I've done some 5k's before, but quit running for a while. I do a lot of walking also. I'm wanting to do a Cupid's Chase 5k on February 9th, but that one will be mostly walking. On the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend they have an annual race here, called the Fort Bayard wilderness run. One event is 8 miles and goes through a lot of trails. But the 5k goes through part of a historic site called Fort Bayard, and out onto the trails a little and circles around back to end in Fort Bayard. it's a small event, with about 100 or so participants total. maybe a little more. That's what I have lined up for now. I live in southern New Mexico in a rural area and most races I have to travel 2 hours or more to. The Cupid's Chase is 2 hours away but fun. I've done it twice before and it is fairly flat. My area is very hilly. To get to any of the major big races I would have to travel to Phoenix or something, which is about 6 1/2 hours one way, not counting how much time it would take to get to where it actually starts.

Happy New Year! Lets start it off right with a C25K Challenge. I actually am on week 2 currently but we could do an 9 week challenge since I am going to add the +5k option for a 10K in April, Who is in? emoticon
