Don't beat yourself up!! My personal philosophy is that every morning we wake up in, is another chance to start over. So as long as you get up in the morning, you can start up again!! No worries! I'm repeating week 1 this week, just not ready to go too hard or far, I'm so much NOT a runner yet! But I'll get there...I'm determined this time! How's everyone doin??? emoticon

How is everyone else doing?

Also, to answer your questions:

I am a VERY SLOW runner. According to SparkPeople's fitness tracker, I am technically walking. But I know that's not true. Speed will come eventually... right now I just focus on running for the allotted time, without stopping.

I run outside... I've found it's much easier for me. On a treadmill, I feel like I'm not going anywhere or many any progress. I suggest trying out both, and sticking to what's right for you.

You can do it!
Remember... this program isn't for "experienced" runners. It's for people like you and me that have a trouble running for even a minute at a time.

I started C25K last year. I got halfway through the first day, gave up, and didn't try again till this summer. Luckily, I pushed through this time, and now I'm halfway through Week 7!

I promise you, if you give it time, and stick to the program, you WILL succeed. It won't be easy - every run is going to push you to your limit. You might have to spend 3 weeks on just one week's program. It's okay. Listen to your body. As long as you are running 3 times a week, and you advance when you are ready, you will make it to the end of the program.

Good luck! Always come back here for advice an encouragement... that's what we're here for!

I went out again this morning. I still didn't finish, but I got through 5 jogging intervals this time - 2 more than yesterday. So I am getting closer, but at this rate, I will be on W1 for three weeks. I hope that I don't hold you ladies back too much.

Do you run outside or on a treadmill?

Yesterday, I ran around a dirt track. It was so boring.

I mapped a route using the My Fitness thing. It was just over 1.5 miles. I thought that would be enough for today's run. I was so wrong. One of the reasons that I quit (other than my calves were starting to burn), is that I was near my car.

I am having issues with picking a route. If I ran near my home, I would have to end with going uphill. ugh!

How fast are you all running/jogging? I feel like I am going sooooooo slow. I feel ridiculous. lol

Great! I don't run again until Wednesday but we can either keep this thread going or start a thread for each week. Might be easier to keep this thread going and save it as a favorite or subscribe to the discussion. Let's rock the pavement!!!!!

Great job everyone!! I am here to announce that I, too, finished W1D1!! Hollllerrrrrr!!!! :) Thanks for being here, because I need all the support I can get! I always lose momentum around week 3, so I'm hoping I can get to the end of the program this time. I usually repeat week 1 two weeks in a row, because I'm brand new to running and I'm pretty heavy, but maybe this time will be different! Talk to you all soon. And again, great job everyone, Week1 Day1 is the right way to start and you took the first step!! emoticon

I just completed W1D1 today. It was hard, I'm not going to lie. Just listen to your body and do what you can. Every time you start you get closer to completing. Do you use the podcast? I did and it really helped. I did poop out on the 7th interval (there are eight) and thought I would not be able to continue. However, I kept going and felt better on the 8th interval.

If it's something you want to do, stick with it! It really does get easier. I couldn't believe how hard starting was for me. Now, I am actually looking forward to my runs because it's so cool to see some improvement! Even now, I still have days where I'm just now that into it, and I figure some is better than none at all! Good luck:)

My first day was awful! I felt the same way . . . just fooling myself that I could really be a runner. That being said, when I did day 2, I couldn't believe how much better it was! Still hard, but I did feel like "maybe I CAN do this". Take it one step at a time. I don't know if I am really a runner, but I will keep at it and see how much better it gets. Don't give up!

Today was W1D1 for me.

I was super excited! I stretched. I warmed up. I jogged. I gave up halfway through.

I was on a track, and I kept thinking about how many times I still had to go around. I was both overwhelmed and bored by that thought.

I suppose that I will be doing Week 1 for a few weeks.

Next time I will just run the streets. That way I can't just give up at any point and take a short walk to my car. Too bad there are hills and few sidewalks near my home - walking will be interesting.

Am I fooling myself into thinking that I can be a runner?

Half of a workout is better than none at all, right? I will get there... it may just take a lot longer.
