Hey,

Good for you for getting started on this! I'm sure it'll go really well for you and good luck with your run!

As for the apps, I'm fairly sure almost all of them can be 'edited'. Mine for example, is called Get Running (icon of a trainer) and I love it. It's a 9 week app. However, When you finish week 1, you don't HAVE to go to week 2. You can just tap on the week 1 and restart it. So if you wanted to do every week for 2 weeks this would be an 18 week app. Or if week 1 and 2 were easy for you but week 3 is a bit difficult,you can go back to week 2 (or week 1 if you want) and restart or keep going on week 3 until you think you're comfortable enough to go to week 4.

As far as I'm aware most apps offer this feature as a lot of people do this literally from the couch. They may take a couple of weeks just to complete week 1 if they've been totally sedentary. I don't know of one that has an extended time to start with but I know mine says total week in the description, so there possibly is one out there if you go through the descriptions at how many weeks total the app offers.

Hi Folks

I'm 53 and a big lad at 139 kilos (300 pounds) and 5'11".

I gave up smoking 3 months ago (after 40 years) and have this week decided to get back in the saddle (after MANY aborted attempts) and focus on a healthier lifestyle.

My goal is to run the Sydney City To Surf (around 14 k's I think) in August 2016 so that gives me a year.

If someone asks me about what to eat or what to drink or carbs vs protein I have had 40 years of experience with food to give advice but I am LOST when it comes to exercise like this.

I am a walker not a runner so this is all kind of new.

I am not sure that I can do an 8 week C25K considering my weight and my recovering lungs. I am thinking more like a 12 week one just to give me a little more time to lose weight and get used to breathing again!

I am using Myfitnesspal and a Fitbit Flex and they are working great together but I really think I need a dedicated C25K app for this.

Does anyone know of an app which allows you to change the number of weeks from 8 to 12 for example? I don't want to start and feel defeated on the second day when I can not manage the jogging straight off.

I am committed and I should probably wait till I have 20 kilos off but I want to start now - just a little more slowly.

Can anyone suggest an app (paid is OK) that they have used and love for C25K?
