Ladies--I am finishing up my 3rd troop (3 daughters) and have done most every Try-It and badge and IPA in the old books. Have not done a Journey and that is WHY this is the end of my troop--I don't like them! But if you have a question about the "old way" of doing things, let me know! (Never did petals--those came out since the 18 year old was in kindergarten.)

Word of warning--if you want to do a try-it/badge/IPA, buy it NOW since most are being discontinued!! You can earn them--but you may not be able to buy them in the future.

I really enjoy the folks on this site - just wish we had more participation. I try to check it every weekday.

I used to use my Sizzix machine & make paper dolls. I have lots of foam that I can use now. I'm getting inspired on this team!

On one of the sites (maybe the one being discussed) there are outlines for GS paperdolls. If you google it, it's easy to find. My girls always want to use these when they entertain the younger girsl . . . the way they get excited, it makes one think they like playing with them too.

I haven't started a troop forever either so not sure on ideas, but I thought I'd offer up this web site that is full of ideas for everything. It's my favorite GS tool. You do have to be careful because some stuff is out dated and there are new rules for different awards, but otherwise it has great ideas.

Thank you!!!
I searched online for an idea like that!
On makingfriends.com It's called a "Slam Book" made of paper pages w/ a foam cover. The girls write in eah other's books. They answer questions like "Who is your best friend?", "What do you want to be when you grow up?""What kind of pets do you have?" etc.
I have lots of different color foam sheets to use too. I'll get out my Sizzix machine too to cut out decors for the front pages.

Just an idea for crafts for the girls... I picked up (a package of 8) an "All about Me" poster for the girls to fill out on our first get-together. They got to fill it out, color it and then stand in front and review what they had written. I got these posters in a package of 8... (I think) from the dollar tree store. It was a fun activity for the girls to get to do while getting to know each other. Plus it gave the mom's time to talk things over. the mom's discussed details as to how many meetings we want to have each month (we decided on 2 - 1 for earning petals and one for fun participation patches), what dates or days of the month we wanted to meet, etc. Then we divied up the snack dates and who would work on what petal with the girls. I dont know what age group you are working with, but this is what we did for the Daisy's! Hope this helps.

Hello all!
I am starting a troop. I was a leader for 7 years, but I was in my 20's. Now I'm 51 yrs old and since starting menopause, my mind is drawing blanks, lol.
I really could use ideas on what to have the girls & their siblings do during registration & parent meeting.
They will be in living room, while we are in the kitchen. My husband will bring in a large white table & chairs for the kids.
We have lots of construction paper, glue, punches, different shape cutting scissors & crayons.
