Hi there,
I don't know any instructional videoes however I have a different kind of tip for you. I think you shouldn't focus so much on mastering and perfecting belly dancing (please wait till the end of this message.... :). I find dancing to be really freeing. I took me a long time to allow myself dancing in front of other people and now that I do it's the best. I think you should even just put on some Arabic music or whichever music you want and just DANCE. You won't believe how good it will make you feel.
I take dancing lessons at our local gym but I'm not sure if that is an option for you because of the cold weather. I struggle with stop thinking about what other people think and I notice that usually people are really focused on themselves. So if there is an option for you to dance with other people even once in a while. JUST DO IT! It has really helped my soul.
Dancing freely in bellydance class has also made me dance freely in other parties and it so much fun. I don't care about what other people think I come to enjoy myself and the music whereever I go. Not only does it feel great, but it burns calories and keeps me off the dessert table (jaja- don't worry I still enjoy chocolate )
So let me know what you think about any of my tips. Looking forward for you response.
Dancing is for everyone. God has put us here to be healthy and happy. You deserve to dance!!!

I have actually been doing bellydance on and off since January of 2010; more off than on since I haven't gotten that far! Does anyone have any recommendations for videos for a beginner? I used to do the Shimmy videos that were on Fit TV but they are so frustrating, which is why I am on and off. Once in a while I will pop them in and try again, to no avail. I would like something where it is longer than 15 minutes too. There is little instruction and the dances were not consistent on there so I pretty much gave up. Also, I broke my foot at work 5 years ago and I don't have the flexion that I should so some of the dances are hard, but I am still trying. Especially the 'jumping ones', which I definitely CANNOT do.

Being winter in the northeast there isn't much to do (I hate snow AND cold with a passion). I do take walks when it isn't horrendous out but on the cold or I don't feel like walking days, it's nice to do a video, but I can't find a good one. It would be awesome if something was on Youtube or on a free site for the moment; I am unemployed and literally have $3 to my name so buying something right now isn't feasible but I have no problem buying it when I get a job.

So basically something with GREAT instruction would be wonderful; I don't care what language it is in, as long as the dances are consistent. I do know the stances and everything and I can do some while watching TV, but it's nice to have some instruction so it wouldn't seem so long.

Sorry for the rambling, guys. My posts tend to be books.

Sometimes the way I write can come across the wrong way. I apologize if I offend anyone. I also have a habit of writing LOOOOOOOONG posts. Again, my apologies.
