On week 7 of C25K but ran my first 5K today in 38 minutes :) It was definitely the first time I have EVER run that far. I'm so happy I started this journey, can't wait to keep going and run another race!

Completed my first 5K this evening. Unofficial time 42:38. I am thrilled!! Three more races are planned for the summer with hopes of improvement of my time. I had a wonderful group of family, friends and co-workers at the race for support. I am so blessed!

I ran my 4th 5K in four months today. Fleet Feet Women's Fitness Festival--June 6, 2010 in Sacramento, California. We ran around the State Capitol twice. It was a beautiful race--we even had some shade. Lots of people and support. There were 3500 women running and walking. I was so happy because again I beat my best time. 41:37 overall 897/3500 runners. Age group 45-49 82/184 runners.

Great time running your first 5K

And you are so right about getting out there and running the races. You wont be disappointed in going out and running one. Just remember its not about time it is about the experience. It is a great time if you set a goal of just finishing it.

My first 5K I spent enjoying the scenery and people more than just running a race. too much fun!

I ran my first 5k race today! 11 weeks after starting C25k. I ran it in 31:49! It was really hot out and I actually think I could have sub-30 if it would have been cooler, but I'm still pretty happy. 31:49 is one minute faster than my fastest training run and three minutes faster than my average.

To anyone thinking about running a race DO IT! I was TERRIFIED when I got there and I felt absolutely RIDICULOUS. I felt out of place like I didn't belong, but it ended up being so silly of me to feel that way. I was worried I'd be last and there were less than 200 runners so I felt like the odds were high I would be last. But, there were quite a few runners who finished after 40 minutes.

Just know that if you're like me and you feel like you'd be out of place and silly-looking you MUST push through that. The REWARD at the end is so worth it. You will feel so proud of yourself! I have another 5k in three weeks. I'm hooked!

Ran my first ever 5K today! Official finish was 46:05--and I just finished W7D3 on Wednesday! Not too horrible, didn't come in last and left lots of room for improvement!! But I ran the thing and never gave up!!! The grin on my face couldn't have been any wider!

I was on W8D2 today. But I felt so good that I just kept going! I ran through the 5 minute cool down, and the 5 minute warmup for the next week. So I ended up running 38 minutes straight! Then I walked for about 7 minutes and I got like another 5 minutes running in before I got tired. I'm so happy! My first real 5k race is schedule for July 3rd. Wish me luck!

I joined this group not too long ago, but did my first 5K a week ago Friday (more like a week and a half ago). I did blog it, but I finished 36:45!! I was very happy with how I did.

I am hoping to do at least the half marathon next yera if not the marathon (gotta dream big, right?).

I plan on doing the C25K since there are a lot of 5K's in my life left to do, and I think it is healthy to really focus on the training of running!

PR's:

1 mile ~ 8:30
5K ~ 29:15
7K ~ 42:12
8K ~ 48:27
10K ~ 58:30
Half-Marathon ~ 2:17:44

emoticon to everyone who has finished/done a 5k!!! I started c25k in January and kept re-doing weeks. When I hit wk5, I redid it 2ce. On w6d1, something just clicked in me and I kept running through the walk breaks. After that, I would turn on the program for each run, but I kept on running for the whole 30ish minutes. Yesterday, I decided to do the very last day - 40 minutes total, including walks - and I ran the entire time (2 min warm up, which I added on at the end). In 42 minutes of running, I went exactly 3 miles. I'm slow, but I'm a graduate! :)

I ran my first 5K race on Saturday! I finished in 43:06 and was 142 of 172 runners. It felt like the first day of school, I was so nervous driving up - but it was fun and I had a great time! I live in the mountains, and this course was VERY hilly - but I finished in the time I had estimated based on my other run this week - almost exactly what I predicted! My husband was there as my fan club, photographer and #1 supporter - he's so great!!
I can't wait 'til my next 5K!

I'm in Week 8 of C25K - and now want to work on my speed. So thanks for all the support and great camaraderie on this sparkteam. It feels like we are all in this together :)

The West Seattle 5k was my 1st 5k - so you must be close!
There is another run in August along the same course in Alki - I'm planning on running it to see how much improvement I have in my running over the summer.

WOODMOM: Thanks. My brother actually gave me the idea. I think it'll work out well since it's a pretty varied route with a few gradual ups & downs, and a fairly sizeable hill. The main reason I did it was to have a set route that I can measure against and be consistent. The route map on the fitness tracker helped me map it out. Good Luck!

It only costs a nickel more to go first class.

Last night, I ventured off my treadmill and ran a 5K route I had mapped out around my neighborhood. Came in at 43:25, which was slower than I would have liked, but considering where I was about 10 weeks ago, It's defenately something to be proud of. Now I have a baseline time and have something to try and beat.

It only costs a nickel more to go first class.
