I am officially on WK2!!! I did day one today...and I live in the foothills. So unless I run on a treadmill, which would mean I'd have to join a gym, much of my run/walk is uphill. I find now that the even road is fine, I could probably run more, but uphill?!? Man oh man....But, I made it.
How about everyone else? Are you experiencing the same?
Also, I am having issues with my knees....only when i try to sit or stand up from low places...like the car and uh, well, you get the idea.
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone else was having this issue?
Today was a beautiful day, I am visiting my BF in Western South Carolina...GORGEOUS! And tomorrow I have to go back to snow and cold across the mountain.
But, spring is coming....yes it is!

Hi everyone.. I was sooo looking forward to W2D1 today butr I worked past lunch and developed a gas pain that had me doubled over in spite of hot tea.

I will either do it tomorrow somehow or I will start MWF instead of my current FMW. I did W1D1 on a Friday... I simply could not wait, lol

Hi my name is Lin. Time zone GMT-5
The plan is to do Zumba at least 2-3 times per week and TRX or other hour long workout once per week.... (or 2 half hour workouts). Total goal 500-1000 fitness minutes weekly.

BUT i injured my knee so I have to learn to do some chair exercises. Please ask me if I started yet.... cuz I probably didnt.

hey! i just finished W2D2. i love it so far. I think what i love about this program is that is based off of time (well...for now anyways). thats probably why i've always hated running in the past. is that the distance just seems so impossible. but these intervals are just so do-able and stretch me just enough to where i think i'm gonna die, and then the walks give me the perfect amount of rest for the next interval. i just hope i dont get too intimidated by future weeks. its super encouraging to see how great everyone else is doing! i havent tried tracking my distance so far...i'm afraid it'll reveal how slow i actually AM going. :)

Hi SEEMANTI Welcome to our group. Normally I do extra walking after my run, today I didn't feel I had time for that so I did measure my distance (I walk/run outside) and today I'm at W2D2 of the program. I was at 1.9 miles just doing this particular podcast. You are not going to slow, unless it's too slow for you. You are the only one that can make that decision. I know that I'm not going to slow because when I was done today I thought I was going to die. I couldn't have pushed myself further, and that's the idea. This program is completely for you, you make your rules. I'm in week 2 now, but I know that I'm most likely going to have to repeat it. I will make it to running a full 5K by late this summer, but I will do it on my pace. I'm also someone who has never been a runner. I long for it as well, but as someone whose really started as kind of a couch potato, I know that it is ok to go at my pace as long as I keep going. Good Job on getting to where you are, and keep up the great work! We'll get there, we just have to focus on the trophy at the end! emoticon

I just joined Sparkpeople today. I love it already. Today I completed on W2D2 of the couch to 5K prog.I have never been a runner, but I long to run.I did my first 5K race on Feb14, as a charity race, and realized how difficult it was to hit the finish line.Even though I completed the race, it was a walk and run combo and boy I could barely move for the next couple of days as I was so sore.I have promised myself to not let this happen again and be able to run a full 5K.
I have been completing an average of 2.1miles during the first and the second week of the couch to 5k. Has anybody tracked the distance? I am not sure if I am going too slow? I would appreciate some discussion!

Today was supposed to be W2D2 of C25K, but I was held over at work for an hour, and it took extra time to drive home (it hasn't stopped snowing since I got up this morning) and by the time I did get home, it was mostly dark outside. I wish I had a treadmill for a situation like today, but I don't. So, today i will not complete my run, I will still do a walk with a Leslie Sansone video at home, and hopefully tomorrow I will be able to continue my progress. I'm sad, but oh well. I guess this is life in Michigan during February. My husband says I should have waited a month or two to get started, but I disagree, if I didn't start then, I would have continued to put it off, and never started.

I made it through week 1 fine and today was W2D1. I did good except for the last two jogs. I had to go a minute instead of 90 seconds. But hey... there's always next week!

Doctor says it's fine if I feel ok. Luckily, I'm in the medical field, reasearched my symptoms and went in early! As my Dr. said, it is the earliest case he has ever diagnosed--had the the burning skin feeling for 1 week, saw 3 little bumps on Monday and I went in and got started on meds that day. Hopefully that means I heal up quickly. Thanks for the well wishes - I hope this doesn't derail me!

MOM2MIKEY - I wear Skechers Delites for work and love them. I never thought of them as running shoes though. I wear New Balance for my workouts.

You are right, same amount of running, just split up. I tend to think that the longer runs are better because you can get into a good rhythm and zone out.

RESYRING - ask your doctor if you can continue your workouts with shingles. I know that it can be painful and you don't want to extend your healing time just for your workout! Take good care of yourself and don't push it too much right now.

Thanks for the kind words Kim and Trish. I did W2D3 this morning and made it through. Going to try to move to week 3 on Thursday - the reality is, its still 9 minutes of running - just split up differently, right!?! I was just diagnosed with shingles - ugh - not supposed to happen in a young healthy person, alas. I will keep running and make it through. Here's to a speedy recovery!

5:45 a.m. and I just finished W2D2 :)... now to get on with my day.

I didn't find this time around much easier than W2D1 so we will have to see what the next workout brings before deciding if I need to do stay here a couple more times before moving on to week 3. Either way its all good as I'm getting some great workouts in.

I continue to run at 5.5mph and walk at 3.5mph.

On the shoe front, I've never been fitted but from reading here it sounds like a great idea. I have generally bought good running shoes each time I try to workout (running, walking, eliptical...etc.) and this time I feel like I hit the jackpot in that the shoes I got just seem to be perfect for my foot and body. This time around I ended up getting Sketcher Delites and I love them and have had no bottom of my foot pain (which is common for me).

Thanks for the good idea Kym, I would do that if I could, but I have very unique feet, and therefore I truly do need shoes that are fitted for me. I wear orthodics and have very wide feet. When I can get to a good shoe store I'm going to get fitted, and then look online for the shoes I know will work for me at a lower price.

Great News Joan!! Good for you! I still have NO idea how in the world my 254+ lbs body is running, but it is, so I'll take it! What about looking on craigslist or ebay for some reasonable priced sneakers until you have the extra $? just a suggestion. I know we are struggling right now too, as is most of the world, but hiking boots really can't be good for you! :-) Thinking of you!

I can't believe I did it! I just finished W2D1! 2 months ago, I never could have imagined myself running, and even though in the big scheme of things it is a small step, right now in my brain it is a huge win! and I can't wait for W2D2 on Wednesday. I have never been able to run, I can't believe I'm running! emoticon I still need to get shoes at some point, as I stated before, I can't imagine that running in hiking boots is very good for me. But they are what I have and I can't afford anything else right now. WooHoo! for everyone in Week 2 right now! emoticon

I wasn't sure that I was going to be able to go today because we had a gigantic snow storm come through Michigan over the last 24 hours. Then I remembered a nice paved bike/walking trail nearby and I drove over and walked/ran my way down that. I was super glad I remembered that they plow that trail, it will be a big help over the next several weeks til Spring comes!

RESYRING - don't be discouraged. Many people repeat days or even whole weeks. Listen to your body, it will tell you the best plan of action. Sounds like you made the right decision to try D3 again. You CAN do it!!!!!

Thanks for the motivation - I wasn't feeling the best yesterday but tried W2D3 last night - it didn't happen and I was majorly bummed out. Realizing I was sick and had worked all day and was exhausted, I'm going to try it again tomorrow and see if I can move onto week 3. Major bummer - I was making good progress.

W2D3 DONE (again!) I felt that I had to complete day 3 again and feel confident in it before I am able to move on. So today went well. that 90 sec. is still kicking my butt, but I guess the whole point of this is work through it right?? So off to week 3 I go! Not until Wed though (bummer) Tomorrow hubby is working until 9pm, and my boys don't handle the child care at the gym well. Tuesday is our parent group meeting at Caden's school, so I'll have to wait until Wed to see if my butt is REALLY going to get kicked or not!

Keep up the great work on week 2 guys, you can do it! And remember that it's OK to repeat a day if you need too, I am SO glad I did day 3 once more!

See you over at Week 3!

I did W2D1 yesterday. My husband was called into work and that leaves my son with me while I do my run. I wasn't sure if I'd be able to do my run while pushing the stroller, but it went just fine. I guess I have determination on my side!

Wow Kym on completing week 2 already. I got held up with not feeling well for a couple of days and just did W2D1 today. It was harder than week one for sure but I managed to get through. I'm figuring I will be on week 2 through to the end of this week at least as I'm thinking Tuesday and Thursday for my next 2 workouts and then perhaps an extra one as the 3 minutes of running is intimidating for me too.

Completed Day 3 last night, but it wasn't easy. I wasn't feeling well but was still determined to get through it. I did, but with some major leg/knee pain and huge exhaustion. I probably shouldn't have kept going, but needed to for me. Becuase yesterday so hard, I am not going to move on the Week 3 tomorrow, I am going to go back and complete Day 3 the correct way. My body and mind deserve that. I am still very short on breath at the end of the 90 sec. anyone else like that?? I am having a HECK of a time wrapping my head around having to run for 3 entire mintues! it's all mental I know, I know!

whoo hoo! Done with week 2. Did W2D3 today, used the inhaler for the asthma and it really helped. Much easier to breath and no wheezing. Now to deal with the mental part of the program....I seem to be counting the seconds till the run portion is over.

Great job to you all! You are really pressing on :) See you in week 3.

I just finished Week 1. Will move on to w2d1 on Sunday. I am excited. I did 5 days of week 1 because of arthritic knee. I am hopeful that week 2 will come easier for me.

I did w2d1 last night and it was rough. I'm glad they upped the rest time between runs, : ) I'm looking forward to warmer weather because running in the cold just makes it harder! (I won't be saying this when it gets into the 90s with 100% humidity and swarms of blood-hungry mosquitos.)

YEAH! i finished Week 2!!!!! I can't believe it..and am so proud of myself! Yes, i'm nervous for Week 3, which I'll start on Sunday, but I'm excited too. I can't imagine how I'm gonna do 3 minutes, but I couldn't have imagined doing 90 seconds!

I had a very hard day at work but I told myself that I'd do it, and so I came home and just hopped on the treadmill. It was easier than day 2 for sure and I was back up to my regular pace. I'm feeling good!

I did it--finished W2D2--it was pretty darned hard but I pushed through. Major calf cramp started on run 3. Like everyone else, I'm worried about W3 and the 3 min run! But last week, W1D2 was hard and D3 was much easier. Need to be up on my water before running - I'm pretty sure that is contributing to cramping. Good job everyone - we will get through W2 and onto week 3! emoticon

Thanks for the encouragement Kym. I did it!! I was alternating thoughts as I was running. One was, "I can do this!" And the other one was, "How the bleep am I going to run for 3 minutes next week??!!" Lol. I'll try doing my best!!

KYMMC3, I'm also dreading week 3! It scares me!! I was supposed to do W2D2 yesterday and I kept putting if off until it was too late to do. I think I have a mental block about finishing this week because then I have to start week 3. I WILL do day 2 today. I'll report back later.

Great Job everyone! I just completed W2D2 tonight. It like day 2 last week, was much harder then day 1, I wonder why that is? Then I had NO probem with 3 last week, hopefully this week will prove the same. I am quite worried about week 3, but I guess I need to get through this first. I thank god for those podcasts, I could never do that AND have to watch the timer at the same time! Keep up the great work everyone!

coupedegrace, GREAT JOB!

I just love the Ullrey podcasts. I completely hated counting the seconds. I still sorta keep an eye on them, but can also relax when I have to push through :)

Keep going!!

great job coupdegrace!

I just finished W2D2 but had trouble...is anyone else here dealing with exersize induced asthma? I have been doing fine, a little trouble W1D3 and W2D1 but today was hard. I may end up getting an inhaler for running emoticon BUT I am determined to not give running up!

any advice anyone?

just got back from completing W2D1 at the gym and had a great time. I used Robert Ullrey's podcast for the first time and it was great not having to deal with counting down the seconds on the treadmill timer. I also LOVED the fact that I didn't know how long it had been, so instead of feeling like I was only halfway done, I just relaxed and ran until I heard my cue to stop.

Hope everyone has a productive day!

Yes, Princsstrish, it is the DOING it that counts, especially when you don't want to, or are tired, or any other reason we try to use to not do.
WAY TO GO! :)

Thank you KYMMC!!!

It was truly hard. The hardest day yet.

You can do it tomorrow. I was NOT looking forward to D2 either, but now it's over, I can't believe it!!! Hopefully I'll feel better on Thursday and can go back to my normal pace again :)

Good luck tomorrow! Tell us all about it!

I did W2D2 today. I slowed my pace down since I was tired today and I was so grumpy getting on that treadmill. I REALLY didn't want to do it today. Busy day at work, hungry, just was not looking forward to it.

But with hubby's persuasion, i got on and did the full program. I walked at 3 and ran at 4, which is slower than usual, but it was what I could do and I did it!

I finished W2D2!!!

W2D1 was in progress, but I'll have to pick it up again tonight or tomorrow. For some very silly reason I decided to wear my sauna suit while doing today's training, I got through the first 8 minutes of the alternating sets after the 5 minute walk and just got entire too uncomfortable.

I'm not going to consider it a major setback though. I must've been off my rocker this morning.

Felt pretty good, but could use some good shoes. Hopefully I'll be getting some soon.
