my gym has started a ZUMBA class. i've only taken it once, but WHOO it was interesting and fun. You shake your patooty for an hour all over the place. Lots of twisting and moving. Plus you have to let yourself go and really swing into the moves. It was great. I don't know how many calories i burned, but it doesn't matter.

Good or bad, at the very least, make it interesting.

Kellystipe-I'm glad you are enjoying exercising! DH and I have also brought out the bikes and it was great to ride around town! I'm glad you aren't dreading it. Good luck at the beach! Just think of all the progress you've made when you're tempted to eat the junk.

For the first time ever I am actually enjoying exercise! Sunday my husband and I rode our bikes to the grocery store to get our weekly groceries. We both had backpacks to carry home. It was about 45 minutes of cardio. Monday I went for a 60 minute walk with a friend around her neighborhood. Tuesday my husband and I rode our bikes to the local library...it was up hill the whole way there and there were several big hills on the way back...I thought I was going to die! It was about 60 minutes. Today I worked out with my sister in law who is also a personal trainer for an hour and did weight training as well as run for 20 minutes. I am going to the beach this weekend and I'm sure we will be walking a lot...the key is not eating the junk food! emoticon

CHRYSTALLEE23, according to these SP articles, circuit training can be counted as cardio

This week we will focus on CARDIO. emoticon

Cardio activities raise your heart rate level but you should still be able to talk while doing them. It helps you to burn calories, to make your heart strong, to make you feel good, to reduce stress, and so many other great things!

Let's all try to get in at least 90 minutes of cardio this week. If you'd like, you can use the format below to post your minutes each day (or everything at the end of the week):

Su:
M:
T:
W:
Th:
F:
Sa:

For example, this is what my usual weekly routine is and how I would post each day:

Su: 30 min walk/jog
M: 30 min walk/jog; 45 min swimming
T: 30 min walk/jog; 45 min Jazzercise
W: 30 min walk/jog; 45 min swimming
Th: 30 min walk/jog; 45 min Jazzercise
F: 30 min walk/jog
Sa: 45 min walk/jog; 45 min Jazzercise

Remember to eat enough calories when you are working out so that your calorie intake does not go below 1200 per day.

Have fun!! Do something that you enjoy. Push yourself but don't overdo it. Listen to your body. Throw that old cliché "No pain, no gain" out the window!! If you are experiencing pain you need to STOP! Rome wasn't built in a day, and the weight is not going to go away in a day. Make sure you pace yourself. Even 10 minutes of exercise is better than none at all.

YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!! emoticon
