Ya I used to do about 50-60 minutes a day too but I dont have the time to do that and get my weights in to. I have a weird work schedule and I now have two dogs also, but I do count my walk with the dogs too and if I do any kind of heavy cleaning ect also which balances it all out.

Ya if you need help with something just let me know. I can help with posting exercise too if you want. You should try to send out an email soon so that maybe we could start on sunday.

Also I was thinking that we start a challenge using the healthy living scale on the sparkpage. You go do the scale and then record on the thread if you got very healthy, healthy or what ever the other two are ( dont remember ). When I first got on sp I was on a thread for that and it work well cause it gives you something els to focus on besides weigh your self or going by how your clothes fit. Then for an x-tra bonus people can set money aside for getting a very healthy or healthy or come up with some other way to reward themselves with it.

Another thing to I was thinking was we could start threads one for each meal ( not snack's we can throw those in with meals )to record lunch breakfast and dinner. It would kinda be a way to be accountable.

Boxing is a lot of fun. I go 3 times a week at my gym. It's not as hard core as it could be, but it works for my workout style and I sweat more than I ever have in any kind of workout. I think that its a great cardio supplement to the Buff Brides. I agree that you definitely need more than 60 minutes of cardio a week. I generally do at least 60 minutes a day!

Hey sorry I was MIA. I was with my boyfriend at his parents house for the weekend.

maybe you could send out an email to the whole team about the book and dvd and if people are intested they could go get it. one or both depending if they are using it at home or at a gym.

the book has you do the same routine 2 weeks in a row so maybe we could just post the exercise also for the people who are intersted? and then they could find similar exercise on SP if they need a demo on how to do it.

Also I agree the cardio is only 60 minutes for the whole week which I dont think is enough. I think 140 minutes is the minumum any one should be doing. That's only 20 minutes / 7 days or 28 minutes / 5 days. Averaging 20 minutes a day and staying in your calorie range should put you aty losing about 2 lbs a week. If you tend to have a few slip ups or just want to make sure you are at least hitting 2-3 lbs lose a week up it 40 minutes average a day.

I would be up for doing the 12 wqeek program. And maybe we could either post starting weights or mesurments or something and repost them at the end of every week?

I know what you mean!
The Buff Brides book doesn't really have specifics on cardio, so I don't follow it. The cardio rules they do have don't really flow with me. So I do my own thing.

The strength training exercises weren't enough for me either after a while, so I added new exercises to do, and more reps and that helped.

Ohhh boxing! I always wanted to try that!! How is it??

I do enjoy the book. I haven't been following it that closely, but will look at it when I need some new exercises. I'm not a fan of the cardio part of the dvd because it doesn't seem as intense. It may be because I have been doing the Jillian Michaels dvds and then boxing classes at the gym. But - some others may feel that it works them hard enough :-)

Do you have a suggestion as to how we would set that up? What kind of goals would we set?

I forgot to mention that I got the book and I'm loving it. ^_^ I'm on week 3, although this week was a bust due to work, so I'm doing week 3 next week as well. One thing I've noticed is that it's helping a lot with my arms which are have always been a little flabby. *thumbs up*

I went out and bought the
Buff Brides book ( $16 at Barnes & Noble ) after reading about it on here. Maybe we could start a weekly challange with it.

I haven't done the dvd :(

I suggest if you feel that they are not enough to add more reps, and possibly do more different buff brides strength exercises in the book. I do that all the time.

Has anyone done the DVD? I have the book and I'm on week three (should be week four but I missed a few!). I'm curious how the DVD is...I'm not really feeling anything after a workout with the book. I have 5 and 8 pound weights and when I'm doing the exercises, I feel it, but the next day its like I didn't even work out. I thought maybe the DVD would help me push myself even more.

I just got the book today and was wondering if it was really necessary to get the dvd (barnes and nobles just sold the book). I looked at the book and have planned to start tomorrow (just got back from Chicago today...it was an awesome city). Also, was curious if anyone had any tips on the book workout. I have 9 months til my wedding so I was starting with the 6 month program.

Wanted to see how the book was working for others? How the program was working?

Good luck everyone:)

I also bought The Wedding Workout from Women's Health, and Jillian Michaels 30-day Shred. So I am so ready to get BUFF!

I have the DVD and the book...I haven't gotten to the book, but the strength training sections on the DVD kicked my butt and I thought I was in pretty good shape. I'm going to start reading and following the book. I hope that i can stick with the program

There are two different programs you can follow. Included in the book is different sorts of strength training and suggestions for cardio as well. I bought the book a year or two ago, and now the book comes with a DVD I believe. It's pretty neato, and it helps if you need more direction and structure...and I know I do hahaaaa

I had been living under a rock and hadn't heard of it until Josie told me about it today.
I have found them on Amazon.com, but haven't managed to find any copies in Australia yet.
Will have to keep my eye out for it. :)

I bought it from Amazon.com. It was super cheap from there!!

I originally watched the show Buff Brides a few years back, and I loved it. I will send you the links! One is to the Author's site Sue Fleming, and the other is the tv show on discovery health. I recommend it!

I bought the Buff Brides book about a year ago and it is sooo great!! I highly recommend it. I started using it and it was great, I stopped though unfortunalty, but I am back on the band wagon.

I am taking the 12 week crash course. I am soooo sore now!!

I will post some exercise material in this room when I get a chance.
