Mittzy and Copper did great --ride around 1 1/2 hours! Mittzy meowed at me twice and Copper was a little antsy as they don't normally occupy the back seat together. But settled down quickly! I am a lucky girl !
Now let's see if she will go back into the cage tomorrow. Tonight I will put her harness on her--that should be fun too!
More important than I thought but since the cage door opened by itself as I put her on the counter I think it is a good safety extra! Fingers crossed!

Happy Thursday everyone! Last work day of the week for me and I'm sure some others. Golf this morning and I parred the first hole! Had my low score of the season by far too!
Chris - Hopefully the Powerade will help, I'm sure you'll figure out the right mix.
Kathleen - good luck with the furry ones and the practice car ride! Let us know how it goes.
Hydie - great job getting those miles in! I'm sure you will not fall behind!
Sandi - I did not buy the Atkins book. I just reviewed the web site and printed out the information. I'm sure there is a book, but I figure I can follow it without investing in the book. So far, so good.
Sherri - I agree, I like to get moving after spending the day behind the desk.
PoolMermaid - I sent you a message about the challenge!
Have a great day everyone!

Thank you Kathleen for the suggestion. I had actually thought of that one. I know my son used some last year. The Dr and I did discuss which ones would be best and she said the Powerade would be alright as long as I don't over do how much I drink each day. Basically an 8 ounce glass and can put in ice to water down.

Getting back on track this week with my work-out routine. YES! I always feel SO much better after a good walk on the treadmill and some amazing stretching and toning exercises. After a long day sitting at the computer it really does feel good moving my muscles. :)

I'm hoping the scale will feel the same way emoticon

Let's GO TEAM!!!

Morning everyone!

Today --if it is not pouring again--I will be taking Mittzy emoticon and Copper emoticon on a practice ride for maybe an hour or two to get them used to traveling. Mittzy has been going into her cage for the treats in the dish for her and even in the crate too! (which she refused before) I also have a cat harness for her but I think that will wait until after the ride as I will not have to get out of the car for anything today! And I don't want to upset her before her first ride in the cage! I am hoping she will be calm as Copper is already a pro at riding in the car so she might soothe her too! Wish me luck--I can't wait to head to CT to see my daughters and my grandsons new homes! It will be a 2 day trip with one sleepover!

Have a great day! emoticon

Hi team! I have been having a good time with family and friends visiting from out of town. I really need to stay focused and this team helps me to do just that. My goal is to not fall behind and stay true to this challenge. Today I walked 5.5 miles and kept my calories in range.

Jean so glad to hear things are looking up. Strong lady.
Mizcaw (one of these days I will remember your real name) I wonder if pedialite would be any better with the calories ect. it is the kind for kids, it contains all the electrolytes and so forth. Worth a check! Kathleen, a new day and new month!

Dr was happy with the weight loss I've had so far and encouraged me to keep up with this group and how I'm eating.

She has decided to do some tests next week to make sure there's no underlying problems causing my water gain. She also wants me drinking a glass of powerade for the electrolites in it each day. I can't do the sugar free so I'm limiting how large of a glass I'm drinking and adding ice to help dilute it.

Here we go July! Hard to believe June is over. Hoping for some sunny days in July. I was at the gym with my trainer this morning and I have a group run from the running store this evening - a women's crush run - 4 miles.

Day 2 of the New Atkins Diet - so far so good!

Hope everyone's week is going well so far!

Didn't go the right direction this week but there was a lot going on out of the ordinary. First we had a visitation and funeral for my brother-in-law and then I spent two days traveling to Des Moines for the Lutheran Women's Missionary League convention. And I'm traveling again this weekend, but I can control the food more for this next trip! Have a great week everybody!

WTG Jeanne. Good that you're healing and they finally found the problem. Sometimes Drs should listen more to their patients and forget about their ages.

Today is the first day in several that my feet and ankles haven't swollen to look like small balloons. Instead my hip decided to hurt, felt kind of like it was cramping. Have a Drs. appointment in the morning. Maybe they'll figure out what the problem is and can get it taken care of.

I did get out and took 2 walks so far today, It's been a bit cooler and I'm hoping I can take another one this evening once the weather cools down a bit. Have a walking friend that goes with me as often as she can now.

I appreciate the encouragement from all of you as I navigate recovery for my fractured pelvis. You all are the best! emoticon

The injury likely occurred 16 months (that's right ... over a year) ago and went unrecognized or diagnosed until June 5. March 13 of this year (16 weeks ago) it was apparent that something was wrong because I lost my ability to walk. During my first appointment a pelvic fracture was suspected; but, because the treatment for the pelvic fracture and what we thought was adductor tendinopathy are essentially the same, I refused an x-ray ... silly me! My reasoning was why expose myself to unneeded radiation, if the treatment plan is the same.

Anyway, we know what the issue is now and things are progressing. Had my second appointment with the PT this morning. New exercises assigned and some assigned last week were removed since my pelvis is unable to tolerate them at this time.

As a youngster I had an ankle injury that took a full year to heal. So, I have some familiarity with the drill. emoticon What I didn't have to contend with as a youngster was osteopenia which further complicates the healing process for me this time.

I have certainly found some silver lining in this experience ...
1. Osteopenia has been diagnosed (I suspected it a year ago and requested a bone scan and was denied because of my age ... considered too young) and knowledge is power. It's difficult to address a challenge, when the challenge isn't fully understood. With this knowledge comes more informed decisions regarding recovery.
2. Time usually spent focusing on physical activity has been re-directed to the nutritional front. An awareness of elevated sodium intake came to light and I have been addressing that with some success this past month.
3. Over the past 16 weeks I have learned that I am capable of maintaining my weight even when I cannot move. This is SO POWERFUL for me! It has instilled a greater sense of confidence in my ability to maintain my weight. I knew what I needed to do (cut calories). I did it and it worked. Beautifully!

So, thanks again to all of you!!!

We've got this!

Sorry for the late posting! It's been a crazy weekend and I'm really glad that it's over. Between saying goodbye to a dear friend on my Saturday (which happened to be my birthday) and then trying to celebrate with my family on Sunday and then dealing with family issues, I'm a tad stressed (not to mention that it rained all weekend which is the norm for my birthday). Yup, REALLY glad it's over! Need to get back on track with my routine and my exercising! Up 0.2 pounds but I know that could be anything (water, clothing, etc). I'm not feeling bummed, I'm just feeling more motivated! Under 200 is my goal for this challenge! I look at my starting weight and DAMN! I've done amazing! No stopping now!

Yup, I can do it!

Nancy - ounces add up to lbs, just remember that! Anytime you can get out from behind the desk is a good day!
Wannabe - You are not too late at all. Come play with us. Just highlight the template by putting your cursor on the top left and then clicking n the bottom right and then do control-c to copy. Then do control-v to paste it.

Somehow, I forgot to login to spark yesterday and record my weight. Not what I might have liked, but it's at least in the right direction. Still not doing well with evening snacking. emoticon

Got my walking in today at the beach. Four beaches, actually - I was scheduled to collect water samples from 4 local beaches for water quality testing. So, walk from the parking lot to the water at one end of the beach, walk to the other end of the beach, then back to the car... x4! Distances all vary from beach to beach, but it added up to an hour of walking - not cardio, but not sitting at my computer, either! emoticon And it was (and still is) a beautiful, sunny day!

Wow, that weekend flew by! Saturday was busy and we went to a BBQ at a school friend of John's. It was a beautiful day for a change and we had a lot of fun. Sunday I went to an X-IT class and it was led by my trainer Ellis - I was still sore from my Friday workout but it was a great high intensity class and I knew a couple of people there from previous classes. Then we worked on the deck to finish staining, hung up some lights and got the furniture back on before the rain hit. Today we started the New Atkins Diet together! Need to jump start my weight loss!

Now, sounds like everyone else is plugging along!
El - great job 2 weeks in!
Kathleen - great job on getting the sweets out of the house!
Pam - glad you found us! Happy Anniversary and great job on down 2 lbs!
Sandi - welcome back!
Sherry - glad the scale is back down. We finally had a day and half without rain for a change! Good luck with the interview!
Chris - ouch with the feet! I'm sure that is uncomfortable. Hope things get better!
Jane - great job on down 3 lbs and sounds like quite a ride! Great job on the distance.
JaneAtt - that sodium will get you every time! The weight will come back down.
Stelabela - welcome! Not too late to join at all!
Lin - glad you got the fridge cleaned out. Great job!
Brenaba - lots of sodium in that restaurant food!
GoSpark - hang in there! Today is a new day!
Mom - great job! You had a good week!
Jeanne - hang in there with the therapy. It sounds like a long road, but I know you will get there!
Mickey - great job!
Busybee - great job!

If I missed anyone I apologize! Hope everyone has a great week! Off to Phoenix for a day trip tomorrow for work. Then if I have the energy I have a workout with my trainer on Wednesday morning and if the weather cooperates a 4 mile run on Wednesday evening - women only from the running store!
Spark on!

Couldn't figure out how to change my "signature" on my phone, so didn't get a check-in here yesterday. Down a bit from last week and this work week is short, so fingers crossed that it's a good one for me.

Interviews this week for my supervisor's position. That, plus a monthly teleconference session I arrange and workshops at which I'll co-present at the state 4-H conference all mean there is a great deal on my plate and thank goodness none of it is actual food!

I have begun my 16th week of recovery following the emergence of an injury recently diagnosed as a pelvic fracture. Had my first Physical Therapy appointment this week which went well. Pelvis was "unhappy" for days following my first day of exercises. Took several days for the discomfort to settle back down. Yesterday did some of the exercises (eliminating some) in an attempt to identify which exercises are aggravating symptoms. Been told to expect 6 -12 months of recovery.

I am in maintenance and working to keep the 7-day average of my daily scale weights between 121.25 lbs 128.75 lbs . This range is +/- 3% of my chosen center weight of 125 lbs for a maintenance challenge with the At Goal & Maintaining + Transition to Maintenance team.

I find the accountability of these challenges supportive of my process and I get to interact with so many wonderful people as we learn and grow together working to achieve our goals.

I thought I was down more, but looks like I had too much sodium from yesterday's dinner at Applebee's (not a big surprise). Hopefully, I'll have better results next week. emoticon

Up today. A little surprised as I really had a good week. I did have lots of sodium on Friday and Saturday and although I drank lots of extra water last night it must've not been enough to flush me out. That's ok, tho, I will be extra diligent this week!

Not happy with my weight going back up. I do know a lot of it is water gain. My ankles and feet look like small balloons and I can't get shoes on right now. Have been drinking water which does help some, elevating legs etc. Time to live on salads for awhile, to hot to cook anything. To hot to go out walking even after dark. Trying to walk around inside the house, but feet hurt to move. Will keep working on it.

Wow...my ride today was crazy....Head winds for about 40 miles....light rain for about the first 25 miles....I still managed to keep a decent pace for a 65 mile ride....Total moving time was 4 hours and 47 minutes....needless to say, I was wind burned, sun burned, filthy dirty and starving...Finally back at home so a shower did the trick and I am actually under my calories for the day....Tomorrow is my weigh day, so I will post my results....Have a great night everyone!

Going to an outdoor arts festival today with pretty much zero chance of rain --finally! Hoping for lots of steps, even though they won't all be the really active kind. Any is better than none. And the scale is back down today, too. Hope that repeats itself tomorrow for my weekly weigh-in.
Have a good weekend everyone!
