My favorite juice right now that fresh tomatoes are ripe and delicious is: a large tomato, stalk of celery, carrot and half a lime...throw in a radish if you want a little extra kick. Better than V8. The celery and lime give that salty flavor without all that salt! Yum!

Purple Monster (my take on the green monster smoothies)

Into a magic bullet cup
1-2C of spinach
handful of berries (whatever you have)
Pureed peach (either add peach slices or prepuree and keep in the fridge, it keeps for days)
Peeled kiwifruit
Top up with apple juice

Wizz until smooth and enjoy. 4 servings of fruit and veggies all wizzed up into a smoothie. And soooo good, you can't taste the spinach

Well, I'm a noob to this whole juicer thing, but I've basically come up with 2 "base juices" that I like. So I've been using these as the base of my juicing, and then adding some various mix-ins (I usually juice a double portion at lunch, and save half for dinner).

Here are my 2 bases:

1) Granny Smith Apples and Carrots, in a 1-apple/2 large carrot ratio.

2) Cucumber and tomato, in a 1/2-cucumber/2-tomato ratio.

Then I add in some mix-ins to the base. I've done half a beet, garlic clove and parsley, half a red bell pepper (one of my favorites), a couple of celery stalks, and I'm going to get some ginger root this week.

Just some thoughts, and my favorite blends so far. If anyone has any suggestions for other yummy combinations or mix-ins, please let me know!!!

I think ginger in fresh juices makes everything better :)

I just got home from doing a 5km walk after doing my daily Shred dvd workout, so needed something easy and to wind down.

I made one using -
2 pears / 3 apples / chunk of ginger / 3 carrots.
YUM!

Vitamin C Attack

One of the best things to do for the flue is to drink a lot of liquids that are dense with vitamin C. Let's do as the doctor ordered and get some rest and drink the Vitamin C Attack.

2-3 cups sliced watermelon
1 cup sliced cantaloupe

Here's a new one I've recently been making.

Combine in blender:
1 cup soy milk
fresh fruit of one mango
1/2 cup of mango sorbet
3 or 4 ice cubes
(If too thick, you can add 1/4 cup water)
Makes two big glasses.

I find this is good, healthy & either a breakfast treat for those mornings when I have back to back meetings or else for late evenings when I have had very few calories that day. It is low fat, high in fiber & Vitamin A, full of calcium, and perfect for the warm weather. You can also add soy protein powder if you want even more staying power although this holds me quite a while.

Almond milk
1 banana
3 tbsp peanut butter
3 tbsp nutella

very good (of course you can adjust for your liking)
