Why don't we just head on over to Australia -- any miles today can be logged there. It sounds like everybody is ok with that!! I'm done with the cold...If Jenny and Healthy want to log in both places to say "I did it" that is great too!!

I'm kind of looking forward to a good glass of virtual Australian wine! If I could make it work in my calorie count I would be having a bottle today emoticon

It hasn't been a bad day just a stressful one!!

Ok...I'm going over to the other walk...I will finish there....

Cheers to all of us!!

Kim emoticon

jenny - those dryers sure do love to call our names, don't they... for me i have a love/hate relationship with my dryer. i love to put clothes in it, but HATE to fold laudry and put it away - with kids each load is like 50 articles of clothing! on many days of the week you will see piles of clean clothes around my bedroom, just calling out to be put away!
i did a class today (and i am in for some serious pain tomorrow - the instructor is a monster, in the very best way!), and 45 minutes on the elliptical, and walked 4 miles, so i am pooped!
i am now officially down 67 pounds, and am really hoping to hit the 70 lb down mark next monday, but i worry that the weekend will get me! we are going shopping, out to dinner, and hubby is planning on cooking 2 fancy-schmancy dinners for us, so it will calorie frenzy... lets all hope i've done enough exercise with weekend to make up for all the eating i'm going to do!

Great job getting to 140-ville!! I haven't been there since my 20's, and I'll be 41 in a few weeks!!

You're all back!! Yea!

I just posted the Australian Virtual Walk. We can either start tomorrow and give Healthy and Jenny some honorary miles or wait until both of you are finished!! Either way it really doesn't matter...just thought you might want to get out of the cold in New York!!

I did my 5 miles this morning and guess what... I hit 140-ville for real!! (I was there yesterday but thought it was a fluke) I was 149.5!!! Haven't been there in years!! woo hoo!

Funny about the age thing...50's not old...but I remember being 32 it did seem old just like 70 seems old to now. That's ok Anika you will see...life is not as much of a roller coaster in your 40's (or maybe because you can't see as well and move a little slower it doesn't seem as much like a roller coaster ;-))))) can't speak for 50 yet I have 5 more years!

Jenny - I'm so happy you are feeling better!! 3.5 miles is great!! Housework and laundry???? yuk!!!
Have fun! I bet your girls are happy they have their real mommy back....

Anika - I'm exhausted...I just read your post and all the things you did yesterday and today..you had to muster up the energy?? no wonder..... I also see your ticker has gone down some...please do share with us!!!

Ok.....I better get back to work!!

Have a great evening girls!!
Kim
p.s. I just heard there is a great new movie coming out called Australia. Maybe we should try to see in the next few weeks..it might inspire our walks!

healthy - i have no doubt that some days you look younger than me, as i race out of the house all frazzled & haggard ready to go bonkers because the kids won't get ready fast enough!
i managed to briskly walk another 3 miles today, which means that i moved for 10 miles today!
jenny - great to see you back! good for you for jumping right back into the ring! keep going and i have no doubt you will be back in perfect form in a matter of days!
goodnight girls!

No, never. My girlfriend couldn't offend me! Anika, I found it funny and just HAD to chime in. I know how you feel! I wouldn't want to feel 70 now. I can't believe I'm in my 50's and thanks to my grandmother's perfect skin (no wrinkles on her face in her 80's) and bottles of hair dye, I look a lot younger than I am, most days.

Jenny - 3.5 miles for your first day back is fantastic!

90/132 I'm back!! I walk almost 3.5 today and my time was really good considering I wasn't going for speed. I don't know what I had, but I haven't been that sick in years!! It felt to good to get back to it!! I've got alot of catching up to do on posts, but I have to catch up on housework and laundry first, so I wanted to thank you all for your well wishes and let you know I'm back in business and ready to kick it into gear and catch up! emoticon

so happy to see almost all of our girls back! of course we are all wishing anastasia fantastic results on her exams and hoping to 'see' her again soon!
healthy - so so so sorry if i offended you... it's not that 50 is bad, it's that you shouldn't feel that way if you're only 32!! but after my whining (sorry girls!) i did recover, and we had a great night as a family (yay that patrick is finally home, and hopefully not travelling again for at least a few weeks!). it was dark, and cold, and henry was a little bit sucky walking home the last half mile, but we made it! i'm very glad i decided to muster up the energy to jog to get nolan, because he refuses to stay bundled up in the blanket in the stroller (he's far too much of a squirmy worm, all arms and legs waving!), and he would have frozen if left out too long!
it's so funny jogging when it's so cold out - i leave the house freezing, but within 5 minutes i'm roasting under my coat, have to peel off my scarf, hat & mitts, but then because i'm all sweaty i start freezing again and have to put them back on... and it repeats the cycle again!
patrick promised me that this weekend we will look at bus schedules and getting me a (gulp) bus pass, just in case it is indeed too cold (or in case i can't talk myself into another 3 miles at the end of a long day!). but i am hoping to keep up the jogging as long as possible, because i'm terrified that i'll immediately start packing on weight again as soon as i lose that huge component of exercise in my daily routine...
today i walked 3 miles, and ellipticalled for another 3 miles. i still have to go and get nolan at 4, but i don't think i'll jog today. i'm planning on going to that exercise 'boot camp' class i went to last week tomorrow morning, and i want to be able to make it through without dying!
i will check in again tonight!
bye girls!

Hey, I thought I posted on Sunday, but it disappeared or I probably forgot to hit 'Enter' Yes!! Let's move on to Australia. We can all start there together. OK, before I forget, I walked 5 miles on Sunday and 7 jog/walked tonight on the treadmill. So ...121/132 ... I'm almost there! Anika, I tried the '6' on the treadmill just for fun and it felt GREAT running like the wind, (ha!) but I could only keep it up for a minute or two before my heart rate got out of control. I felt pretty good keeping it at nearly 5 and jogged 10 plus minutes, rested, then 10 more. For me, pretty good.

Jenny - so glad to hear you're almost back to top form. Keep in mind it may take a day or two for your muscles to warm back up into the shape they were in last week.

Kim - me too. Hate the cold weather. And it's like adding insult to injury that it gets dark so early. Anika, I'm so in awe of your mothering skills. Jogging in the rain in the dark ... with your kids?? One of these days, you'll look back in amazement that you could do all this.

Anastasia - study hard! And good luck. We'll see you in Australia!

Oh, almost forgot! Speaking of feeling 50. emoticon I resemble that remark. Whispered: *Will be 53 in 3 months* But it got me a discount on my hotel this weekend. Ha! I love it when I can get the senior citizens discounts. Too funny. I'm out of town Thursday thru Sunday and don't know if they'll have a place I can log in, so might be out of commission for a while.

Hi Ladies!

Jenny - I'm so happy you are almost back to normal....I hope your first walk back goes great! How far are you? I'm trying to figure out if we should move to Australia yet. Half marathon???????

Anika - I'm with you when it comes to winter. Ever since we moved to Washington I HATE winter! It is dark when I get up...dark when I go to bed...all the rain and clouds even make it darker. I'm so impressed that you are keeping up your exercise! I hope you get some help this winter...Close your eyes..tap your feet...spin around three times...and it will be Spring ;-)

Healthy - Hope you're doing ok!!

Have a great evening everybody!

Kim

hiya kim - and where are the rest of our girls??
i am cold, tired and content to know that despite being stressed out about the cold cold weather that has finally arrived (it snowed the past 3 days here) i have kept up with my exercise regime so far!
today i walked 5 miles, and ellipticalled for 60 minutes (which is about 3 miles i think). i still have to and pick up nolan at 5, and then stop and pick up henry on the way home (all on foot of course!), so i will be logging at least 4 more miles. i'm just trying to work up the courage (and intestinal fortitude of course!) to jog it. i worry about nolan being out in the cold any longer than necessary, and it also starts getting dark here at 5, so i don't want the kiddos to be out in the freezing dark any longer than they have to. but oh my poor aching bones! i feel like i'm 50 today... did i mention that i HATE HATE HATE winter. i wish that it snowed the week before and the week after christmas and then went immediately into spring!
i hope to hear from the rest of our lovely ladies later!
have a great day and wish me luck motivating myself to jog!!!

Hi Girls!
I betcha thought I was MIA ;-))
It's been a busy day....

I did my 5 miles this morning....it was a great workout nothing like yesterday!! Anika...there were days I could definitely hold my own with the alcohol but not anymore!! I only drink 2 glasses of Chardonnay on Friday date night with my husband because I can't incorporate it into my calorie count. I like food too much!! I have really become a lightweight..along with being only 5'1 and losing weight it does a number on me! lol!

It looks like Australia it is. When we all get to the finish line we will say farewell to New York and jet set to Australia...We can go Wine tasting everynight..(I think I will be able to handle it;-))

Healthy - Your husband does sound like a keeper. My husband is the same way about not noticing losing weight, gaining weight..etc. I have always joked if I came home with purple hair he would look at me and ask if something was different!! He says that's not what he sees. He is a great cook although since he is always at our pizza store he doesn't have much of a chance to cook anymore..except tonight and it was sure good! He doesn't have the sentimental side though! What a sweetheart to take care of his mom..we are going through the same thing with John's mom. She is 86 too. She was perfectly fine until August when she had a stroke and it took her mind. We tried to keep her in her own home but she kept wanting to go home even though she was there. She went hysterical and we had to put her in a home. She seems to be content though. She really doesn't know who any of us are though...We will see her for Thanksgiving in a couple of weeks. She lives in So. Cal.

Anika...there are marriages that do work. It is a lot of work especially when there are kids. My husband and I will be married 15 years on New Years Eve. There are ups and downs but in the end it is good. My husbands parents were married just a month shy of 60 years when my father-in-law passed away and my mom and dad were married 35 years when my dad passed away. What I learned is they didn't give up when it wasn't perfect or go astray. They trusted each other...and in the case of my parents there was always humor.

I'm so glad we have helped you not throw in the towel!! Next time you are trudging through the snow or freezing your buns off we will be those little voices telling you to keep going......;-)and the kind words were warranted!!

Jenny - I hope you are feeling better today! Did you get caught up on some good movies? I'm sure you are probably going stir crazy and ready to get back to a normal routine.
Take care of yourself!!

I got on the scale yesterday morning and this morning and the scale said 150.8! I'm almost to my next 10 lb goal! I can't believe it!

I just want to thank all of you because it is days like yesterday's workout that I could have easily skipped my workout....but I didn't...I had 3 little voices cheering me on!!

Here's to a great week!!!

Kim 120/132

oh, and how could i forget! i need to give you all a thank you, because your kind words about my parenting really REALLY touched me. i often feel a lot of guilt, because i can't do all that i would like for my kids due to financial and physical (no driving!!) limitations. so i can't say enough how much it means to me to get such high praise from people that i respect so much! you girls are life savers! and i really and truly believe that i have you all to thank for my weight loss successes. i would have thrown in the towel (yet again!) if it weren't for all of the encouragement and motivation you girls provide each and every day!
so yay for our spark friends!!!

healthy - i think you did a fantastic job describing what makes your hubby so special... i haven't even seen him and i'm smitten! i am always so amazed by couples who have been together for a long time and still haven't forgetten why they love each other, and never stop appreciating each other. i have had no good role models in my life relationship-wise (i never knew my father, and my mother has been divorced more times than i can count, and my in-laws are still married but don't even like each other), so i always worried that there was no such thing as enduring love. that somehow the marriages that did work were only out of convenience, and that the love always faded away. so you have given me hope! so feel free to tell your husband that he sounds like an amazingly wonderful man, worthy of my friend healthy!
jenny - i'm so sorry that you're sick, and worst still that your hubby has to work. i firmly believe that having to care for kiddos when you're sick is one of the hardest things in the world to do. the last 2 times i got sick it progressed to pneumonia, because there was no time to rest and heal with all the parenting duties that need attending to. so please rest, take care of you so that you can take care of your lovely girls! i'm sending you healthy germ-killing vibes and well-wishes - can you feel them?
kim - only 2 glasses?! you are a lightweight! i wouldn't even feel a warm glow with 2 glasses of wine! i'm (unfortunately) a whole bottle before i feel warm & fuzzy kind of girl! partly because i'm so physically big (5'11'' & 225 lb is man-sized!), and also because i was an olympic caliber partier in university, and my liver is still recovering!
patrick (my fella) designs changeparts for the packaging industry (every bottle/container made needs it's own custom set of parts to pass through fillers, cappers & labellers). so almost all of his customers are in the states, and someone has to go and measure every machine for every custom job. normally he says no to too much travelling, but with christmas coming i've given him the nudge to accept whatever overtime he can get so that we will have more money for gifts (did i mention that i am the biggest kid of all at holiday time?!). so we cope. right now i'm sucky - it's gross cold weather, so i didn't get any cardio yesterday (other than some functional cleaning up the deck exercise), and today will be a rest and try to keep the kids from driving me crazy day... so wish me luck to not eat my face off with boredom!

Kim,
That looks awesome! I was afraid this Long Island walk might be too much for us, but here we are nearing the end of it. So, 124 miles should give us lots of time to chat. And I've always wanted to go to Australia.

I didn't walk today, but will tomorrow. Glad to hear the soup is working, Jenny, but being sick isn't the best way to lose weight. However, if you gotta be sick, might as well get some benefits, right?

Now I'm afraid I've built him up a bit much, but he's perfect for me! My DH is such a man's man - tough and silent most times, but very observant. Surprises me by noticing small things. He's not effusive with compliments, but likes me just the way I am. Whether I've got long hair or short. A lot of extra pounds or not many at all. I used to be a bit miffed when he didn't notice how much weight I'd lost once, but then realized he didn't 'notice' when I gained it either. He's happy most of the time and can never hold a grudge. He's an independent thinker and doesn't mind sharing his unconventional views. But he also likes to wash dishes and cook! He's super supportive of me, especially when someone appears to be threatening me. But he's not a jealous type. That's nice because I have a lot of different friends. We're both independent souls and very different from each other, but a great match together. When we first started dating, he brought me a gift every month to celebrate the day we met, so we still celebrate 2 anniversaries: The day we met and the day we married. I feel like I'm not doing a good job describing him, just scratching the surface.

Oh, and he's earning his angel wings - spending a year with his mom in Texas. She's 86, nearly blind and needs help getting around. She's able to stay in her home because he helps her with everything and allows her to keep her dignity. Her health has improved tremendously, her spirits are high, her diet is good and her sense of humor has returned. Rather than 24 hour care-giving, she now has him plus a nurse and a caregiver just in the mornings. He's not a doting son and has just 'tolerated' her in the past, but I'm so proud of him and just enjoy watching him take care of her, cook for her, and find things for her to do to keep her busy and feeling useful. He manages businesses in Texas, so used to spend half his time there anyway, but never got involved with her care, so this is really different. I miss him, since I'm holding down the fort, so to speak, in California, but get down there every now and then. And I love his mom to pieces, so I'm glad she's in good hands. We'll get back to a 'normal' life sometime next year. We're hoping one of his sisters steps in to follow up with her care. She's just not yet ready for a nursing home, IMHO.

Hi Girls!!

Ok....I did some research to come up with a trail for our next walk....The most famous trail is called the Heysen trail. It is 1200 km (740 miles). I thought it might be fun to do part of it maybe about 200 km (124 miles) we could do the part through the Wineries. That way we could rest at night and do some taste testing!

It is summer in Australia so they do shut down some of the trail due to fire hazards but I think we can maneuver around. At least for me and Anika we will get some warm weather and sunshine!! This link is at the bottom....

What do you think?

I did my 5 miles this morning....I want you to know I heard every one of your voices telling me to keep going you're almost there!!! I can't say it was my best workout but I did it! Do you think it could be the 2 glasses (yes only 2) of wine I drank last night? If so I'm really becoming a true lightweight...awe..to be 21 again...but than again I think I will stay 45!!

Jenny -- Down 2 pounds?? Yea! All the walking is paying off.....woo hoo!!! It's never fun to be sick with little ones. I hope your girls are good at entertaining themselves....boys aren't very good at that at their age. I hope you have carved a great place on the couch and are getting caught up on some good movies!

Hope you feel better!!

Healthy - Can't wait till you stop by and say hi!! Hope your day is going well!

Anika - Stop by and say hi - even if you can only post a hi!

I know me, I will probably stop by later to check on you guys!! I'm off to explore Australia for our next walk!!

Healthy- thanks for the soup! I think it was magic soup because I was down 2 pounds today! i can't wait to hear about your hubby!

Kim- you look awesome!!

Anika- I can't believe how much your hubby travels!! What doesn he do?

Really, I can't believe how much all of you travel! My last trip was in June, and that was more then enough for me!

I'm still sick. The last time I was this bad was July 2007! I remember because my sister was in town and I couldn't see her. DH is working today. He was home with the girls yesterday, so that was a help. Today, I think they will spend lots of time watching movies and playing with play-doh. I don't plan on moving from my spot on the couch...

Hi Girls,

My posting I did last night that turned into this morning because the website was down posted twice??? oh well.....

I did my 5 miles this morning..it was warmer here today 58 degrees (14 degrees for you Anika) but raining. I'm freezing. My blood must be really thin!! I can't wait until Thanksgiving down in Southern Cal so I can thaw out for a week!!

Jenny - Sorry you are not feeling well...I hope you will have time to rest over the weekend. Colds are never fun...knock on wood...I haven't had one in a long while. Take care of yourself....what a nice mom to make you soup..even if she didn't want to be around you ;-)) I'm sure Healthy's soup will help too!

Healthy - How did your walk go? Did you get to hike on "your" mountain ;-) Are you back to your routine since being away? Also, we need the scoop on your keeper husband. We girls like to know.....

I hope people are happy to see me when I come...but more importantly I hope they buy from me!!! I work for a great company and have been in the industry since 1994 when my oldest son was born.

Anika - thanks for stopping by to say hi! Hopefully you will have a half a minute to come back and let us know how your day was. I know you are heading into the weekend and it will be doublely (is that a word??) busy with your husband gone again.

I promise I will look up a walk in Australia this weekend! I felt lost last night not being able to be on Spark. I also volunteered to be the captain of a team within a team challenge I am doing so I have to catch up there too.

I got on the scale this morning and it said 151.8 ?!?! OMG I might hit 140-ville soon! I won't know what to do. I posted my monthly picture and blog on my SparkPage if anybody is interested...

TGIF!! Have a great weekend girlie girls!!

So true! I've moved from north to south before and it's amazing how quickly your blood thins out and you become a wimp about the cold! Sooo sorry you're under the weather. Just tuck yourself under the comforter and snooze or watch a good movie. We'll all be here when you're feeling better! I make a great pumpkin-turkey soup (recipe courtesy of my husband), so I'm sending you some!

I almost feel guilty writing b4 taking my walk. But just wanted to chat. Hey Anika, that's me giving you a big hug as you walk by me to pick up Jenny! I Love taking the bus when I'm out of town. Frees me up to watch the scenery. And I bet the kids will see it as an adventure. Much more fun than taking a car. And you get to sit up higher where you can see things. Games like Count all the blue houses you see or all the red cars, etc., are much more fun for a mommy when she doesn't have to watch out for traffic. You know what? I've been wanting to check out our local bus schedules and see where I could go without my car, so I'm going to set a goal to ride our bus soon, too. I'm there with you!

Kim, you are such a doll keeping us all going. I completely understand your being a sales rep. Your clients probably smile when you walk in the door, glad to see you. A perfect role for you.

Well, I hope to clock in later with a few more than 2 miles. And I appreciate you Kim for making me feel a little better about my paltry rushed miles. Later, girlfriends!

Oh my friends, I have a cold. I am so miserable!! I've got a fever and my throat hurts. My Mom brought chicken soup, but did a ring and run so she wouldn't get sick! LOL!

Needless to say, no miles today.

Anika, nothings wrong with the bus. Its there to help with transportation! Use it when you need it!! Now, lets talk about 65 degrees, We Floridians would be wearing gloves and scarfs!! I remember my first year down here, seeing people with winter jackets and scarfs and mittens at 65 degrees and thinking they were nuts! Now I'm one of them. Its 79 today and I'm wrapped in a fuzzy blanket, freezing!!

Hi Girls!

Today is my rest day and I am taking full advantage (at least exercise wise). Work was really busy!

Jenny - Good job on doing your miles today. Did you have fun walking with Anika? She looped back to get you. Like I said I was enjoying the scenery from inside the stores in New York ;-)

Anika - I looked it up and 18 is 65 degrees F. That is a perfect day! Not to hot...not to cold and if the sun is out all the better! Great job on your workout too!

I admire you for being the type of person who figures out a way to get it done. You are a poster child for Nike's Just Do It! mantra. Do you have any idea how many people would never do what you do? They would have a big pity party everyday for themselves about how hard life is for them...how unfair it is they have an autistic son, how their son needs therapy, but they can't get it for him because god forbid they would walk to an appointment, how he really needs special food but it's too hard and expensive to prepare....the result they would do none of it...'you on the other hand look at all the positives that go along with all those things...walking to appt.hmm..more miles to log...autistic son...hmm...the incredible joy he brings to you...cooking special food...(don't know about that one but you just do it!! wow...Nolan and Henry are truly lucky kids to have a mom like you!

Go figure out the bus route! Don't be ashamed...just think of the lesson you are teaching your kids about figuring out how to with what you have, instead of what you donít have.

I firmly believe what goes around comes around. You will have the means to get a car one day and many other "things" that you might wish for now...but you will look back at this time and it will be special.

You will also have two children that are thriving and have learned the lessons in life they will need to be successful.....

That is a legacy....

Kim

hi girls! i am so excited to announce that it is yet another AMAZING fall day here... i was scared 2 weeks ago when it turned into winter overnight, but thankfully it has turned back into early fall-like weather. it is 18 today (no idea what that is for you yankeroos!), which to me is perfect - not too hot, but can easily walk around in pants and a t-shirt... i am greatly indebted to mother nature for keeping me from going crazy. as soon as it gets cold (which i have no doubt will be soon, it is november after all!) i am not at all sure how i am going to manage nolan's (and mine of course!) schedule. this weekend my husband is away (AGAIN!!), so i'm going to try and look up the public bus routes. and i am not ashamed to admit that i am going to have to swallow my pride quite a bit. i normally would have associated taking the bus at 32 to being pretty pathetic. but finances are not great for us, so we could never afford a second car (let alone the driving lessons i will need - i have no idea how to drive!).
i will definately need all the moral support i can get once the winter hits!
but for now i am enjoying the gorgeous weather, and kicking my own butt! today i did a class at the gym for the first time - it was hard, but i really thought that i would have a harder time (all the other girls were skinny and fit looking, but i definately held my own!). it was only 45 min so i did 45 on the elliptical and weight machines after that. i also walked (in the gorgeous sunshine!) to and from the gym, so i'm sure i racked up at least 5 miles. but i'm looping back to get my good friend jenny!
patrick (my husband) comes home tonight for only 2 sleeps, and then he's off again saturday morning, so i may not be able to post tomorrow... but i will be of course thinking of you girls and gaining strength and inspiration!
have a great day girls!

Hi Girls,

I did my 5 miles today and I have to say I am looking forward to my rest day tomorrow!

Healthy - I understand about life intervening..Hope everything is ok...and what do you mean just 2 miles???? I bet you wouldn't have said that a few months ago unless you have always been an exerciser!
Your at 99.5 miles!!!

Jenny - I ditto what you said a about Anika - I'm exhausted just reading everything she does.
We're exercising machines aren't we!! Who'd of thought a few months ago???

Anika - We do call Wednesday hump day so we're on the same page even if we are from different countries!! I'm in outside sales for a company called Paychex (like ADP if you have ever heard of them). I sell payroll services to medium and large businesses and since I am now in the Pacific Northwest my territory is much more spread out than Orange County, CA. This is our crazy busy time of year. From now until Christmas I don't come up for air!!

Ok....I can't say I ever exercise to tears unless I am really hurt...you're amazing! Great job on your workout! With that intensity you will be having great weigh in!!! Keep it up girl!

I hope you get some help getting the kids to their activities now that it is getting cold. Wish you were closer I would drive you!!!!

We are all fairly close to each in miles! We should each give ourselves a high five ;-)I will soon look up the Austrialian walk...just haven't had time or the energy...

It's 10:30 and I'm tired...even though I don't have to get up early to exercise it is my early morning for work...So I will be up at 5:30am...wow...I get to sleep in by 1/2 hour..

Goodnight my girlfriends!! Sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite!!

Kim

Anika, I must say, I don't know how you do it all! If I had to walk 3 miles to the gym, I'd walk to the gym, hang out in the sauna or something and walk home!! Do you ever sleep? Or maybe the days are longer in Canada! I'd need a week to do everything you do in a day. I must say that I'm more then a bit annoyed at your parents or in-laws or whoever stopped driving Nolan to therapy, but I an so proud of you for being an uber Mom and taking such good care of your kids!!

Honestly ladies, you are all exercising machines!! We are soooo going to be on the cover of People for losing a ton of weight. Maybe they'll take the photo while we're walking somewhere amazing! emoticon

happy hump day girls (do you use that term in the states?)!
i'm checking in miday to toot my own horn...
i had to work this morning, and 2 of the babies were having a grumpy day, so the 3 hours felt like 10. i was doing some pretty great negative self-talk, trying to convince myself that i didn't need to work out, that i should go home and sleep instead. but actually being at the gym (and having lugged all my gym stuff with me on my back!) was too much of a motivator. then i decided that i would do a really easy workout, because i was feeling tired, sore and hungry. but because all of the elliptical machines were taken, i had no choice but to hop on a treadmill. so then as i was warming up at 4.0 miles an hour, i thought - why don't i do a shorter but more intense workout, that way i still get to go home earlier than normal? so i am happy (and quite proud if i do say so myself) that i did 40 minutes of jogging at 6.0 (i almost barfed, that's how hard it is for me!). i couldn't do it all in one shot, but i jogged for 25 minutes (and i'm not ashamed to admit that there were tears!), then walked for 3 minutes, then jogged another 5 minutes, then another 3 minutes of walking and then i finished with another 10 minutes straight of jogging at 6.0. so less than half the time i normally work out, but at a WAYYYYYYYYYYYY more difficult intensity.
once again i was reminded of how much of a motivator you girls are (despite being spread all over the continent!)... it was the shame of having to post that i lazed out of working out that motivated me to get my lardy butt on the treadmill! so yay for you all and yay for me!
i also walked 3 miles to get to and from the gym.
jenny - just thinking of you and how hard you are pushing it, continually upping your intensity and duration is a constant source of inspiration for me! so please keep it up (as i have no doubt you will) because you are keeping me going too!
kim (or should i say lynn??) - how great for you to need new clothes - any excuse to shop is a good one! and i think it's great that you only bought 2 new pairs of pants, because you will need a new size in a no time! what is it that you do to need to travel so much?
healthy - thanks for the kind words! the mental pictures of nolan at his great moments are what keep me sane when we are having the (much!) more difficult times! and i'm looking forward to hearing your story of why your husband is such a keeper!
i still have to go get nolan after therapy, and then pick up henry, so i will have more miles to log later!
'see' you all later,
anika
oops - i forgot where i'm at mileage-wise... i'll have to read back to my previous posts!

Hi Girls,

Today was a busy day....had appointments in Eugene (2-1/2 hours South of me) and didn't get home till about 8:00pm..ok...I have to admit I did stop at the outlet malls and do a little shopping ;-) This was after I went to get dressed this morning and almost every pair of pants I own are huge on me!! A good problem unless you have appointments with clients!!
So what's a girl to do??? go shopping!!! I only bought 2 pair of pants but it was fun trying on lots of clothes and at least thinking I look half way good in them :-p

I did 5 miles this morning and hit the 100 mile mark for our walk. woo hoo!! I will look up some of the places in Australia that were in the posts and try and find our next walk.

Anika -- Welcome back!! It sounds like you had a wonderful Halloween with Nolan and Henry and wow...Nolan sounds like he is doing great!! I love the fact that he wanted to go "in" the houses. I'm happy to hear mother nature cooperated with you it rained here.....
Congrats on not gaining even though it has been challenging.....60 lbs lost is amazing and so is the amount of exercise you have been doing...have a great day tomorrow! I know it will be challenging but remember you have 3 friends that are cheering you on.......

Healthy -- I thought the Lynn thing was funny..trust me I have been called a lot of things and answer to a lot worse ;-)))))England sounds great for our walk after Australia (which I will get right on I might add)

Jenny -- Another 3.35 miles - you go girl!!! Have you signed up for the half marathon yet?? You must have been busy with the girls today.

I'm really tired so I'm going to sign off now and get some zzzzzzz's now.

Cheers!!! Have a great Wednesday everybody!!

Kim 100/132

emoticon I can just see Nolan, aka Buzz Lightyear, flying around the living room. I'm so glad he had a fun Halloween and Henry, too. Oh, and it's sooo good to hear from you, Anika!! I had a sneaking suspicion you were zooming past me. Yep, right there.

Australia sounds great! One day, I'd like to hike Hadrian's wall in northern England. Give me a little time to map it out, so not the next one, but it's a walk I intend to make one of these days.... And it's beautiful out there.

well what a busy bunch of girls you have all been!
we did indeed have a GREAT halloween here... it had been freezing (as in actual snow and see your breath, not florida i can't wear shorts today freezing :)) for the week before, but mother nature was so kind - it was absolutely beautiful.
i shed a serious tear when we zipped nolan into his buzz suit and he immediately started grinning and running around saying "i buzz, i can fly!!!" and pretending to fly around the living room. it was seriously one of the cutest things ever!
my little troopers insisted on doing our whole street - we live on a dead end that's only 3/4 of a mile long, but having to stop at every house with a pumpkin took us 90 minutes. both kiddos had a GREAT time, and we only had one little grump from nolan whe he realized that we weren't actually go into the houses, but just stay on in the doorway. had i let him he would gladly have gone into every house and made himself right at home!
and the great news is that we were lucky enough to collect a good amount of candy that nolan can actually have (he's gluten and dairy free)! thank goodness that gummy candies are so popular now - healthy you would have been a hit with my kiddos! we didn't get any gummy body parts, but nolan was ecstatic to discover that we did get some gummy hotdogs and hamburgers that he could eat.
i ate more candy than i should have, so i wasn't down at all, but at least i only gained just under a pound. it's frustrating to do so much cardio and work so hard all week to just throw it away on the weekend, but i'm trying to stay focused on the fact that i didn't gain any of the 60 lb lost back.
as for our next walk, i would LOVE to go to australia. it is definately on my dream list, and i have family there. my cousin just had identical twin boys 2 months ago, and she lives in gold coast, so i can virtually visit her since a real visit is unfortunately out of the question!
so i managed to drag my tired booty 7.5 miles today (just in transporting nolan to and from his therapy appointments and back and forth from the gym), even after the 90 min on the elliptical, so i am one tired mamma. that brings me to:
113.5/132
the end is in sight!
have a great night girls!

hi girls! i have tried to catch up and read all of the posts that i have missed, but every time i start i have a munchkin meltdown... hubby is away AGAIN, and nolan is having a rough patch. but i wanted to quickly say that i miss you all and am thinking of you girls every day, and that i haven't fallen off the wagon!!
i jogged for 4 miles yesterday, and did 90 minutes on the elliptical which is about 4.5 miles...
so that brings me to 106/132
i have lots more walking to do today (it's my busiest day!), so i promise that i will get the kiddos to bed and then spend time catching up with all the important stuff that i'm sure i've missed over the past few days...
'see' you all tonight!

Healthy,
I know that drive well and ewe...it is not going to be fun especially in the rain....Are you going to start about 3am??? If you had a Flintstones car you could still get some miles in you will be driving slow enough that it would take you about the same amount of time!!

emoticon

Jenny -- I'm glad we could bring back some fond memories of your dad......

Anika-- where the heck are you??? We miss you...I really needed a good laugh tonight!!! I'm sure you are going at warp speed as usual. Hopefully you have at least been able to stop by and read the posts.

Lynn??? Who's Lynn??? oh ya I forgot to tell everybody except Healthy that I changed my name today ;-)))) (just for the day though....)
Ok....I wish the sun back for you.....

Have a great evening everybody....

"see" you tomorrow!!

What a nice memory, Jenny - Dad's and bicycles. I have a morning meeting in Orange County tomorrow. I live in Ventura County and have to drive thru Los Angeles (the whole county, not just the city) --in the rain! emoticon I'm heading to bed early to prepare. The drive normally takes 1.5 to 2 hours. It will be more than 3 hours (each way) with the rain. So, even if the meeting is just an hour, it's a whole day affair, so I don't expect I'll get much cardio in tomorrow. 5 miles today - 97.5

Anika, I know it has just been a few days, but you've been missed! Just thinking about you and walking a few steps for you .... even though I imagine you're keeping up pretty well on your own.

Anastasia, are you going to take a break and vote? Wishing you clear thoughts and high grades.

Lynn, I should have enough rain here after tomorrow. Thanks for sharing! I'm ready for the sun now.

You know another thing that's kind of cool is that my Dad and I used to talk about riding our bikes across Long Island, but we never did it. Now I kind of feel like I finally made the trip!

3 more miles today: 92.5 I keep thinking I'm going to get that 10 miles in today, but that 'today' hasn't come yet. Still working on it.

Kim - thank you for the rain!! For a few days at least, we won't have to worry about the fires. And it really has cooled things off.

Jenny, your girls are darling! And that husband of yours isn't too shabby either. What cutie! Between the 2 of you, no wonder your girls are so cute.

Ok, I didn't walk today, do I still get to post? LOL! As requested, I added some pictures to my spark page. One from halloween, one from a pumpkin patch, one first day of school and one from the horse show today. I tried to download more photos from halloween, but I guess they were too big or something.

I'm going to bed now, I've got to walk in the am. I think you all passed me by while I was checking out the vineyards. Maybe I had too many samples??

You guys are too funny!!

I did my 5 miles (yes 5 not 4) today. I am up to 90/132
It is cold and rainy here today...

Healthy...I sent the rain down to you so you wouldn't forget what it looked and felt like ;-)) Glad you got home safely..I was trying to figure out what DFW stood for Dear Friend Waiting?? Dear....you fill in the blank... I just couldn't figure it out(I'm trying to stay up on all the text lingo since I have teenage boys) then it dawned on me it was just he the Airport!! Too funny....a mom moment!!

Jenny -- Good idea --just have somebody drop you off 10 miles away...there's only one problem with that...you can always call them to come pick you up!! So you need to mention that the cell phone must be left at home! lol!!!!

Anika - I am really anticipating your Halloween adventure!! You must be running at your usual Anika warp speed!

Anastasia - We still miss you even though we know your studying!! We are rooting for you and can't wait until you post and say you passed your exams!!

and girls....pictures please!!!

Have a great evening!!

89.5 with today's jog around the airport. DFW is a great airport for walking. Between A&C terminals there's a bouncy treadmill. I think they call it a people mover, but it's rubber and gives way with each step, so you can bounce along on it (as long as you don't run into anyone else!)

I wanted to walk a little more when I got home tonight, but it's RAINING here! emoticon In Southern California! We have to just stop and wonder at it. Kim, you remember.

ok.....you girls made me do it......I did 5 miles at the gym instead of my steady 4 miles....like I said you made me do it!!!! and guess what...I didn't melt!!(I sure hope some fat did though!)

Jenny -- that's too funny...that reminds me of a walk with a friend in California. We went for our usual 3 mile walk one morning, same thing is was just drizzling but at about the 2 mile mark it started hailing!!! She was 8 months pregnant and we just roared laughing...it was so funny the two of us under a tree waiting for it to stop...in a place that we would freeze if it got below 70! good memories

Post some pictures of Halloween!! I can't wait to see your girls all dressed up. Anika--you too!!

Healthy -- you are probably strolling around the airport by now or a better choice of words would be "whizzing through" the airport. Hope your flight is non eventful and you get home safe and sound.

Anika--Can't wait to hear your Halloween adventure! You can't disappoint us :-)

Well it's November 1st......can you believe it!! I have a feeling we will be bringing Anika into our Thanksgiving adventures...I guess there is always a lot to be Thankful for so that can happen anytime of year!

Did you get the hi from Anastasia yesterday on her Sparkmail message? She is at the home stretch for her exams....

Where to next walk...we still have a little ways in New York but I'm thinking warmer climate next walk?? Maybe Australia? Has anybody ever been there? I've always wanted to go....

Off to run errands...

Take care everybody,

Kim 85/132

Afternoon everyone! Halloween was fun, lots of running around, but I missed my morning walk due to rain! I was hoping to walk 3.5 miles to reach 100 for October! Ah well, close enough!

Today I wanted to walk 11 miles in prep for the 1/2 marathon. It was just spritzing when I left the house, so I decided to tough it out. By the time I was at the 7 mile mark it was pouring out and ice cold (for Florida) so I called my hubby and had him come and rescue me. So I ended the day with 7.7, not too shabby and I still have time to train, so we're all good.

I've gotta run, but I hope everyone has a great weekend!

PS- healthy- you can totally walk the 10 miles if I can! Just have someone drop you 1o miles from home! LOL!

My hubby is earning gold points washing dishes, so I can post this week. One of these days I'll tell you all about him. He's a keeper. Well, I've gone another 4 1/2 miles to round out the week. I forget how many that is in total, but I'll figure it out the next time I post. Oh, by the way, I WALKED to the grocery store and back today. Never did that before here. And I'm glad I brought my roller bag to walk the airports tomorrow. I'm packing healthy lunches - who can eat airport food these days? Anyway, I'm so glad I have you gals to keep me on the right path. Echoing what most of you have said, I wouldn't have pushed myself the extra bit without your stories and encouragement.

Hi Girlie's!!

I was really busy today and this is the first time I have had a chance to post.

My boys are getting to that stage of "you're really going to go trick or treating?". My 14 year old is definitely too old, but my 12 year old (who is taller than me...not that that is saying much I'm only 5'1) wants me to buy him a costume. Well that's not happening because I think we all know how annoying the "big kids" are when they come by ;-) and of course I never went when I was in 7th grade (but I'm not admitting it to him)

So have fun with your little ones. They grow up soooo fast. You will blink and they will be 12 and 14....It is easier in a lot of ways (especially when I read your posts) but I do miss some of the little things like trick or treating.

Take some pictures I would love to see them on your Spark pages. Especially the firefighter/cheerleader hmmm...that one sounds interesting! lol!! It must be fun to have girls!! I've never had the indecision thing with the boys...every year it was either firefighter or police man, or army man...anything with a gun or blood (and no we don't have guns or go hunting or watch terribly violent movies) it is just a boy thing......;-) We used handme down costumes for years! They were the best!

Anika -- Thank you for all the kind words...I really appreciate them and needed them today.

While were on the sentimental note...this team is special. This weight loss journey is such a personal one. I read a blog last week that felt like the writer went into my head and pulled out the words. Have you ever picked up a greeting card that was like that?? One of the things she said hit home so hard.....She was talking about losing weight for the umpteenth time and feeling like all of her friends and family (that don't have weight problems) were thinking here she goes again...I feel like that all the time...as I read all of our posts and it truly seems different for all of us this time.

Anika...so many of your posts say previous times you would have just done this but didn't because of Spark and this team...and all in between your extremely busy life!

Jenny - You are doing amazing with your walking..to have the motivation to walk 10 miles by yourself...you're going on a cruise and looking forward to the gym..that is amazing in itself..thank you for letting us share it with you. oh..by the way...you are a hot firefighters wife..have you looked in the mirror lately?? You're beautiful!...

Healthy - You're walking in airports, going on vacation, finding places to walk while your on vacation and still coming to this site to keep in touch with your new friends who really care and miss you...

Weightloss buddies forever...but this time we will prove everybody wrong but we will do it for ourselves not them!

Ok...today was my day off so I didn't exercise. I wore my pedometer and did a whopping 2000 steps..yikes...I have been doing about 10,000 to 12,000 per day. So tomorrow is another day and it will start with my 4 miles.

It's only 8:15 pm here and this girlie is tired! I might just have to go take a long bubble bath and go to bed...

So goodnight for now!!

Kim

Hey, I don't know about the rest of you, but I never get tired of being told I'm missed. Ha! Can't wait to be on the "Half their Size" cover of People. or Oprah perhaps? Oops, if that's gonna happen, I guess I need to start the scale moving. Down, Down Down (I say!) I usually gain on vacations, so it will be interesting to see what the scale says when I get back home.

Jenny, I tried so hard for 10 miles today - and took 3 outings to get to my 9 miles for the day. But I'm proud of it anyway. 79.5 for me! Anika, you should count the 2 miles to Starbucks. I think I would!

I look forward to posting and want to chit-chat, but often forget where I am in mileage. I keep having to look back after I've started a post. Kim, thanks for keeping us all in line.

Oh Jenny, almost forgot to thank you for my Pumpkin. I haven't had time for Holiday decorations, so I will enjoy this one. And will probably make some Turkey-Pumpkin soup out of it after Thanksgiving. Nothing goes to waste in our house!

Keep up the good work, everyone. Oh and for those of you with kids or anyone who dresses up for Halloween, please post your pictures. That will be fun. I hope Nolan enjoys his costume and at least has fun Trick-or-Treating. We found a bag of gummy body parts to give out. Couldn't resist.

i have to say that a princess mummy is a new one - i've never heard of that before!
henry has been a princess every single year (that makes 5 halloweens in a row!!), so i made her choose something else... she picked a black cat because her beloved webkinz is a black cat named princess (she does have a great way of getting what she wants!). so she says that she is a princess again this year, just a different kind (can you tell that she is a girly girl - so unlike her jock mom!!).
we are lucky enough to have a friend loan us her buzz lightyear costume from the disney store, because it costs more than $50, and i didn't want to risk spending that for something that nolan may or may not wear. we have talked about dressing up, but actually putting on the costume is another thing - we'll have to wait and see how it goes tomorrow. more than anything i am just so excited that he can say "trick or treat". last year at this time he was still non-verbal, and i didn't dare hope that he would progress so much in one short year! thank god for therapy and all of his hard work!!!
henry and i went for a special 'just girls' walk to starbucks after school today, so that is about 2 miles more, but it was at such a leisurely (6 year old short legs!) pace that i won't bother logging it!

Anika, you are so funny- a hottie firefighter wife! As if... nice to dream though. I must say there aren't many in my dh's station that would make the calendar! LOL!

I'm so glad you got the Wii. We love it! It was a Christmas gift for us too, from my parents, but they said we could have it early. I use the wii fit every day. I finally get my strength training in because of it. The girls use it every day too. My friend picked up the Outdoor adventure for me at Costco. I'm wrapping that up for Christmas. Its supposed to really get you moving too!!

I'll be trick or treating with a cutie bat, a cheerleader/fire fighter (she can't decided so we have both outfits) and a princess, who really wants to be a princess mummy, but her Mommy is trying to talk her out of it!

hiya girls!
i hate that i wasn't able to post yesterday - i really do need a daily dose of my sparkgirls (i'd tell you all that i missed you once again, but you're probably tired of hearing that!).
i am having a hard time with being so busy - i love that i'm spending hours at the gym, and hours walking every day, but it means that other stuff is just being abandoned (like the fact that i still haven't unpacked from my conference, and my house is starting to look ravaged!). but i am so happy to be so active and to not have given up (this is by FAR the longest time that i have adhered to a healthy living plan, and definately the most i have exercised since university)... i really really really have to thank you guys for that - that daily dose of accountability is just what i depend on so heavily to not throw in the towel when i have setbacks. you girls are my lifesavers!!
i was very busy at the gym the past 2 days, and have lots of miles to log!
i did 20 minutes straight at a 10 minute mile, and then another 10 minutes at 5.5 mph, so that was 3 miles, plus i did 30 minutes on the elliptical (i think that's about 2 miles), and i walked 5.5 miles yesterday, so yesterday i was at:
86.5/132
and then today i did 60 minutes (i think about 3 miles) on the elliptical, and 30 minutes on the bike (which was 5 miles), and i walked 4 miles, so that brings my grand total to:
98.5/132 (wow i have been a busy girl! no wonder my house is in shambles!!! someone tell my husband that it's not my fault!)
jenny - you are doing so fantastically (as are all of you girls!!) - i bet you look more like a blur than a waddler! and i have to again say how proud of you i am for getting up so early to work out! you are setting such an AMAZING example for your lovely girls! i bet that you are going to be the hottie wife that all your husband's firefighters will hope comes to visit at the station for some eye candy!!
healthy - i'm so glad that texas is treating you well! and good for you not letting a trip throw you off track - i know how hard that must be! you are stronger than me, as i always use holidays/vacations as an excuse to make a pig of myself!
kim - you are like sunshine to me! i am so appreciative to have someone so positive and uplifting to 'talk' to every day! if you get tired of your current career i have no doubt that you would make a fantastic motivational speaker!
and hell yes, we will have to get ourselves featured in people magazine for thier 'half thier size' issue when we all hit goal!
i am so excited - we bought the wii this weekend!! future shop (canadian version of best buy) had them on sale for a great price and my husband lined up to get one, and so santa will be good to us this year! we are planning on making that santa's gift to the family, and each of us will get our own game. i am of course asking for the wii fit, since it has gotten such rave reviews from you guys!
we had snow yesterday! on our walk it was freezing! i had to bundle nolan up like a mummy, but he loved it! of course now he thinks christmas is coming, because he associates snow with the holiday (can you tell he's mommy's boy!?)
i am working again tomorrow, and then i plan on staying at the gym for the 3 hours before i have to pick nolan up at 3, so i will definately get a good workout in. it's a good thing because i know that i will face lots of temptation with all the candy & treats around!
i will check in before i take my black cat (henry) and buzz lightyear (nolan) out trick or treating!
have a great day girls!

Hi Everybody,

I just logged in 2 more miles on my treadmill...nothing to write home about but at least I did it 16.5 min mile.

I'm at 76 miles...

I went through my closet today and actually got rid of my big clothes.....I swore I would never do that again...but I did. I wouldn't have done that without all of you...so we need to stick together all the way through and beyond. I'm still scared to get to my goal weight (even if it is a ways away) I just don't want to yo yo back up again!!!

Jenny -- 96 miles -- What an accomplishment...you can be on my team anyday!!

Healthy -- You really have been racking up the miles in Texas. I also saw that Toys R Us had the Wii & Fit for the same price.

Anika -- You must have been swamped as usual. Hope you had a great day!!

Hugs back at ya'll!!

emoticon Wow, have I missed you gals! 44 degrees in Florida now?? Did I hear you right, Jenny? Ouch! It was 45 degrees here in McAllen one morning - it was a record low. I had to borrow a sweatshirt for my walk! I'm getting a few extra miles in on this flatland, but nowhere near 10 miles! Guess I'll have to try for that tomorrow morning. Ha!

Oh, I've never been on a cruise and one at Thanksgiving sounds grand! My dream cruise is to Alaska. One of these days...

Anika, I forget whether your conference in Toronto is still going on or is over. What a great city.

Kim, Thanks for the note on Best Buy's wii fit sale. I'll have to look into that when I get home. And, wow, having new jeans in a smaller size must feel great!

OK, here's my tally since my last log:
Sun 6.5
Mon 5.5
Tue 5.0
Wed 5.0 - so 22 + 48.5 is 70.5, if I got the math right. Close enough to wave to most of you as we walk thru New York.

Anastasia - good luck with your studying, just in case you're checking in.

Hugs all around! emoticon

Hi There!

I did my 4 miles this morning....it was 47 degrees here too but that is warm for us! I think we are still getting rained (and maybe snowed) out in New York! Good thing we have good imaginations...I'm still thinking of fall leaves and crisp days for my walks in New York. How about you???

Jenny -- You did 10 miles by yourself?? Wow! There is not a spec of doubt in my mind that you will get to your goal. You're so funny, I'm sure you are doing a lot more walking than waddling!! lol!! Oh..I forgot to mention your girls are adorable!! They look just like you! I can't wait to start Wii fitting!! Good thing I hid it at my moms or it might just be open by now

emoticon

Anika -- I almost caught up to you....for a split second anyway!! Hope you have a fun filled day!!

Healthy -- We miss you but I'm sure you are making us proud and getting out there and blazing your route in Texas!! "see" you soon!!

Have a wonderful day everybody...I will probably pop back tonight to check on everybody!!

Hi Everyone!

I missed you all yesterday! My internet service was down. What a bummer! I had no idea how much I used it!

Kim- thanks for the pedicure! i really needed one! No blisters from the 10 miles, no problems at all! emoticon I walk alone, at 5 in the am so no one can see me waddling down the street! LOL!

It was 49 degrees this morning! The last time it was that cold here was 1944!! Can you believe it? I stayed in, but I'll be wii fitting later. I did do 3 miles yesterday though.

I feel like I am at a standstill so I did another 2 miles today on the treadmill. I only did a 15 minute mile pace (walking) but my knee felt really good.. yea!!

Anika - good for you doing a 10 minute mile today! If you keep increasing a little at a time you will be there in no time...I'm sure you already know that since you exercise so much and have been an athlete all your life. You really logged a lot of miles today! Hope you had a yummy dinner!
I'm at 70 miles - I have some catching up to do!

Jenny - You must be resting your feet today....I hope you enjoyed the pedicure I sent to you :-) I'm sure you needed it. Good job again on your 10 mile walk......

Healthy - Hope you are enjoying Texas and it is not too hot for you!

Good night everybody!!

hi girls!
busy day for me today - i still haven't had dinner yet and it's 6:30!! (we usually eat by 5:30).
i did 10 minutes (1 mile) on the treadmill at 6.0 - a big feat for me. i have no problem with jogging for miles and miles, but at my nice slow, comfortable pace. kim what you said to jenny yesterday about getting to a 10 minute mile in no time made me realize that i need to get my booty in gear and get to a 10 minute mile after all the miles i've logged over the past almost 4 months!
but 10 minutes was all i could last, so then i switched to the elliptical for 2 miles on there. i rounded out my routine with 5.5 miles of walking (busy day therapy-wise for nolan)...
so that brings me to 76/132
sorry i don't have more time right now to 'chat', but my tummy is so very rumbly!!!
night all!

Jenny---10 Miles!!!! I'm soooooo impressed!! Did you go with a group or by yourself? You have to do the half marathon now!! Does this mean I need to look up a half marathon here and try it......Maybe I will look one up in California and then I will have an excuse to visit my friends. Do you have blisters on your feet? That is what I would be afraid of......

Ankia -- Welcome back!!! A Holiday Inn without a gym? What a bummer....but of course that didn't stop you. 14.5 miles while you were gone and you still managed to get another 4 miles after you got home...We are not going to let you slip backward. I know what you mean. Another 15 lbs is where I seem to start going backwards. Not this time because we are all going to stick together and be featured on People Magazine's half our size!!!!! lol!!

I hope today helped Nolan settle back into his routine. I'm sure routine is what it is all about when it comes to Autism. I hope your conference will bring about a lot of good for your cause.

Healthy said she will be in Texas for the rest of the month so I'm not sure if that means until this Friday or part of November too!! If you have time to read through some of the posts, she got her workout in at the airport of all things!!! Something like 5 miles and then she found a great route in Texas.

Jenny and I have been plugging away with our daily routines no traveling to report for us!! She did 10 miles though....yikes...I have some catching up to do!!

Anastasia is buried in books. I sent her an e-mail to check on her and she said she has 3 weeks to go before her exams and she is not quite where she wants to be but it is going ok...I told her we will give her some honorary miles!!

I hope that catches you up somewhat until you have 2 seconds to read through the posts!!

Did I say.....we missed you too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome back!!

Kim

hiya ladies!! boy did i miss you guys this past 5 days!
the conference in toronto was great, but VERY tiring - my body and my brain are both overwhelmed! sadly i ended up at the only holiday inn without a gym... and was i every ticked off about it! i had great designs on working out lots, but instead i had to settle for lots of walking around downtown toronto. i got back late friday night, but sadly our weekend was so busy, and nolan was so out of sorts that this is the first time i have been able to sit down at the computer! any 4 year old who is used to having mommy around 24/7 would probably have had a really hard time, but throw autism into the mix and it gets pretty stressful! ironically he was great for my husband when i was away - slept better than normal, ate better, and did better in therapy (and yes, i am both pleased and annoyed with that!), but as soon as i got home he let me know how displeased he was with my by turning into a class A cling-on! i haven't been able to take a pee without him freaking out - if he can't see me he gets hysterical, so even a shower is out of the question until he is asleep (and by then i'm just too tired!). so today was a great thing - a return to normal routines! i wasn't able to get to the gym (mondays are always tough for me), but at least i got in some more walking. here are the miles i racked up over the past 5 days:
wed - 4 miles walking
thurs - 6 miles walking
fri - 4.5 miles walking
sat - 1 mile
sun - 1 mile
mon - 2 miles walking
which brings me to:
67.5/132
sadly my body is getting soft! not one real workout in almost a week and not great eating makes for a regression for anika! luckily enough the scale has been really kind to me (i was actually down a pound at this morning's weigh in), but i know that i am really going to have to work my booty off this week to get back on track!
did i mention that i missed you all?!
how long is healthy in texas for?
and jenny - holy crap that is a great time!! i have been jogging at least 4 times a week for over 3 months now, and i can still only manage a 12 minute mile at best - you are so going to be ready for your half marathon!!!
i promise to you all that i will be re-commited and refocused starting tomorrow!! i need to get back to basics (tracking food and doing good old fashion punishing gym workouts!) before i veer too far off course... this is usually right about when i start to slack, and look down to realize that i have gained back most of the weight i lost. i don't want to repeat that unhealthy pattern!!! give me strenght girls!
have a great day (and did i mention that i missed you?)!
anika

Can't get the IPOD wet! emoticon

Does that mean that next time it rains here I can break into the Wii??? oh boy I hope so!!! I live in the rain state and I am a wimp when it rains!! When I was in California I wouldn't go anywhere if it rained. You were definitely prepared though....lol!!!
I am ordering a great day for you to walk tomorrow!

Sorry.....but if I was going on a cruise it would be the food (and of course the Rum runners)I was looking forward to! You have really been bitten by the bug..I love it!! As you are working out on the ship you can imagine how you are going to smoke the half marathon in December!!

I hope Anika got home safely....and Healthy is enjoying her stay in Texas!!

Good night everybody!!

Kim

Its kind of embarrassing, really, we are the Sunshine state after all! emoticon Just so you know, I had all my stuff on (Walking cloths, sneakers, ipod with nike+, cell phone incase I fall and break a hip, and a flash light because its soooo dark at 5am) and I stepped out the door and it was pouring! I thought, well, I can walk and get wet, but I can't let me ipod get wet! So there you have it! The Ipod was the wimp, not me, LOL!

My wii was supposed to be a Christmas present and the fit was supposed to be for my birthday, but there was no way I was waiting! LOL!

Great wok on the elliptical! I'm going n a cruise during Thanksgiving and what do you think I'm looking forward too? The beaches? Warm sun? Rum runners (well yes, that too) but the gym on the ship! LOL!

Rained out???? oh no! I thought that only happened in WA :-0 You'll have a great walk tomorrow then and good job on getting your workout done on the Wii fit!! I bought the Wii and Wii Fit last week. I figured I better get it now then try to find it at Christmas. BestBuy had a great deal on it. I have it hidden at my moms house, but I think I am worse than the kids I want to use it now!!!

Healthy, I think you not only sent some warm air this way you sent the Santa Ana's with it ;-) It is a gorgeous day here!! I love the wind and it is not only windy but the beautiful fall colorful leaves are flying everywhere and there is not a cloud in the sky. It's about 65 degrees (that's about 18c for you Anika) Breathtaking......

I did my 4 miles today on the elliptical..would have loved to go for a walk but my knee is not quite there yet...almost.

Anika I looked at your previous posts and you were at the symposium last week. I hope it went well for you. Can't wait to hear.......

Have a wonderful Sunday everybody!!

48.5/132 Catching up! Got in 5 miles yesterday - airports are great places to walk. And 6 miles today. Found a great route here. And it was cool for a change in far south Texas, so made for great walking weather. I think it'll be back in the 90's tomorrow. Just have a moment and wanted to say 'Hi!'
