Well, I'm a little disappointed to still be near the top-end of my range, but I think I need to focus on the fact that I am successfully maintaining within that 3% range - and actually, my wk 9 average is 1lb lower than my wk 1 average.

Today's actual 115.2
Trending 115.1

With August coming to a close, here are my stats as they stand today:

Today's actual 115.2
7-day average 115.31
10-day average 115.08
Weight Grapher 115.06
Hacker's Diet 115.1
August average 114.9

First time I have ever seen a monthly average for the daily scale weights so low. Previous low was 115.3 set in November 2018. These two monthly averages straddle the scream weight line on the low side. So, this month is the first time I've seen a monthly average of the daily scale weights below the scream weight line.

Another item of note this month: the fitbit activity tracker noted only 3 days during the entire month with active minutes recorded and those 3 days accounted for 62 total minutes. In 5 of the past 8 months the average number of days each month with activity minutes recorded is less than 5. So, essentially, the fitbit only picks up activity about once a week. Likely, those activity minutes are associated with weekly trips to a grocery store.

Jeanne, I sure do wish I could pinpoint the difference - I just don't know! It has been this way for YEARS! I was down to 134.4 this morning! That hit my trend for sure! But one thing that I have also noticed is that sometimes on the day I go back to work, it is as if I gain five pounds overnight. I kind of expect that now. I wouldn't be at all surprised if I am closer to 140 on Tuesday morning when I get up. I don't think my sleep is any different....I am much less active at work - often sitting at my desk for ten or more hours a day, sitting in traffic a couple of hours a day...but that doesn't explain the weird weight gain that inevitably happens the very day I return to the office. Last year when my mom was so sick I was getting just a couple of hours a sleep a night and was so busy taking care things for my parents and I lost a bunch all at once...back to work and back the weight came. Weird!

Gloria, What do you think about your vacation experience? Less time pressure? Able to relax? Is sleep any better?

I know, for me, that stressors of various kinds have a significant impact on my health and typically get reflected in the weight. And, the weight can go both ways for me: uncharacteristic weight gain or uncharacteristic weight loss.

During the primary weight loss experience, the only month that saw weight fluctuations of greater than 2.9% was the month my dad died. During that month my weight fluctuated 4.4% and its trend was down.

Over the past couple of days the scale weight and 7-day average have edged above the lower scream weight line. The 10-day average, Weight Grapher and Hacker's Diet trends remain in scream weight territory. So, yes, edging up and over the line ...

Ranges this week from 136.8 to 138.4. Trend is down a tiny bit. I am on vacation this week and for some reason I tend to lose a bit when I am on vacation. That seems atypical of most peoples' experiences. We have dined out a lot and I have exercised less than usual but I almost always see this happen when I am off work. We have indulged in desserts and snacks but I am usually very careful when ordering my meals - lots of grilled fish or baked fish/chicken, roasted veggies. Even though I am not running as much and haven't done as much yoga, I try not to sit around too much. I think that helps. Now, on to the next challenge! :-)

I do believe that I may be gaining some traction with returning some food to my diet. I imagine this must be what it's like for mothers (not an experience I have had) introducing their babies and children to new foods … sometimes you have to take it really slow.

Yesterday, I tested corn. Took a trip to Chipotle for a chicken bowl (no rice, no beans, corn salsa) with a side of corn chips and guacamole. Weight is up 1+ lbs. off yesterday's weight and of no concern as it is not associated with any other inflammation indicators and is well within routine fluctuation.

A couple of weeks ago I had a spoonful of corn at a restaurant and had no indications that it was bothering my body either. I know I need to be really careful with corn because there is family history of intolerance with it and there is so much GMO corn that will likely give me grief. That's why I chose Chipotle … no GMO corn served there.

Don't know whether I shared it here or in a blog years ago; but, GMO tomatoes often have latex in them and I am allergic to latex. So, sometimes foods that give me grief have absolutely nothing to do with the true food and everything to do with growing conditions (herbicides, pesticides, hormones, antibiotics, etc.), genetic modifications, processing, and preparation. One of the reasons I love the organic, heirloom tomato varieties

So, with extreme caution and in very limited amounts and appropriate preparation it seems I may eventually be able to work corn, beans and tomato back into the rotation. My sense is that I may not be able to eat them as a matter of routine.

Fluctuations (for me) remain tight: within 3.0 lbs.

Here is the Weight Grapher graph for the past 31 days. Weight fluctuation pictured here is 2.6 lbs.

Center weight: 57 kg (55.3 - 58.7)

Week 1 : Wed 07/03/2019 - Tue 07/09/2019 - 57.6 kg
Week 2 : Wed 07/10/2019 - Tue 07/16/2019 - 57.1 kg
Week 3 : Wed 07/17/2019 - Tue 07/23/2019 - 57.4 kg
Week 4 : Wed 07/24/2019 - Tue 07/30/2019 - 59.7 kg

Week 6 : Wed 08/07/2019 - Tue 08/13/2019 - 58.6 kg
Week 7 : Wed 08/14/2019 - Tue 08/20/2019 - 59.1 kg
Week 8 : Wed 08/21/2019 - Tue 08/27/2019 - 60.0 kg
Week 9 : Wed 08/28/2019 - Tue 09/03/2019 - 60.0 kg

Conclusion: for the next challenge, I joined with my "old" center weight of 58 kg, and also I returned to tracking all my food on SP nutrition tracker. It has been only 3 days, but I can already see where the extra calories crept in, and that they were mostly simple carbs.
Thank you for the challenge, and thank you for the next one too!

Maintenance Lessons Learned:
-go on with the healthy lifestyle learned in weight loss phase
-just add healthy foods gradually to stop losing
-work out every day - 30-60 minutes is enough to maintain weight and good mood
-do not try to balance overeating by extreme workouts, it is not going to work
-avoid overeating, instead of satisfaction you get stronger cravings

OOOps. I have been traveling and forgot to weigh. I could estimate, but that wouldn't feel right. Next challenge I'm really going to have it together!

So I'll be an unofficial challenger for a while and that is OK. Thanks to you good people who run these challenges (thinking of JEANKNEE) and to all the maintainers who show It Can Be Done!!

Today's actual 115.2
Trending 114.9

Week 8 scale weight statistics:

114.2 lbs. minimum
114.94 lbs. 7-day average
114.76 lbs. 10-day average
115.8 lbs. maximum

With the 8th week of the challenge coming to a close, I've had a much different experience than past summers. Ironically, the summer season which typically sees the highs of the year is seeing the lows and the most protracted lows experienced since my journey began in June 2013.

Of the 8 weeks, there are 3 full weeks of daily scale weights in scream weight territory which means I've seen a daily scale weight below the lower scream weight line I've set for myself. And, because those lows have been so protracted, the trend weights (both Hacker's Diet and Weight Grapher) went into scream weight territory as well.

Until fall of last year, I'd not seen the trend weights dip into scream weight territory. Scale weights? Yes. Trend Weights? No. The Hacker's Diet Fortnight Mean Trend Weight is in scream weight territory. The 28-day average of the daily scale weights remains in scream weight territory and has been there for some time now.

What gives me some solace is the daily scale weight low set in 2017 still stands. The daily low for 2018 has not been breeched either. Revisited? Yes. Breeched? No.

February thru May of this year saw no scale weights in scream weight territory. And, as I said earlier, ironically, the step below the lower scream weight line began in summer rather than fall. June thru August have all seen daily scale weights dip below that lower scream weight line.

August of 2017 saw the first dip into scream weight territory and it was during a bout of food poisoning. Other than that the other dips below the lower scream weight line have all occurred in the fall / winter months.

I'm really curious to see how this fall & winter go.

I am using the Hacker's Diet Online ("How to lose weight and hair through stress and poor nutrition," and not to be confused with the myriad other Hacker's Diet web sites) web site to calculate my trending weight. I will use the reading for the Wednesday of each week as the official weight for this challenge, regardless the day I post or how many times or what days I weigh myself during the week.

Today's actual 114.8
Trending 114.9

Looking at the point weights (daily scale weight) in fitbit, I see the following:

1 week ago -- 0.8 lbs. gained
1 month ago -- 0.8 lbs. lost
3 months ago -- 1.0 lbs. lost
1 year ago -- 0.4 lbs. lost

Just love seeing these tightly spaced point weights over the course of a year.

Here's the current Hacker's Diet Trend Analysis Chart:

Here's what that trend analysis chart looked like last year:

Here's the graph from Weight Grapher for August 2018 thru August 2019:

And, here's the previous year's graph (August 2017 thru August 2018) from Weight Grapher:

Riding that wave of the body's metabolic meltdown last summer was quite a ride. I am surprised by how nicely it has settled down. I had an interesting experience last night and sense it may be a good sign. Going to bounce it off the clinical nutritionist.

Ranges this week from 136.8 to 139.2. Although I do have quite a wide range my trend is continuing to be very tight.

I need to ask my rheumatologist if feta is allowed - she said no dairy. Feta general comes from sheep or goats. I love feta, just a little goes a long way. I've been using coconut milk for my coffee but I have had a lot of eggs, which she recommends that I eliminate. I've wanted a burger but I've avoided red meat as she requested. I've never eaten a lot of red meat at all but since she said don't eat it, I want it of course. I had one day of too much sugar. Still working out, one day of strength, three days of yoga, and three days of running. Yesterday, 10 miles, was supposed to be 12, but my connective tissue issues are flaring right now and I took that as a sign to cut it short.
