I often told my self that I will just put on my running clothes and go outside. I don't have to run if I didn't feel like it by the time I got to wherever I was supposed to run. It turns out that that was all that I needed, and I never came back home without completing my run.

This may be one of those times you have to trick your brain. I know I have to, anyway. My suggestions:

1. Tell yourself you're really going for a walk. Week one is mostly walking, so it's not lying.
2. Set up a reward for when you're done, like a square of chocolate or a manicure (which seems like a big deal, but really, you're doing something that IS a big deal!) or a new notebook if you're a writer/artist, a new app... something that you want but is just enough of a stretch that you feel like you have to earn it.
3. Don't think about it, just do it. Break it down into the individual actions you have to do to get out there, and focus on what you're doing RIGHT NOW, not what you're going to do two minutes from now. "Right now I'm finding my sneakers. Right now I'm putting my sneakers on. Right now I'm bundling up to the degree necessary. Right now I'm pulling up some music on my phone (or starting an app). Right now I'm walking." At that point, I usually am doing enough physically to at least partially disengage my brain and not think about it.

I hope any or all of those strategies are helpful!

I have to get up early and just go before my brain has chance to wake up and think of any excuses!
