sweet and good. I love this time of the year!!

Hi everyone. Those who have been on the challenge for some time know me but I see that there are many new participants on the thread - GREAT! I did go back to skim through many of the posts but I have to confess that it`s been close to 2 months since I posted (early July) It`s been a rather unusual summer for us. My 87 year old MIL was ill , then had a heart attack and surgery the second week of July. The following week they found tumor and other issues and then she passed away the end of July. The illnesses necessitated a couple of out-of- town trips and then of course we were gone for the better part of a week early this month, trying to get the house cleaned out and ready for sale (BIL and SIL and their sons really took on the brunt of that),and having the burial. Our family of course was back and forth a bit too - and there was also a family reunion and memorial service for an uncle of mine. Just after that we helped my mom celebrate her 96th birthday - quite the contrast! Lots of eating out (Chinese x2!!!) and not always much exercise but the weight didn`t vary too much. However it was hard to keep up with the 5% challenge the last while and I`ve had a bit of difficulty regaining my motivation for exercising 6 days a week - but I'm working on it. Life happens and we just have to do the best we can to cope. My weights is only down consistently about a pound although I've had losses up to another pound or so. I didn't hit my goal weight as I'd hoped but as I mentioned before - I`ll get there eventually. It`s nice when the end is in sight.

It was a tough week, with long work days then a big work event where I ate the kind of food I haven't eaten in 6 months! On Saturday when I weighed myself I was SO excited to see 195 but it wasn't weigh-in day yet so I didn't log it. Then after the big event day on Monday, I weighed myself Tuesday morning and I was up 4 pounds!! I literally yelled out loud at the scale. I was so angry to see that line right at 199 again. I couldn't believe it. I knew it would come back off eventually but, man! I was really counting on this being the week I could say 195 - 40 pounds lost. Maybe next week... But at least 3 pounds came back off by this morning. Lots of exercise, and low calorie eating to get that bloat gone.

Still no scale to weigh on. Have been trying to stay as active as possible and watch what I eat. Took the week off from working at the food bank (take calls) due to the solar eclipse. I'm basically in an optimum area to see the full eclipse. Should be able to get the scale by the end of this month or beginning of next I hope.

Health is so important - and there's only so much under our own control, so we have to do what we can for ourselves! Hope everyone has a good week...

My many work night dinners of salad and chicken breast or salmon the last 2 weeks has been keeping the weight going down. Boring but effective. Tonight I'm leaving in time to eat at home so I can have dinner with my family before my son heads back to college tomorrow. Looking forward to my grilled steak and baked french fries!

Great wedding / birthday visit (13 days) with my in laws. Love them all. They were all so supportive and made sure I had foods for my eating plan. Treated myself at dinner following the wedding and the birthday dinner at PF Chang's, but pretty good the rest of the time. Delighted I did not revisit the 240's.

Della so sorry to hear of your losses. Unfortunately (or fortunately) life happens. Don't beat yourself up. You can still honor them by getting the weight off and being healthy. One of my older brothers has pulmonary hypertension where the section of the heart that supplies blood to the lungs is dying. Unfortunately there is no treatment. emoticon

Sorry I have not been on here posting and encouraging all of you.I got word that a Cuz is real bad. They discovered that half of his heart is dead. He is now home just waiting for his time to come as there is nothing he can do. Then yesterday I got word that another Cuz passed away. I so want to get this weight off to help keep me healthier. Of course the last two day I ate with out even knowing I was eating! I pray today will be better and that I will pay more attention with what I am eating.

Not a great week for me. Still have the inner ear dizziness and balance problem. It's really stalled any progress for me. Feeling a little better today and want to get back to my normal way of feeling and exercise, too. But, will have to wait and see. Wishing everyone else the best and hope you are able to stick with your healthy lifestyle and the scales are moving down and not up...

Made a huge weight loss chart to check off each pound i lose. It's been a great motivational visual every time I feel like having a random snack. I have 60 pounds to lose and have 54 to go. Good luck everybody!

Not much time to post, but did wang to check in. Second day of our state fair and today ha Iowa 4-H day. I'll head to a special location for a kind of gathering later this morning - they're hoping for 5,000 4-H alumni and Sivan add one to that!
Not by any scale except one in an exhibit building that's provided by our state ag dept. you step on it and it prints the weight on a card for you. Want and don't want to do that :)
Hope all are doing as they hope. I'll be back as I can.
