Like LindaKay - I am also surprising myself - I finished Week 6 today emoticon

Since I have the 20 minute and now 25 minute runs (actually jogs) behind me, I know that I can go for that long. My jogging is only slightly faster than my walk (not that I walk fast) - until the last 2 minutes when I pick up the pace, probably to a normal run (not sprint, just regular run ) and it feels good to know that I can, at least for a few minutes, put together some movement that isn't terribly embarrassing.

I will continue to make progress emoticon

W6D2-DONE! Completed on the treadmill (I have been running outside). It was terribly hard for me last nite. I can walk faster than I run. Well, on to W6D3 and good-bye to intervals. Only running now, it's almost a relief. Although I may change my mind when I have to run for 25 minutes straight :)

I'm working on week 6 also and agree with those who feel the interval days are harder. I sort of feel like when I am expected to walk my rhythm is interrupted and it's hard to get running again. Also, I have not been sleeping enough. W5D3 went very smoothly. W6D1 not so much. I was certain someone had tied bricks to my running shoes. W6D2 tomorrow. I'm hopeful that because it's a 10 minute run it won't be so bad.

I finished Week 6 Day 1 - the 1st 5 minute run was hardest for me - guess it just takes me a long time to warm up, I still have shin pain but I will not let it stop me.

W6D1 complete. Not so bad, even though I wasn't terribly motivated to do it. Trudged through the runs at 4.5-4.7mph. Need to move it outside, but need to find someplace relatively flat. (I'm a wimp!)

W6D3 did not go well at all :( I had a lot on my mind and my knee didn't feel too great, so I ended up stopping about 8 minutes into the run. I will try again tomorrow.

W6D1 - wow, tougher than I thought it would be. I have to remember to keep my pride in check - I was so psyched from the 20 minute run from W5D3...thought this would be a piece of cake. Not so much - well, on to Day 2 :)

W6D3 tomorrow. We've had the worst weather here in Toronto lately, my last run was difficult because of the wind, and it even snowed and rained a bit for the last 10 minutes. I'm really starting to feel like a runner now, and I'm excited to start working on increasing my time and distance (and hopefully speed!) from here on.

I just finished week 6. I'll admit on that last run it was really nice to at least not be worrying about having to stop and start all the time. After most of the intervals were done I started skipping the podcasts that announce when to run and not and just using the treadmill clock instead and listening to a fitness podcast so that I would have something to occupy my mind a little bit.

I actually took two weeks off between week 5 and week 6 because my body was getting too exhausted between C25K and the EA 30 day challenge at the same time. I figured that I'd just have to hope I wouldn't lose any conditioning, since I'd still be working out, and either that was the case, or the fact that my body was just a heck of a lot more rested than it had been in the last few runs carried me through.

Intervals, you will be missed. Don't worry, after I complete C25K I'll come back to you as I bridge to 10K. (Although I might rendesvous with you sometime in-between the other workouts if I want some of your speed training!)

Week 6... was that all you had for us? Either you didn't put up much of a fight or... could it be? ... we're all becoming (gasp) RUNNERS?!

From here on out, it's all a mental game. We all have the physical capacity to get through the workouts as long as we pace ourselves at a rate that won't take too much out of us to reach the end. Don't forget to keep well hydrated (especially those of you in the warmer climates) so you don't cramp up.

Way to go folks! You all did an astounding job getting through this week! See you in Week 7!

W6D3 Done!!! It was sunny, hot (81), humid and a strong wind. I wasn't sure I could do it, but I said will do "10", then when I got there, I just kept adding "5" on till it was done. I have to trick myself. LOL On to week 7 and I agree with Kittiwakes, that I am sad there are no more intervals. I need to get a good base though, since we are going to Aruba next Sat for a week and I don't know if I will have time to do any running. My husband usually wants me with him and not off running by myself when we are on vacation. I will get lots of other exercise though.

W6D1 done as well! I had to take my run indoors today since it was pouring outside, and I found the treadmill so challenging mentally. Running has always been a mental challenge (I'm hoping this improves as I start running longer distances regularly!) but the treadmill in particular is ANGUISH for me. But I got through it, and hopefully the next run will be easier once I'm back outside.

I think I'm going to count it as W6D2. I was supposed to do that day in the program today, but a 5k attempt should count, right? I'm going to move on to D3 on Monday. If I have trouble then I guess I'll go back to D2.

Happy running everyone!!!

I just finished W6D1. It was surprisingly hard. I expected after accomplishing 20 minutes that this day would be easy. But, I didn't drink enough water beforehand and started running too fast. I got a stitch in my side toward the end, but managed to finish.

I'm a little nervous now because this Saturday I'm running in the Revlon NYC 5k run/walk. I wanted to try running the whole thing, but maybe I shouldn't. Maybe I should just do W6D2. It's not a real race anyway (not timed). And I think there's thousands of people (mostly walkers) and they don't have a special place up front for the runners. So, you spend most of your time dodging walkers. We'll see how it goes. I'll post how it went when I finish!

D2 down for me...D3 will actually be a part of my first 5K. My plan is to do the 5 min warmup before the start...do my 25 min run for D3 and keep going if I can or walk....whatever feels right.

Week 6 done. Did day 3 today. It was rough since I have been really stressed and whatnot. Last minute was straight uphill - not the best planning on my part. On to week 7! Signing up for a 5K in early June so we can have the 2-3 weeks in between to work on speeding up so we can get through the 5k in 30ish minutes.

Back to SP to lose 30+ pounds so I can try for a baby! Ready to get fit and healthy and stay that way this time.

D1 for me in W6. Thought it would be easier than it was. I felt so triumphant after the 20 min run to finish last week that I thought today would be a breeze...more like a wind storm. But , I pushed through and got it done.
Thanks C25K team for the support and encouragement to keep going.

W6D2 done and it was TERRIBLE. Hated it. It's stuffy and went from windy to stagnant and rained on us the whole last half. I wore different shoes b/c of the rain and it was a terrible decision. They cut into my feet and my response to the pavement was very different.

Hopefully being done with the interval runs is a good thing and it's all smooth sailing with all the long runs here on out right?

Week 6 in the book! 25 minute run done, and covered just at 2 miles. I wasn't able to go outside today, so I did it on the treadmill @ a 2.5 incline. Very nervous about W7 coming up, but I know I can at least get day one done, right?

It only costs a nickel more to go first class.

Day 1 done. I was tired today and had a crappy day so I really pushed myself running and went a little faster than normal to express my rage. I am definitely starting to crave running, which I never thought I would say.

Did day 2 this morning. Felt like it was much more taxing than it needed to be. I really had to reduce my speed and reduce my incline on the treadmill to get through it. I might just be taxed from all the running around i've been doing the last week and it's all catching up to me now. Maybe a few days of rest will help.

It only costs a nickel more to go first class.

Week 6, day 1 in the books. I had overslept this morning so I had to squeeze it in this evening. I was able to pump my inclne on the treadmill to 2.5 and was going 4.5mph on my speed most of the time. I was able to do 5.0mph the 2nd to last minute and finshed the last minute @ 6.0mph. I usually seem to do better in the evening than in the morning, at least speed wise.

It only costs a nickel more to go first class.

WooHoo! I did Day 3 this morning! It felt so amazing. I went down the the bike/running trail (it's 10.41 miles in complete distance) and did it there. I do not listen to the podcasts anymore, the music just isn't working for me, so I listen to my own music. And I wouldn't let myself look at my watch for a time check until I'd completed more than one mile (there are posts every 1/2 mile to show the distance). So after I made it past the 1.5 mile marker I allowed myself to look at my watch and I discovered that there were only 8 minutes left to go! So I kept going, I never stopped then, when my watch did hit the 25 minute mark, I could see the 2 mile marker in the distance and I decided I needed to go for it (I'd started before the first marker post, so I don't know for sure what my total running distance was, but this way I'd be sure that it was at least 2 miles). When I finally reached the post, I looked at my watch and I was less than 30 seconds from hitting 30 minutes, so I completed the 30 minutes before I let myself stop. Then I walked to the next post for a marker point to log my distance, and turned around. At this point I was a long way from my car, and a little shorter on time than I wished, so I did some intervals on the way back to (just 5 minute intervals or so), and in the end I completed 6.1 miles in 97 minutes. So, needless to say, I'm really proud of myself. Oh, and something really weird happened in the middle of it. During the time that I wasn't allowing myself to look at my watch I was felling really good and I actually felt kind of bored. How does that happen? How can I possibly get bored while running? I changed up my music a little bit, and that helped some, but to think that I was actually bored boggled my mind! Is this when you call yourself a runner? LOL, anyway the boredom didn't last forever, I felt really good when I was done, and can't wait to do it again. So, I'm ready now to enter week 7! WooHoo!!!

Great job Suzanne!
I did day 2 yesterday. Got through 1st 10 mins ok. Had to stop 3 (10sec) stops during the 2nd 10. So I didn't attempt day 3 25 min run. But I did repeat day 1 again today and it was easier this time. So I think I'm going to stay on Week 6 this week.

Just got back from day 3. I mapped out a 2 mile course and did it in 25 mins. so technically I didn't DO it because the first 3 mins was my warm up. I did stop a couple of times but felt really good at the end and walked an additional 9 mins as a cool down when I walked back to where my friends were. I do have a longer course I will try on Monday for week 7 since it is 25 minutes again and see how I do with that but feel really good with the run today!

I did it! Day 1 last night, outdoors, at the middle school track while daughter was practicing soccer. I do much better with the intervals. Had to make one 30 sec. stop once during 8 minute run for water, but I am so glad I moved on to week 6 instead of staying on week 5. It's got me motivated to think I really can do this. Very SLOWLY, but I can do it. So glad to see you all here too. Wow- to think 6 weeks ago I couldn't run for 2 minutes.

emoticon LRIVARD! That is awesome!

I attempted day 3 today but started feeling dizzy toward the end of the run and had to walk. I got close though, and I KNOW I'm going to finish it on Saturday. It just wasn't my morning. emoticon

WooHoo!! I did W6D3! It hasn't really sank in yet though. Mentally, 25 minutes seems way to long for my and my jelly belly to run, but I'm sure my watch was right. I did it! I had to stop twice for 20-30 seconds in order to take a drink. I haven't mastered the drinking while running thing, it normally ends up down the front. I ran outside too, which I wasn't so sure I could do, as most people say it challenges them more, but it was too nice of a morning to stay on the treadmill. I'm so excited! what a feeling! Now all I have to do is find some running pants that stay up at the waist, I bought a nice pair of yoga pants that DO NOT work while running. I ran the 25 minutes with one hand on my waist band so that they wouldn't fall down. emoticon
