W2D1 finished! Ran at the gym today, and I'm noticing I'm getting more soreness and pain in my knees and hips. Also shin splints. I think it's time to invest in some quality shoes. I hear they make a huge difference.

Did W2D2 today. I took my dog with me today on the running leash. He did well for the first part of the program, but then became kind of a distraction. I had to stop about 60-70 seconds in on the last two running intervals so he could "do his business". hahah. I paused the podcast a couple times so I didn't lose too much time. It is fun to have a running buddy though, and it was beautiful outside, so it felt great!

Week 2 Day 1...done!

I was pushing the jogging stroller for four of the runs and it really wore me out. Hubby pushed the stroller the last intervals. I felt good and am happy that my iffy knee didn't give me any problems...yey!

Well I am happy to announce that I did w2d2 today. Judging by today's run, I will be doing this one again. Week 1 was good, easy, not too easy, but easy. Sunday was hard. Today I stretched really good before and after. No pain in the groin area, like last time. I also took the time to stretch yesterday, and today while I was at work. But, the important thing is I DID IT! Too bad hubby's at work. Would like to tell him.

I sort of did w2d1 today. During the 5th running part I had to go to walking at about 65 seconds. I was out of breath. And at the 6th and the last running I had to stop at 20 seconds in. I started to get a pain in my hamstring. I was afraid to keep running. Don't want to injure myself. So, I just walked. Nice to know that the pain was not there when I walked. Stretched extra long after. Hoping that the pain will not be there Tuesday. Strange thing, while I was stretching I got a muscle cramp in my hamstring. But I am not giving up just yet, will try again Tuesday.

So today I was able to get my run in outside instead of on the treadmill. Boy, it was tough because of all the hills. I have a feeling that I may be repeating week 2 for a second time. I realize that it is the first day and it could get better. My thought for day two was to complete my run on a flatter trail and see if it is any better.

Good morning!
I will be starting week 2 tomorrow. I have used the program in the past but now I'm restarting after months away from spark people. Sometimes, school work can get in the way. LOL. Anyway, last week I kept to the treadmill due to the heat and the humidity. I'm hoping that I can start this weeks run outside. Wish me luck!

FINISHED W2 this morning!!! It was hot again, and I have cramps, but I did it anyway. See you all in W3!!!

CAG931 - side cramps can be from a number of things, but you can get rid of them if you belly breathe deeply (and sometimes it works to press into the cramp as you breathe). Concentrate on making your breaths deep during your runs and push the air out through your mouth slower. I still can't breathe in through my nose, but I've got the exhales down now so I stopped getting cramps.

Just finished W2D2 Sat will be my last run for the week. I can't remember when a you have a pain in your side while running is that because you need to drink more water or you need more oxygen. I might be repeating week 2 but we will see. I know I will definitely be slowing down in week 3 :D I am soooooo excited to run 3 min!

I just finished W2D3 and it was really tough. It was like I was fatigued, but I just slowed down and ran/walked thru it. My left calf hurt a bit, but I stretched and it feels better now. On to Week 3 next monday!

Started C25K in August.

Finished W2D1 tonight (I am going to bed soon today is still the 17th for me). I only ran 1.75 I think on the treadmill. I am glad to read that most of you said the second day was better cause I was a little worried about this one but I do think I did pretty well. I ran from 4.7 to 5 and walked from 2.7 to 3 maybe I will look back at that on week 9 and be like wow I am much faster. I don't really think I ever passed maybe 5.5 I am trying to remember back but I think my fastest 1.5 miles I ever did was 13.50 well second to fastest I would love to know what my fastest was but with a Drill Sgt I wasn't about to ask again. I love the program because you feel so great after you did it. Well I look forward to completing day 2 on the 19th :D Good luck with day three everyone.

I think I'm doing close to 2 miles. I mapped my route the first day and we're sticking pretty close to that. I may go out with my Jeep and measure kilometers one day.

I'm doing about 2 miles in week 2. That's fine for me though. I'm shooting for time, not distance right now. They say you should be able to run a 5K in about 30 minutes by the end of the program, but that's NOT going to happen for me - it will likely take me over 40. My goal is to run it under 40 minutes at my race in November.

W2D1 done! Like Kithkincaid, the weather was better here - certainly not cool, but not as stiflingly hot and humid as it has been for the past week or so. Plus we went out earlier, right at 5 am, which may have helped. My DS quit halfway through (had to go to the bathroom), but DH and I kept going. I was BEAT by the last run, but I DID IT!

W2D1 done!! I felt really good at the beginning but really struggled at the end. I was proud of myself for pushing through. When my brain was telling me how pathetically out of shape I am, my legs answered with "I AM NOT!!!"
We'll see how Sunday goes with W2D2. I may spend some extra time on week 2 until I feel comfortable moving on.

I'm in week two of the C25K, but I forgot the interval lengths. So I ended up doing 60 seconds of walking, and 120 seconds of jogging. I rechecked the plan today, and I was way off. Whoops! emoticon emoticon

I did W2D1 today! It was not too bad. I love how this program works and how it makes me feel like I really might be able to become a runner. I worry a little about what I will do at the end . . . will I still be able to run without the podcasts? I hope so!

Just did Week 2 Day 1. Working on my pace. I think I was trying to go too fast last week and it made me feel sort of erratic. But I feel it went much more smoothly today, even with the longer intervals. I am, however, getting a bit bored with the track. I think I have to venture out into the world and hit the sidewalks. I'm just a little scared of hills. :) :)I do love Sunday mornings, though - no one else is out there! I've got the whole world to myself and it's beautiful!

I start w2d1 tomorrow. Anyone know when we get to run everyday? I really hate my rest days! I feel like I am forgetting something! LOL

Mini Goals -
1- Work out six days a week at the gym
2- Be in the 170's for vacation April 1st.
3- Stay focused on good eating habits and stay away from processed foods.
4- Stay focused on running. I want to be able to run three miles straight no stopping before my first true race this summer....Date to be announced later.Currently I can run .5 miles no stopping.

Just finished week 2 day 1 this morning! I was worried about being able to run 90 seconds. But, I did it! It wasn't too bad.
I give myself some visual goals to run up to. I've found that 90 seconds is about the distance of running past 7 to 8 homes for me. So, I count ahead and tell myself that's where I need to get to. Of course the C25K app on my itouch is WONDERFUL!!!!

I realized I have been following the C25K program wrong. I have been running for a total of 7 days for weeks 1 & 2. For example my days are Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday and I have been doing these days up until the next Sunday and then moving on to week 2 doing the same thing. According, to the schedule I should be doing only three days a week ie..sun,tue, thur and then move on to week 2. I also noticed that workout (1) is for day 1 and workout (2) is for day 2 and workout day (3) is for day 3. I was wondering why I feel like I can run a longer but wanted to stick to the program. I also see people are only doing three days a week and moving on to the next week which I now know is the correct way. So, I am happy to say I will officially be moving to week 3 come this Sunday so wish me luck my spark friends.

Completed Week 2 Day 1 on Tuesday! Planning on tackling Day 2 on Friday and Day 3 on Sunday with a Zumba day Saturday just to mix things up a bit!
