What do you think of the "random" setting? Ideally, I want it to mimic my neighborhood -- I'd prefer to be running outdoors, but with two-plus feet of snow on the ground and the sidewalks only sorta cleared, that's not happening for a while.

Yeah, I'm with MTNMOMMA - at least 1.0!

My success is measured in miles. Not calories, not pounds, not ounces, not inches, not numbers. It's measured by that feeling in my lungs as I push past what I thought was possible.

I just set the incline to 1 (I guess that is 1%) based on this LiveStrong article on the topic.

Since it looks like I'll be running inside on the gym treadmills until the sidewalks recover from the giant blizzard, I could use some advice on how to program it. I'd been leaving it on manual and just shifting from 3mph walking to 4.5mph running, but I read that using a treadmill without any incline is cheating yourself because the belt does some of the work for you. I'd like it to resemble my mildly hilly neighborhood. Should I just use the "random hills" setting, and will I be able to vary the speed manually if I do? Is there a way to set a custom program that will change the speed for me at my current C25K intervals? I'm a total newbie to the gym, and I didn't manage to ask about treadmill settings at my one free fitness assessment appointment with a trainer.

Thanks!
