hi girls... sorry for being m.i.a the past 2 days, trust me i missed you all! and boy could i have used some of your encouraging words!
yesterday started out great, i ellipticalled (that's my new word and i'm sticking to it!) for 80 minutes - about 4 miles i think, and also did weights and walked to and from the gym, and had all intentions of eating really well, but then...
my husband is a huge foodie (as am i), and he saw a show on food tv the other day where a chef made fresh gnocchi (potato pasta dumplings) with cream gorgonzola sauce, and patrick took that as a challenge. so when i finally got home from the gym he was already rolling out his gnocchi dough, had the swiss and sharp cheddar all grated and ready for his cream sauce, and he was just so proud of himself. so i have to admit that i absolutely gorged myself on one of the best meals i have ever eaten (including fancy-schmancy gourmet restaurant meals). so i definately splurged, but at least i put in 2.5 hours in the gym before-hand to hopefully soften the blow!
today was a busy family day prepping for tomorrow's thanksgiving feast, so i have to admit that tomorrow will not be an exemplary day spark wise. i will be eating much more than i should, and i definately won't get in any cardio time, but at least i am vowing to stop the damage after one day... in the past one day always turned into one week, then one month, etc.. of being off the wagon and packing on every pound that i lost. i have been a terrible yo-yoer for the past 6 years, and i am vowing to stop the cycle now. i will always eat what i want on a major holiday, but that doesn't have to turn into the whole month of december.
so i will try and check in with you hard working girls tomorrow, but it may not be until monday!
have a fantastic weekend girls!

Hey, I learned a new word today: “ellipticalled!” AND I felt so PROUD of my teammates who walked or ellipticalled 7 miles and 8 miles today. WOW!! This team is just too much fun!! emoticon

Jenny, I'm ready to join you in training for a 1/2 marathon. Sounds fun. Enjoy your pool party tomorrow!
emoticon

Kim – watch out for those upper body bikes! They are really a work out. My arms aren’t nearly as strong as my legs, so they really wear me out.

When are we starting our next adventure?

good job staying on the wagon despite setbacks kim!
i must have entered it wrong, i didn't walk 7 miles - i ellipticalled (that's a verb, right?!) for 4 miles and walked for 3 miles for a total of 7 miles... much more manageable!
have a great night everyone!

Jenny--8 miles!!!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

I have never walked that far either. I think we are all at Bear Mountain so we can start on our Long Island walk. Give me the go and I will create a thread!!

Anika-Thanks for the tips - I belong to 24 Hour Fitness and I think they do have upper body bikes. Never thought about trying one. Also they have water aerobics a few times a week that I might try (if I'm brave enough to get in a bathing suit)

75 minutes on the elliptical and a 7 mile walk! wow!! that is amazing too! You and Jenny deserve gold stars (do I feel a spark goodie coming on????)

It is starting to get cold here. It has been gray, rainy and gloomy the last few days. They say it is supposed to clear up by the weekend. We don't get as much snow just a lot of rain. I keep trying to remind myself that is why it is so green and beautiful here.

I will check in later...I have been doing great with my eating to compensate for no exercise. My knee feels better today. At least the pain is not excruciating. It just feels like there is a lot of pressure. I am going to try the upper body bike and some light weights (I'm a wimp so it is always "light" when it comes to weights)

I hope your husband will take you to do a half marathon or knowing you a full one! I think that would be great for you and an inspiration for the kids!!

Have a great day everybody!!

Kim

jenny - YAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO for you!
i hope you have a sore arm from patting yourself on the back! i think the biggest challenge with starting a healthy living program is remember to constantly challenge yourself. that's why so many people plateau - they get to comfortable doing what worked before. but our bodies are tricky! you have to keep upping the ante to get the same results... but of course you knew all this already, because you are doing it so very well!
i think that walking a half marathon would be an AMAZING goal! i will virtually train with you if you like! i would love to compete in something like a 10K to give me a concrete goal to work for, but the only local run we have is in june, and i don't want to wait that long! we are only an hour from toronto (canada's very own NYC), and they have loads of events all the time, but i would feel bad having to ask my husband to drag the kiddos all the way there only to stand around (a recipe for disaster with nolan!).
kim - good for you keeping up good spirits even with an injury! i would try the bike before the elliptical (less strain on your knee joint). and check with your gym, because the Y that i always went to in ottawa had a special upper body cardio machine. it looks like a standing up bike, but you 'pedal' by pushing the pedals with your arms. it can give a great cardio workout. if not, just keep doing light weights by try and do them circuit training style (ie. with only short breaks in between each rep/machine), or try free weight exercise while sitting on the stability ball - that way you work your core as you work upper body as well.
i managed to do 75 minutes straight on the elliptical today, and did the upper body weights circuit, and walked to and from the gym (it is gorgeous here today!!), so i think about 7 miles total.
i love having thanksgiving so early, because the weather is still nice enough to do outdoor activities (of course that's not a problem for jenny and healthybiz - i'm not sure where anastasia is), but for us ontario residents come late november we are usually knee deep in a couple of feet of snow! in fact last american thanksgiving we got 2 feet of snow in 24 hours, and school was cancelled so me and the kiddos stayed home and watched the macy's thanksgiving day parade!
have a great day and 'see' you all tomorrow!

I did it!! I walked 8 miles today!! That's the the most I've ever walked at one time. I'm thinking of walking a 1/2 marathon on my birthday in in December, and I wanted to see if I could raise my mile a mile a week. emoticon

So Bear Mountain is beautiful!!

40 is young...45 is even younger! Although I'm not feeling it today! I take a joint medicine too..I don't know if it does anything but it sounds good.

I got a history lesson today about Thanksgiving in Canada. I now know that is is celebrated on the 2nd Monday of October and there are similar customs to United States Thanksgiving. It is a celebration of a successful harvest!! So thank you Anika for teaching me something new!

Jenny - congrats on finishing your walk tomorrow. Is the Long Island walk about 35 miles? If so here is one..just click on the link and hit Course http://www.li2day.org/aboutwalk.asp#

Hi everyone! I didn't get any e-mails today, so I'm playing catch up!

Bummer on the knees. I started taking a joint medicine for my knees. I must say it makes me feel super old, and as we all know I am very, VERY young (because 40 gets younger every day!)

I like the idea of Thanksgiving in October! Its gives more shopping time between Thanksgiving and Christmas!

I'll be finishing our walk tomorrow. Healthy, you're there already, aren't you? How about Anastasia?

I'll look up a Long Island Link...If someone else is more web savy, please feel free!

Isn't it crazy??? I have never been very athletic so I have not had the pleasure of experiencing the pleasures of torn ligaments, muscles, & whatever else decides to go! lol!

If you have some ideas on how to get cardio in I would love it! I am hoping I will be able to do at least light elliptical in 3 or 4 days....maybe wishful thinking but I'm going to try. I went to the Dr (tried to go to an Ortho Dr but they are booked for weeks) just to make sure it wasn't ACL. After looking at it and poking around they don't think so. It sounds like the true test will be if and how fast it heals. I did get some heavy duty Ibuprofen though! I hope it helps.

I'm not going to let it bum me out! I am just really going to stick to eating 1200 calories a day, logging food, and of course keeping up with you guys..so if you see a gimpy women on the side of the road be kind ;-) or maybe I will hitch a ride on the handlebars of somebodys bike!!

You have Thanksgiving in October? I will have to look up Canadian holidays to get up to date. Who do you bake for? Do you sell your items at a local store or do customers put orders in? What a great way to make some extra dollars! Especially doing something you enjoy.

Sounds like you had a great day today! It also sounds like Nolan is doing better. He is lucky to have you as a mom!

oh by the way....when is walking 2 miles not getting any cardio in????? That is half of what I do everyday! Your so funny......I guess it comes from being a true athlete.

Take care,

Kim

kim - i feel for you! i have a very long history of assorted repetitive injuries (what athlete doesn't?!), so i can relate to how upsetting it can be. and as for the jumping jacks, joints are such crazy things you never know what will set them off! i see you one jumping jack and raise you a sommersault... that's right, the last time my right shoulder dislocated i was doing a sommersault in tae kwon do class. i was so embarassed! but just when i thought it couldn't get worse last spring my left shoulder dislocated when i reached up to hug my husband goodbye as he was leaving for a business trip. seriously, hugging, sommersaulting and jumping jacks should come with a disclaimer!
just take it easy with any weight bearing activities. if you have done any serious ligament damage your knee stability could be compromised, which means that injuring other ligaments will be more likely as your leg tries to overcompensate for the weakness. and of course you can still get in miles in other ways. when i was in second year university we had to design an exercise program complete with cardio for a case study of a wheelchair bound person. it takes some more creativity, but it can be done!
as for me, i have not had a good day health wise, but i had lots of fun so hopefully i won't be too mopy next monday when i hop on the scale. nolan had his first class trip today to the local farm/pumpkin patch/apple orchard. we got to take a hay ride, pick our own pumpkin right out of the patch, and pick 5 apples right off of the tree. we had a blast!! he was so well behaved one of the other moms asked me why he needed an EA (teacher's aide). i had to chuckle and say that when he is good he is golden but when he is bad duck and run for cover!
so luckily today was a very good day for him, and thus a great day for us all!
and then this afternoon i went shopping with a friend. so i am broke, but have started picking up christmas presents for the kiddos and stocking up on baking supplies (as you can imagine christmas is by far my busiest time of the year baking wise!).
so no real cardio, just the walking around the farm and walking to the school (the kids take the bus because it's 2 miles, but of course no moms allowed on the school bus so i had to walk and meet them there!).
so i am feeling great about getting some things accomplished but down about not exercising at all, especially after yesterday's extra splurging diet wise. i will really have to step it up tomorrow if i don't want to have a huge gain this week, because sunday is thanksgiving dinner which means a calorie bonanza!!

Ok....I got up went to the gym and I couldn't do anything...my knee is killing me...who'd of thought jumping jacks would hurt your knee...So my virtual 4 miles will have to really be virtual today. I'll make an appt to see the Dr and find out what I did to it. I figure even if they tell me to stay off of it I will probably have some type of physical therapy. It didn't swell so from everything I read that is a good sign.

I might have to do weights in place of walking for awhile if you don't mind me logging it as my 4 miles. I don't want to stop participating! I can make up not doing cardio for awhile with my food intake and it will give me a chance to try and build some muscle with weights.

Hope it's nothing serious....but boy it hurts!!

Kim

Hi Ladies!

I think we are all almost there! Long Island here come the Spark girls! It will never be the same.

I did 4 miles today....what a perfect day...warm, sunshine, breeze, colorful, blue skies, leaves falling.....

Thank you everybody for your kind comments!! I really appreciate it!!

I did a fitness bootcamp tonight and the first exercise we did was jumping jacks to warm up..next thing I knew I heard a pop..I think I pulled a tendon or ligament in my knee area. It is not swollen so I am praying it is not the ACL. The trainer looked at it and did some stretches and didn't think so. All I care about is that I can at least do the Elliptical every morning until it gets better. It sure hurts......ouch!!!

Anika- I would gain 5 lbs just smelling the cheesecake...That is my all time favorite dessert. I commend you for sticking with your program...I hope your IPOD decides to change its mind and start working (you know it does have a mind of its own! lol!) I am a total computer/electronics nerd and proud of it! My husband shakes his head and laughs because I am usually sitting on the couch typing away...and of course laughing at your posts. You have a great sense of humor!!

Jenny - I hope you had a great day today....

Healthybiz - Thanks again for your comments!

Anastatia- Thank you so much for the jeans! I went clubbing in them last night in NYC! I was one hot mamma!! emoticon

Ok off to ice my knee and go to bed. It's only 9pm but I'm tired!!

"see" you tomorrow my Spark Buddies!
You're all the
emoticon

pumpkin spice cheesecake??? With cinnamon cream?? I can't imagine a more luscious treat. Mmmmm.... Glad I don't live near your house or I'd be reacting like Pavlov's dog!! LOL! I don't know how you do it. But ANY source of income is a big incentive these days.

I made it out for a few more miles tonight. Gonna try to get up EARLY tomorrow like a few of you so I can work out before my appointments. Good night, all! emoticon

a picture?? did i miss something?
as for me i was crazy busy today (did i mention that i have a small at home baking business?) with 2 cheesecakes and a sandwich tray to do today, but i did get in some cardio (no gym though - boo).
i ran for about 2 miles and walked for another mile - once again i have to estimate because of el ipod loco!
i did however not eat so well today, so when i am depressed next monday because my weigh in sucks please feel free to remind me that the pumpkin spice cheesecake with cinnamon cream is to blame!!
good night all!
oh and kim - you are so right, i rely on you girls so much! it is 9:25 pm here, and the whole fam is asleep and i am nerding it up downstairs on the computer because i couldn't stand the thought of not checking in with you guys today!

Hi Girls!

5 hours in the car is too long!! My appointments went well. I picked up a sale which is always a good thing and yes I did go to the gym and do 4 miles this morning!!

We need to make a pact that we keep this team together for a long time. I can't wait to get home everyday and read all the posts. Maybe we can all get to our goal weight and have a magazine do a feature story on us! lol!!

I think everybody is almost here! Long Island walk here we come! Somebody said they have a map???

Let me know and I will start a new thread.

Healthybiz- How cool you live in horse country and in Southern California too.....

Anika - you gym rat you ;-) I know what you mean about getting a better workout at the gym. If the weather is nice I will go out for a walk or jog because I like the fresh air but I still go to the gym every morning.

Jenny - Can you send some sunshine my way?? Please???? It has been rainy and cold here.

Anastasia - you are almost here!! We are doing a Long Island walk next...

Have a great day tomorrow everybody.

Kim

P.S. On my way home I stopped by the outlet malls...I went down another size!! I hit 150-ville over the weekend!!!! (I am only 5'1" so that is still way heavy for me) I also posted my monthly blog with a picture on my Spark Page if anybody wants to check it out.

Jenny – You’re so close! Almost there. The Rampage sounds like fun. Are you sure it’s not beached on that desert isle along with the Minnow?? Now, wouldn’t that be a fun hike – around the island looking for the Professor and Mary Ann, then stepping onto the backs of whales or dophins to go to the next island! emoticon

Anastasia – Good for you, hanging in there. Sorry about your back. Sounds like you need some R&R time! emoticon

By the way, I live in horse country. The closest stop light to me isn’t for a cross street; it’s so the horses can cross to the other side and continue on their mountain path! I love horses, but haven’t ridden one in ages. There are lots of stables around here and I have friends who volunteer with horse therapy for disabled riders. Maybe one of these days I’ll get on a horse again.

OMG, we have a jock in our midst! I should have guessed, Anika, with all your jogging. I sang in the choir instead and hated PE. Ha! Wish I’d paid a little more attention to it way back then.

Kim – Hope your drive and appointments went well.

emoticon Oh, Anika, you get the prize for using the phrase of the week: Functional Exercise! LOL! I just read about that in a SparkPeople article.

anastasia - good job getting in so much functional exercise, too bad that it broke you! i hope that you have a long massage and some rest (and if all else fails some good muscle relaxants!).
jenny - we subscribe to the exact same philosophy - we may be poor on paper, but our kids would never know it. i would rather sacrifice lots of frills to be able to afford the frills that are really going ot matter to the kids. lots of people have asked us why we spend so much money on nolan's special diet when it isn't even proven that it can help autism. but to me it's like not treating any serious illness with a medication that only may work - wouldn't you do anything if there were no negative side effects and even the slightest chance that it might help your baby have a better life?!
i was able to get a jog in today (about 3 miles - i have to estimate because my wacko ipod is apparently mad at me again) and i feel great about it. but i do have to admit i am already slightly addicted to the gym. i don't feel that 55 minutes of jogging is enough, because i didn't sweat anywhere near as much as i do at the gym, and i didn't do any weight training... i can't wait to get to the gym tomorrow, because i can't go today!

Riding horses sounds like fun. I haven't ridden in years but have been thinking about it alot lately because there are trails and stables nearby, but YES it is expensive.

I spent three hours yesterday digging out a pond in my back yard and today I can barely lift up my arms. Calling a masseuse.

My daughter loves riding! Its pricie here too, but My DH says he'd rather die poor and have the girls do the things he was never able to do, so he's got them in piano lessons (and they play really well, its pretty amazing) and the riding lessons. He gets a break on the lesson cost of lessons by helping out at the stables. We don't have horses or anything, so for the shows, we just have to show up, with Katie in her really cute (and much too pricie) riding cloths, and the people who train my dd bring the pony and all of the stuff and she can just get on and ride. Yesterday was the first show for her and they judge on how well she controls the pony and if she's sitting right and that sort of thing. Its funny because she's still on a lead line, meaning someone is guiding the horse around, so I guess she's really just being judged on sitting! LOL!

Anyway, my DH and I totally agree in keeping the girls busy to stay out of trouble. One of the Dads said he wanted his daughter to love horses, not boys! And its funny, because it is all girls at the stables, ranging in age from 5-15.

I think they are very beautiful, but I honestly have no real desire to ride. My DH would love to. Maybe someday. emoticon

hiya gilrs!
jenny - how great that your daughter gets to be involved with horses! henry is constantly asking if she can ride, but it is just so expensive up here! i have a friend who boards a horse at a local farm and we took henry this summer to ride once and she was smitten! my husband and i are in complete agreement that being involved in productive things is what keeps girls out of trouble, so we definately plan on having henry in sports as much as she likes. growing up i had no parenting whatsoever, and could so easily have chosen a different (and much less wholesome!) path, but i had practice/game/team running almost every day of the week. i really believe that the only reason i did so well in university was because i was such a jock and loved competing so much!
today is a beautiful, crisp sunny fall day here in southern ontario. it is just as i imagine NYC on a perfect fall day... that will be my motivation today since i am definately still feeling less than great. i only have one transportation to do today (picking up nolan at junior kindergarten at noon and hurrying home for his afternoon home therapy session at 1), and depending on how i feel when i get out there i may just walk today.
i'll check in later!

I was up at 5 too! That's when I walk, its the only time I can without bringing my little friends with me, or doing it in the heat. I did 4.5 today, so I'm at 46.5/53!! I'm starting to feel like I can make it! Its must be all the support of you girls running with me (and the nice refreshing lemonade!

Healthy- PBG is where my dh works. When we got engaged, we decided to learn to Scuba together. We loved it! We used to go on a dive boat called the Rampage. It sunk in one of the bad hurricanes a a few years back. We stopped when I got pg with our first.

Living in FL, you do see amazing things. I've even seen turtles laying eggs in the beach and I'm swam with them when I used to Scuba dive. Pretty cool stuff!

Logged 6 miles today, so I'm retracing my steps now to walk with my Spark buddies. I'm bringing you some virtual lemonade! emoticon

My hair's now up above my shoulders instead of halfway down my back. Definitely cooler and lighter. Hmm...now that I think of it, I should have lost a pound in hair weight! (but it didn't show up on the scale)

Kim - You are so dedicated to get up b4 the rest of us to get your workout in. Good luck with your travels tomorrow. And yes, you're right! Life stops in southern California when it rains and you really take your life in your hands by just getting out in traffic.

Jenny - I was just in Palm Beach Gardens in June. Loved it there. If I ever see a manatee in real life, I think I'd feel my life was complete!! What a treat! My former scuba instructor was on the cover of National Geographic a few decades ago with a manatee. They're such peaceful sweet mammals.

Anika - don't overdo it while you're getting well.

Anastasia - is your link still working? I've got a glass of lemonade right here for you!

Hi Girls -

Healthybiz - I use to be the same way when I lived in Southern Cal....all life would stop when it rained..if I did that now that I live in WA all life would stop forever because it always rains!!! Oh, I miss Southern Cal!!

Jenny -- Sounds like you had a great day! How fun seeing a manatee. Isn't it true that sometimes we don't see the roses in our own backyards? I use to show dogs when I was young...it was a great way to keep me focused and out of trouble as I grew up...I was also painfully shy and it cured that!! There are many wonderful life lessons learned when competing. Had I not had that experience I could never do what I do today. Good for your daughter. I remember just getting a ribbon was the best part!! I would have loved to have shown horses instead. I still love horses!!

Anika -- You sound like you feel a lot better!

I have a long drive tomorrow for two appointments so I will be MIA until the evening...but I will go to the gym at 5am to get my 4 miles in!

Have a great Monday everybody!!

Kim

I'm closer to Palm Beach (same coast, I'm just much further south). It was such a nice day today, not as hot and humid as in the summer, that we went to a restaurant on the water and walked along the pier after (yes, I was afraid the kids would fall in) and we actually saw a manatee! I've only ever seen them in the wild twice before, so it was pretty cool. When you live down here, you forget to take advantage of places like that unless there are guests in town! We went today because my oldest daughter was in her first horse show. She did really well. She came if 4th (out of 5, hee hee) but she was so proud and she really did do a good job!

healthy, we want to see the new hairdo! I need a make over! I've been growing my hair out, but I don't think I can stand it too much longer.

healthybiz - isn't it great how good a new haircut can make you feel! i find it gives me a whole new attitude, which i love, not to mention an extra boost of confidence! i have no doubt that i will see you at the finish line later today!
jenny - i haven't forgotten about you, i am the tall shadow running right along beside you, cheering you on! keep going, you'll finish any day now!
kim - good for you always getting your cardio in early in the day. i find that i am way more likely to eat better for the rest of the day if i've already done all the work of a hard cardio session.
i walked for 3.5 miles along a beautiful trail... the colours are really starting to change, and it is so nice!
jenny - are you anywhere near jacksonville? my husband is flying back from there today. he called me last night from a beachside bar to rave about how beautiful it was - just to rub it in i think! he travels a lot for work, and usually to boring places, so he was so excited to be somewhere nice for a change!
enjoy the last moments of weekend girls!

Hi Kim and everyone else. I'm at 50/53. Getting a late start today, but I'm heading out soon. Giving the ground time to dry out a bit. Yes, it really rained here in southern California yesterday. Ha! So I didn't walk yesterday, but I got TONS of errands run and even got my hair cut. LOVE my new hairdo. I've been growing out my hair because my favorite hairdresser has been on leave for such a long time. But I'm back in business now! emoticon

Hi Girls!

Jenny -- your almost here! It is worth it! I'm jogging back to catch up with you so we can run the last few miles together. We can keep each other company.

Anika -- So glad you are feeling better! I hate..yes hate...house cleaning! That is the one thing I spoil myself with is a house cleaner every other week. I still have my fair share of cleaning though. I guess it goes with having two boys (really three if you count my husband..lol!!!)
Enjoy your "me" time.....you need it!! We're not starting our Long Island walk until next week anyway. Hop onto Sparkpeople if you feel the need for comfort food. Read some of the motivation/success stories. They will give you that little extra to get you through.

Healthybiz...Where are you?? I should probably look back through the posts. You probably said you were busy this weekend. Hope you're having a great one.

Anastasia...Hope your computer is feeling good today (I really do believe they have minds of their own ;-)

Did 4 miles this morning on two types of elliptical machines. Off to baseball tryouts, grocery shopping, and a few other errands....

"see" you later!

Kim

thanks so much girls for the sparkgoodies and the kind words!
it's amazing the difference that antibiotics, a good nights' sleep and 24 hours can make. both nolan and i woke up feeling much, much better today. very few eye boogies, and i can actually swallow without grimacing!
nolan is busy all day today, and henry has a birthday party (some crazy parents planning on entertaining 20 kids at a bowling alley for 2 hours!), so i should have some great 'me' time today. the only battles will be not feeling too much guilt about the state of the house (it is in dire need of cleaning, but i have not been at all motivated this past week - exercise is great but it takes up so much time and energy that i don't feel at all inclined to clean), and not succumbing to old habits of drowning myself in comfort foods. i'm going to try and take it easy and just walk today. at least my body will be active, but i won't push it too much so that i can't do a proper workout tomorrow!
i hope everyone is enjoying a great sunday!

great to see you back on the thread anastasia! and good for you for keeping track all on your own.
kim and jenny i totally agree about the exercise addiction. so if spending the whole afternoon with my mom driving me crazy and nolan having meltdowns at the mall wasn't enough, nolie and i both woke up this morning sick and with our eyes gummed shut with eye boogies (technical term, i know!). so we spent 4 hours at the urgent care clinic (again, so much fun with an autistic 4 year old!) to find that we both have an eye infection and strep throat. so no exercise for me today - i feel like i can't turn my head my glands are so swollen, and my eyes hurt and i have a headache and now i'm whining. sorry!
but even feeling this crummy i was contemplating trying to take nolan for a walk in the stroller to at least get some cardio minutes. but i will rest today, and hopefully tomorrow i will be able to do something besides make eye boogies and cry every time i swallow...
i hope that you are all having a MUCH better weekend than i, and i look forward to having some good news to share with you guys tomorrow!

50/53 - I have to get more consistent with my walks. I took a 3-day break, but when I get going, I don't want to stop. I walked 9 miles today, hiking up to a new spot, So, I'm nearly there. I'm waving to the 2 or so of you already at the finish line.

both sound cool. I am up to do either walk. you all can pick. it should something about 10 miles more. each walk should build on the last. I have been on a couple of teams that go from 20 mile walks to a hundred mile walks and people lose focus.

I'm just so happy to have access on this team. Now I can send out the newsletter for october this weekend.

You caught up and passed me by!! I'll have to catch up tomorrow!

We've been talking about walking across Long Island, then walking from Boston to Washington, D.C.

I also found a cool walk (on another Spark team) that the AARP is providing (but you don't need to be "older" too do it, that walks along route 66. It lets you know right where you are and you get to pick a car. They credit you one mile for each minute you walk. You can look up "get fit on route 66" if you want to check it out...

Hi everyone I'm so sorry to have disappeared for a while but i have been getting automatically kicked off threads on various teams and this is one of them. I have been calculating my walk on my own so I will input all my numbers shortly.

Hi everyone! Kin, you are so right about being addicted to the exercise! Today was my "off" day and it was so weird! I took the kids to the park and walked the heart trail.

You go girl!! Enjoy your dinner. The exercise will keep you motivated, even if you have too many calories you will not stop your program. Hopefully with your mom there you're able to get some alone time.

I walked 4 miles today! I'm here!!! Yea!

Have a great day everybody!!!

hi girls...
busy day today, trying to avoid being in the house but still get things taken care of! but i can proudly say that today was day 4 in a row of the gym, and i did 60 minutes on the elliptical, 15 minutes on the bike and 60 minutes walking to and from the gym. i am spent, but in the very best way!
tonight it's the mall (more walking!) and out to dinner with the kiddos and my mother, so i will most likely eat way too many calories, but at least i put in some great work before hand to make up for it!
have a great day girls!

Hey, I enjoyed riding on the handlebars of your bicycle! The shopping trip was fun. I had a big project and had to spend the last few days focused. I hated not having time to walk, but I made my deadline. So tomorrow, I'm back on plan and should be logging some miles soon. Anika, I'm going to be hovering right outside your door, waiting for you to come out and 'play' or walk with me while your mom plays with the kids.

Hi Girls!
Today is my rest day....exercising does become addicting because I feel like I should be doing something! I am about to go and watch my 12 year old play baseball.

Anika,
I think your plan is good! Everytime she brings up anything about your weight or how you look just look at her with your most positive face and say "you're right, can you watch the kids while I go to the gym?" This will allow you some "Anika" time while knowing your kids are in good hands! Don't back down!!
congrats on getting to the gym with your hectic schedule!!

I will see everybody on their walks tomorrow. Did you have fun shopping today? I did ;-)

Have a great evening!!
Kim

holy crap kim!! you really are a dynamo - that is more steps then most people take in a whole week! way to go powermom!
jenny, i am coming back to where you are to cheer you along the way!
it is COLD here all of a sudden! like see your breath outside cold, and it came so suddenly...
my mother is coming to visit for the next 3 days, and my husband is out of town until sunday night, so these next few days will be a major struggle for me. without giving you guys the whole long sob story i will just say that my mom is not at all a positive influence in my life, and she tends to make me feel horrible about myself, which always triggers me to stuff my face to prove to her that i don't care if she calls me fat, so i am going to need all of my strength to break that pattern this time.
i am going to try and get out for a nice long jog to clear my mind, and my plan is that every time she starts in on me i'm going to tell her to spend some rare time with her grandkids so that i can go out for a calming walk. let's hope that works!
but expect me to be relying heavily on you lovely ladies to keep me from throwing away weeks worth of hard work by falling hard off the wagon!
